Enjoy the blend of chocolate and brown malts in this robust porter with crazy-rich color and ruby highlights. The subtle bitterness of chocolate is balanced by sweet, organic toasted coconut. Perfect to pair with food or just to enjoy alone. So go nuts, you'll be glad you did.

16oz. can poured into a porter glass

A- a very dark brown, some translucence on the edges with some ruby hues. A think light tan head with little lacing.

S- Big on bittersweet chocolate, with some coffee, and brown malt notes. A hint of coconut.

T- Very forward on the bittersweet chocolate and brown malts. A significant coffee bitterness. You need to search for the coconut, but it's there mid sip through the end. The dark chocolate/coffee bitterness unfortunately drowns the coconut a bit.

M- rather thick for a porter, and light to medium carbonation.

O- It's quite good, I'd like to have the coffee/chocolate bitterness backed of a bit to let the coconut shine through a bit more.

Had on tap at the Bass Lake Draft House in Holly Springs, NC.

This was an attractive beer with good clarity and a great head. the aromas and flavors reflected the expected chocolate and other standard characteristics of the style. Very well made and enjoyable beer from a local NC brewery I had never tried before.

It pours a dark brown with lots of tan head, smells of roasty malts, chocolate and hops. A little dry, roasty and bitter the way I like my porters. The coconut is there but it’s very subtle, chocolate, and perhaps a little coffee as well. This is no Death by Coconut in terms of flavor but it’s a fine Porter that’s a good sipper anytime, cheers!

Drinking this at The Valley River Brewery as a guest tap in downtown Murphy NC.
Poured from a tap into pint glass.
Looks dark brown almost black with a nice foamy tannish head that dropped quickly to a thin cap.
Smells roasty, malt, chocolate, sweet and coconut.
Taste follows the nose nicely.
Mouth feel is medium plus for the style, smooth and a little slick.
Overall a very nice coconut Porter that I would definitely order again.
Cheers!

pint can pours thick black with big tan head that has longevity, no lacing.
heavnely orgasmic aromas of roasted malt, with the dramatic coffee, dark chocolatey notes emphasized to a level I MAY HAVE NOT YET EXPERIENCED TIL NOW. It smells real good.
TAste is a very coffee like experience, in that the sweetness is fast, and the underlying complexities churn and linger nicely to a good pleasant fading finish. Want more. Coconut is invisible to me at the moment ,but it matters not. It's a great beer anyway. I'd recommend it, and will take some down south for my bros to enjoy!

Poured from 16oz can into pint glass. A thick mocha colored head falls slowly with moderate lacing. Color is very dark brown. Aroma of roasted malts, earthy hops, cocoa, and a hint of coconut. Mouthfeel is heavy with a somewhat dry finish. Flavors dark roasted barley, coffee grounds, dark chocolate, earthy hops, maybe a hint of coconut buried under all of those strong flavors. The only downer is a slight vinegar aspect that may indicate something off or infected. Overall: good.

Received a 16 oz can from a friend in the neighborhood 7-19-21, Canned 3-16-21; consumed 8-16-21.

Beer poured dark brown with a gorgeous tan head.

Nose has a nice touch of sweetness over the mildly roasted malts.

Taste follows the style with the base porter having mild roasted malts that come off with mild astringency that incorporates a nice touch of coconut. Finishes dry and balanced.

Mouthfeel is light bodied and sort of smooth.

Overall a decent beer that i would not mind trying on draft to compare.

Canned on 5/14/2021. Poured into a pint glass. It pours a deep walnut color with a large, frothy, ecru-colored head and thick, spotty lacing. The smell includes dark chocolate, freshly-brewed coffee, tobacco smoke, char, and just a whiff of coconut. Its taste is just as advertised: Up front there is chocolate nibs and fresh coffee. Behind it is base of roasted malt, burnt nuts, and earthy char. Only as it warms do I taste the coconut; it's subtle in a good way. There is pronounced bitterness at the finish. It's medium-bodied for the style with moderate carbonation and the 6.2% ABV gives it decent substance. Overall, Coco Loco is flavorful and easy to drink. If you're looking for coconut, then you may be disappointed but it's worth a try. I'm glad I bought a 4-pack

Poured from 16 oz can into traditional glass. Dark brown as advertised. Smelled chocolate and a bit if coconut. Taste was about the same. More chocolate than coconut. Actually, not much coconut at all.

Can stamped 4/28/20

Ebony hue, three fingers tan head, spotty lacing.
Cocoa, char roasted malt, pepper aromas
Cocoa, light coconut, vanilla, light hop bitterness, hint of nutty malt, green pepper.
Weird that I am smelling char roasted malt and not tasting it.
Light body. Carbonation started strong and blew through quickly.
A bit watery for the ABV, OK but not an outstanding chocolate porter.

Pint into 20zo snifter - canned Apr 28 2020

L- Beep brown, not quite black pour. Hard pour didn't produce much head.
S- Slight roast without much else
T- A bit off-putting to me. Was expecting so much more, absolutely expected coconut, not sure if they forgot it but it just isn't there. Had more of a dark chocolate, like pure coco or 90% cacao taste
F- Nothing of note, smooth without much mouthfeel, just slick and felt a bit thin
O- Not the best, I just don't understand the 4 avg rating, maybe they just haven't had something like Hawaiian Lion from Big Top or Even More Coco Jesus from Evil Twin.
