On tap at Taps in Brea.
A: Gold and transparent with an attractive white head. Nice color. Lacing is scattered.
S: Aromatic orange flesh with floral and tangerine notes. Malt is faint, redolent of bread. Nice hop profile.
T: Moderately bitter with notes of orange and tangerine flesh. Malt is light and bready. No evident alcohol.
M: Lower medium in body with upper moderate carbonation.
Overall: A tasty hoppy pale ale. I think I'll have a pint.

Pours a three finger lightly yellowed head over a clear light gold liquid. Smells lemon, orange, pine, and mildly edgy alcohol sting. A little bit of baby aspirin and apricot.
Tastes strong hop flavor and clean hop bitter over a non-descript modest malt sweet. Hop flavor is pine, lemon, pineapple, and buttery orange. Hop bitter is sharp, strong, and relatively free of grassiness. The finish dries a bit and a fairly clean alcohol makes itself known. Simple, light, and drinkable.

A: The pour is a crystal clear golden color with a nice layer of white foam on top.
S: A pretty solid IPA nose on this beer, with lots of grapefruit notes and not much in the way of malt.
T: Like you would expect, the hops are pretty front and center on the palate. The grapefruit and pine are the main flavors, with a dryness to the finish.
M: The body is medium with very lively carbonation.
D: This was definitely one of the better beers I tried tonight. The finish was perhaps a bit too dry, but overall an enjoyable beer to have a pint of.

Pours clear and golden. White, bulging head from the hand pump a little over a finger tall. Looks a little pretty, though retention is not as high as expected. Smells of sweet juicy grapefruit and some flora. Tastes of light malts, citrus, flora, and grapefruit. Some pint in the midpalate with an ever increasing pine flavor on the finish. Pine intensifies at the end for a sticky brew, more there than in the actual beer it seems. Medium bodied with a low-medium carbonation that would be expected from a cask ale. A bit sticky, needs more of a kick to the beer itself to match the robust finish.

A- golden as the name, good head for a cask of this sort
S- Their beer board lists this as a golden ale, but the hops are very evident right from the nose.
T- This was tough to figure out. OK, now I see that on BA it is listed as an IPA. It seems to hoppy to call a golden and too thin to be an IPA.
M- Good carbonation on cask. Felt maltier than the sample that I had off of the regular tap.
D- I have to give them props for trying something diffent with this beer. They might do better not calling it a golden ale, as the SoCal microbrew scene has a very defined notion of golden ales that this far exceeds.

On cask during my visit, on to the beer:
By craft brewery standards, this seemed like a lighter tasting IPA. Oh, it's still pleasantly hoppy, but not explosive. Goldenrod color with a head that leaves good lacing all around the glass. Subtle flavors in the nose, but it is more prevalent in the taste, where it's like a blonde ale with the addition of hop/pine notes. I suppose this is brewed lighter to pair with the brewpub's seafood items, might be good with halibut.
