Paid .65EUR for a 500mL can.

*Reviewed on 23.06.2005

This beer pours a lager golden base with a huge white and light fluffy head, excellent retention and nice lacing effects, a real gem. The smell is very floral; one of semi-bold hops and a bit of malt.

The taste is easy going but nothing innovative when it comes to a lager.
This beer cleanses the palette very nicely. This beer may be the smoothest one out there, nothing but impressed. It's very drinkable and would proclaim it a solid session beer, but at only 4.8% can't give it too much kudos given the one dimensional taste.

Final Thought: I'm so glad I bought some beer from Luxembourg during my stay there, because I didn't think this had much promise coming from a can... looks like the little country proved me wrong!

Thanks to blutt59 for sharing this bottle. This is my first beer from Luxembourg.

The beer pours a clear yellow color with a white head. The aroma is wheat, bready malt and grassy hops. The flavor is a lot of corn and grain with some light hops. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

This little cask had been standing in my room since last summer. Long enough I thought, so time to break the seal. As soon as I filled my glass I noticed it was different then the one I had in Brussels. To start with, it had an odour, and a nice one to. Strangely enough it smelled like a rich dark malt beer. The colour was darker anyway. It was a darkish yellow, almost orange. What a difference with the one on tap. The flavour had a nice bouquet of rich spices and hops. So it was very full and almost creamy. I really enjoyed it this time. Next time I'm driving to Luxemburg, I'm buying myself another one!

Ut vivat, Crescat, Floreat!

33cl Bottle, brought all the way over the Alps to Ste Maxime to be drank on my hotel room patio in the sun on 15 Sep 2013.

Pale yellow/gold with no head or smell (gets my regular 3 for a non smelling lager/pilsner).

Grainy, semi-sweet and generally OK. Softer than it's German Pilsner mates, this isn't a bad beer, just not as crisp or sharp as others in this style.

The nose is quite sweet cereal but also somewhat floral. Mouth rather small, low hop aroma, place mouth also very slight, just a fierce tingling in the mouth that remains aftertaste. But it is not necessarily appetizing, and sadly devoid of flavor. Not a fantastic "pale lager" but just drinkable. Just.

I sampled this beer at Au Bon Vieux Temps in Brussels by pure accident and out of ignorance. Such is the danger of ordering the one beer on the menu you've never heard of. Came out a clear pale gold under a 1.5 finger white head with nice retention and good lacing. The nose is mild of macro malt. The mouth is light and mildly carbonated - so a flat macro. The taste is standard macro lager - mild bready malt, mild slightly metallic hops bitter. Very boring.

From my notes 5/29/2007 pours a one-finger white head that fades quickly leaving a trace of lace. Crystal clear amber color. Skunky nose. Light carbonation and light-medium bodied. Flavor is hoppy, occasional sweetness, hoppy/metallic finish. €2.00 ($2.74) for a 330ml bottle from Euro-bar Luxembourg, Luxembourg.

Tried this beer in Luxembourg and thoroughly enjoyed it. Perfect for a day out, especially at lunch.

500ml can into Jupiler glass in Ghent, Belgium. Reviewed live.

A: A white head devoid of cream, very unappealingly thin, and of abysmal retention. Colour is a crap dark yellow.

Sm: Moderate cream and barley. Maybe caramelized malt. Mild scent.

T: Cream, stale barley, and some unwelcome crystal hops. Simply crap. Not bold, inspired, or even refreshing.

Mf: Awful and coarse; very against the style. Declares an outright vendetta against the flavours of the body. A lip of dryness just on the finish makes sure you don't get away from the wretched nastiness too easily.

Dr: Average ABV, easy drinkability, and a very low price, but low quality. A student beer.

Sampled on draft, in one of those small, rather basic, corner street Belgium Cafés.

Appearance: A very pale yellow with an incredibly bleached white head that must be covered in hair spray to retain its longevity. The “dumb blonde” of the beer world.

Smell: Is there one? I couldn’t find it despite many attempts. Deep inhalation revealed a husky aroma of Marlboro - it was a rather smoky bar though.

Taste: Starts with a cold, deeply chilled, thirst quenching introduction. As the beer gets chance to warm in the mouth some flavors are released. A light bitterness tickles the tongue but soon disappears. The one hop that is used in the mash is barely detectable by mass spectrometry. Clean tasting and exceptionally crisp.

Mouthfeel: Skips on the tongue, dances lightly and simply disappears without a trace.

Overall: Mass produced, filtered, pasteurized and probably buggered about with in every other way known to Man and Brewer. Thin, bland, inoffensive & quite simply forgettable. This is Luxembourg’s own grown “Bud”.
THE most inappropriately named Premium Lager I have ever had.
I had to try it though – and take one for BA.

Beer light yellow color, a little darker than lemonade, clear.
The head of a white, medium bubble with a lot of big bubbles and liquid dishwashing detergent.
Malt aroma, slightly reminiscent of honey dissolved in water.
Malty taste with a large dose of metal, honey sweetness on the finish.
Gentian delicate, is associated with tonic short.
Saturation of very high
Alcohol is not intrusive.

A: Dull yellow color with a medium white head that settles quickly. Scant lacing.
S: Aroma of gunmetal and black pepper.
T: Starts and finishes somewhat bitter, some malt, but lacks character and complexity. Little finish.
M: Very thin, almost water.
D: Best skipped. Difficult to be constructive about this one.

Disappointing. After my review of the Luxembourg beer Battin, I was hoping for more. Watery, flavorless, flat. This was sampled from a 33cl can, so perhaps it was the packaging. Almost a drain pour....
