Aug 2015 brewery draft - pour dark black, typical porter. Brown foam. Still. Strong coffee nose. Burned bitter. Smooth mouthfeel, maybe too much so. Heavy bitter, all coffee. Good porter, but a little strong.

A really solid, flavorful porter with nice complex malt notes. Notes of coffee, dark bread, and a hint of smoke as well.

Served on tap at the Oak Park Micro Brew Review. Pours a blackish brown with minimal head and visually matches style. The features heavy smoke and robust roasted barley. Mice aromatic roasted notes here with some chocolate and oats to round things out. Taste is smokey as well with a very mild malt sweetness. Lots of flavor here with a dry and roasted finish. Mouthfeel is medium with somewhat high carbonation for the style. Overall, a nice robust porter with plenty of flavor and a high level of drinkability.

Served in a pint glass at tighthead.

This beer is quite robust. There is darkness to this that is quite pleasant. There is a coffee aroma to this that I love. The taste is really nice has a chocolaty taste to it that I really enjoy. The mouthfeel is really thinner than most of the porters I've tried recently, but I enjoy it. Overall it's a solid porter that I would definitely get again.

Served in a shaker pint glass at the TH tap room.

Anyone remember the Boxcar Children...? ... Anyway, this stuff pours a very dark burnt sienna topped by finger of oatmeal-tan foam. The nose comprises darkly-roasted malts, very light molasses, very light dark chocolate, and a bit of dark-roast coffee. The taste brings in more of the same, everything combining to form a very dark, roasty, robust flavor. Nice. The body is a straight medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a fairly dry finish. Overall, a damn fine robust porter, probably my new favorite all-around beer from TH.

This is what a porter should taste like! This is a very full bodied beer with a beautiful roasted flavor. I really enjoyed the coffee and roasted maltiness. This is a very enjoyable beer after you have worked outside in the cold all day.

Smooth robust porter, big roasted coffee and dark bakers chocolate. Medium to full mouth-feel for a porter. Slightly smokey with great carbonation. Has a creamy finish.
