On-tap at Taps Irvine, on to the beer:
Somewhat hazy looking and light orange colored, topped with a half-inch of head which shows modest retention. What isn't modest is the character of the hops, both aroma and flavor. it smells like citrus with a bitter orange rind, but backed with a fine malt backbone. The taste leans towards the sweet and tangy field. I taste citrus rind, grapefruit, lycee, pine, carried by a full body which doesn't show it's strength.
Looks like Taps can also hit the high standards of the Double IPA. Nice work!

Imbibed on cask at Taps on 11/22/2012.
A hazy orange with dense white head, this doesn't lace like I thought it would. Hop aroma is strong with this one. Pine, grapefruit, and lemon. Malt is present too: lots of biscuit, a little metallic. Flavor starts with lemon, quickly fades to undercooked biscuit and then gets pretty bitter. The finish isn't very clean, but it's dry. Body is slightly viscous. This is an interesting beer that I'd have if I was here again, but won't seek it out. The best of the beers I tried here today. I think this would be better on tap, as the malt really got in the way of the hops flavor at warmer temps.

On-tap at Taps Brea
The beer doesn’t look very pretty (must be the wheat). A hazy amber color with a white head and some decent lacing. Intensely citric nose to this with lots of grapefruit and tangerine, quite a bit of citrus peel in there. A ton of pineapple to it as well. Maybe a touch tropical with some guava. The flavor has a slight sharpness and alcohol taste to it which is really the only flaw. Great fruit character with the same pineapple, tangerine, grapefruit, and tropical notes that the nose had. Just a mild maltiness. Nowhere near as sweet as many IPAs of a similar strength.

On tap at Far Bar in Los Angeles, CA.
Pours a slightly murky honey orange with a bone colored head that settles to a film on top of the beer. Small dots of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of citrus fruit, citrus zest, tropical fruit, and some malt. Taste is much the same with a slightly catty flavor. There is a mild bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a good beer with a better smell than taste in my opinion.
