Had this one at the source! Served from tap into a NoDa sampler shaker. Poured a bright yellow-orange with a minimal white head. The aroma was comprised of sweet malt, earth, earth hop, pine, and pine hop. The flavor was of sweet malt, pine, pine hop, spice, spicy hop, and earth. It had a light feel on the palate with medium-high carbonation. Overall this was a pretty decent brew. I really enjoyed the flavor profile that was going on here as it was very appealing to the palate and crisp. This fact also made me order another pint after I was done with my sampler. The rest of the beer was pretty decent for the style, but just didn’t stand out from some others I have had in my ticking career. While this is not a bad thing, I just wish it would have swept me off my feet in some way. Definitely worth your time to try this one.

@ NoDa

Slightly hazy orange color with a nice, thick fluffy head that dissolves to a creamy topping. Big, sticky candy hop aroma...sweet, juicy citrus fruit and pineapple life saver gummies. Loads of flavor. Bold candied citrus, juicy fruitiness, grapefruit, and some mango. Medium bodied and slick with a solid bitterness. Really nice...very aromatic and flavorful. One of the best NC IPAs for sure.

Had on tap at the brewery on 10/24/2012.

Cloudy bright orange appearance with thick, off-white head that stuck around a bit. The smell was almost all citrus (grapefruit!!!) with a touch of pine. Awesome smell, as others have stated. Very crisp, citrus taste up front, and then some bitterness once the citrus trails off. Delicious and exactly the citrus taste I like in IPAs. Medium mouthfeel with light carbonation.

Overall a great beer. Can't believe it took me this long to try it. Every bit as good as some well known bottled offerings, and definitely reason to visit NoDa (or buy it elsewhere).

Visited the brewpub yesterday: pour into shaker pint glass.

A: Pours a cloudy, light-orange color. A moderate amount of white foamy head.

S: Very aromatic brew. Strong hop presence on the nose, with a combination of weed & citrus aroma.

T: The hop presence was more pronounced on the nose, but still a nice bitter flavor.

M: On the heavy side of medium; As for carbonation, a bit on the lighter side.

O: Nice representation of the style.

Had on tap at the tasting room. Pretty much a perfect IPA, huge citrus aroma and taste. Nice white head with the expected mouthfeel for a nice hoppy IPA. Definitely one of the best IPAs I have ever had. I will absolutely be seeking this out in the future.

on-tap, duckworths ballantyne

appearance: 11.5oz pour, bright golden orange body, white suds and a nice frothy lace

smell: rather unique - mango, guava, fresh citrus...touch of vanilla bean and crisp pale malt

taste: really nice IPA - the use of citra and amarillo hops provide a bright flavor profile with very little bitterness...fresh grapefruit, mango, citrus, pale malt, juicy tropical fruit. Great stuff - fairly derivative for the style, hop choices are pretty polarizing but its a nice beer and worth seeking out

mouthfeel: smooth crisp body, light bitterness, lush and tropical

overall: a winner

Pours a pale amber color with one finger off-white head and thick, consistent lacing.

Nose is an explosion of grapefruit dominated citrus flavor accented by a slight pine flavor and subtle tropical fruit notes.

Taste is almost overwhelmingly citrusy with notes of orange, grapefruit, mango, and pineapple. Solid malt backbone but the hops are definitely the strongest players in this beer.

Crisp, sweet-but-dry finish with lingering citrus hop aftertaste. Moderate carbonation.

Overall this is quite possibly the best IPA I've ever had. It is without a doubt the most aromatic and citrusy beer I've ever consumed, while still maintaining a solid malt backbone. Very well balanced beer that showcases the incredibly pungent flavors of Amarillo and Citra hops. Amazing! Can't wait to drink this one again.
