Look - pint can (canned on 8/31/22), poured into an IPA tasting glass. Golden in color, clear, with a one-finger head and little to moderate lacing.
Smell - a mixture of floral and citrus aroma. malt presence detectable. overall very pleasant on the nose, almost a bit surprisingly so given how simple it is.
Taste - the hop bitterness hits the tongue aggressively, but the malt backbone has a strong presence, which quickly balances some of the bitter notes. floral and citrus notes can both come through in the taste. finish is clean and lightly sweet, similar to some of the best representations of the style.
Feel - medium bodied, average carbonation, and relatively potent at 7.2% in a pint can.
Overall - this is an exemplary interpretation of a classic old-school WIPA, and one of the best I've had of the style in a while. A great throwback to a beloved style.

I found a 12 pack at Lowe's Foods in Ocean Isle, NC that was packaged 2 weeks earlier....as fresh as it gets for me.
I didn't hesitate.
I always wonder why I try some cleverly-named ipa when I can get this.....you know what I mean, right?
If you like wcipa, look no further..... you're pulling your pud if you think your palate is advanced so far as to differentiate between this ipa and what is considered the world's best. Stop!
Well -executed, Noda!

From a 16oz can dated 7/18/22 into a pint glass.
Pours a golden orange with about one and a half fingers of off-white head. Excellent retention and pretty decent lacing.
Smell is somewhat faint and a little one dimensional-light pine and a touch of citrus juice. not terrible but not as strong as I was expecting.
Tastes like a decent WCIPA. Piney bitterness up front with sweet dryness on the back end.
Sticky mouthfeel. Dry bitter aftertaste. Low to medium carbonation.
Great representation of the WCIPA style. Pleasure to drink.

06/14/22 stamped on bottom of can. Poured into a Samuel Adams Perfect Pint.
A: Slightly hazy gold with 1-finger frothy off-white head with ample lacing.
S: Aroma is a bit light with grapefruit, orange, lemon, and pine hop notes and a distinct medium caramel malt note. Clean with no esters.
T: Flavor is old school WCIPA from 2008 with mild light-medium caramel malt note followed by a barrage of pine, grapefruit, lemon, lime, and orange citrus notes with some herbal honeysuckle type character in the end-palate and aftertaste. Very sturdy malt backbone overall. Again, like the aroma, it’s clean with no detectable yeast character. Bitterness is high.
M: Very smooth and drinkable with medium body, moderate carbonation, and dry finish (but some of that caramel malt tackiness detracts from the dryness in the finish.
O: Hop, Drop, ‘n Roll from NoDa is an old school WCIPA with a mild caramel note that doesn’t belong as much in today’s IPA game, but plenty of wonderful hoppy flavors and high bitterness that takes you back a few years.

Pours a rich gold with nice head. Smells of fruit and herbal hops. The taste is bitter, the fruits start to shine as it warms, guessing at grapefruit, orange and maybe pineapple. It’s dry, piney, and some malt to rein it in a little. This is a West Coast IPA as intended and a little out of balance and harsh in some places but it gets better as it warms and is a good representation of the style, cheers!
