I am tanking this place on service and selection for the simple but important reason that they misrepresent their stock on beermenus.com.
They update almost every other day to make minor additions, probably just to boost their link to the top of the "recently updated". But when they update, they keep beers on the list that they know they no longer have. Coincidentally, these seem to be beers that people are seeking and would likely prompt them to drive across town and go to Capone's, as I did last week.
They updated that afternoon and listed that they had Goose Island Juliet and Sierra Nevada Hoptimum, both sought after beers that had already sold out almost everywhere else in Chicago. So, I rushed over (spending about 1/2 hour in traffic) only to find that they had neither and didn't even have a space on the shelf for them. I asked the guy about it, explaining that it was listed on their beermenus that they just updated. He sheepishly claimed they "must have just run out yesterday". Like you probably are now, I was skeptical.
Well, it has now been almost a week and they have updated their beermenus 2 more times since then. Guess what 2 beers are still listed?
Oh, and their prices on beermenus are inaccurately low.
For example they list Pipeworks Close Encounter at $8.00, but they charage $8.99 and several other beers were higher than the price listed on beermenus.

Capones is a convenience and liquor store. They have a selection of 600+ micro brews, a nice spirits section and a good selection of the finest wines.

11/27/17: Went for the BCS release, was able to snag a 2017 BCS Coffee! Owner and staff very friendly, they have a wide selection of local and national craft beers, pricing was OK/Good. Glad I stopped in here and have been back since. Good local liquor store!

I called looking for a beer and he said, yes in stock. Showed up 10 minutes later and said he was sold out. I mentioned I was the one that just called and he replied it was for his customers only. I get the whole only sell limited things to regulars( I'm only there once or twice a month or should I say was) but 4 cases isn't limited and why don't you just say that over the phone therefore no time wasted and no harm done. In addition he posts on Social media Items he only sells to regulars, Most of his stock is old and everything is a buck or 2 more than everywhere else. Not worth your time so many better places in the area.

I stopped in at this place when I was waiting for the Revolution Brewery to open its tap room and I was not disappointed. The craft beer selection was fantastic and there were lots of thigns on the shelf from Revolution, Half Acre, 3 Floyds, and other local breweries that is difficult to get elsewhere. I was pleasantly surprised and will definitely find this place again the next time I visit Chicago.

Awesome Owner. He rubs some people the wrong way but I think he's a great guy. Always willing to off you a sample and give you his opinion on things. He gets new stuff everyday so you know a lot of his stuff is fresh. His selection is wide and has a lot of hidden gems you just have to look.

They announce what they have in stock. You go five minutes later and they are "sold out". It seems many of their offerings announced on social media are bait to get you in the door. I do not care to be friends with the owner, or any of the other employees, for the sole purpose of getting the reserves from behind the counter. It's just not how I like to do business. They have an absolutely fantastic selection. But honesty goes a long way.
