Bottle. Wash myself in the waters of Lake Minnetonka. Poured a lighter copper color. Aroma has plenty of hoppiness. West Coast style citrus hops along with tropical fruit hops, too. Some malty sweetness on the nose. Flavor is pine and citrus upfront. Then I get a pretty attractive tropical fruit hop medley. Caramel malt and some breadiness. Alcohol too. Finishes bitter. I enjoyed this beer. Not a stalwart but well done.

Frequently purchase this at Four firkins and also drink at the brewery.
L: Pours brilliant copper tinted amber under a 2” white foam collar with a very fine bead.
S: Very clean with citrusy hops, fresh mown grass and malt.
T: Citrus, clean malty sweetness some moderate to moderately low fruit in the background. Complex layered hop flavors supported by a moderately high malt backbone and tempered by big alcohol. Long lingering bitter finish.
F: Just above medium body and just below medium carbonation. The alcohol is clean and not harsh – does not burn or bite.
O: This intensely hoppy and strong beer is a delight to drink.

Picked up at the Four Firkins in Minneapolis. Bottled just about three months ago. Poured right from my fridge into a pint glass.

L: Pours a crystal-clear slightly ruddy amber with about an inch of off-white head that falls fairly quickly but persists as a film that leaves decent cling. Moderate visible carbonation.

S: This one has a pleasing bouquet marked by citrus and apricot. The caramel malt underbelly shows though a bit, along with some more subtle floral and grassy hop notes.

T: The front has some nice caramel malt notes with a nice bit of tartness from the citrus hops and some nice apricot notes. The middle transitions easily into some brighter citrus rind and apricot while retaining the character of the malts. Some herbal/earthy notes also emerge. The back end sees the hops come to a head, finishing with some nice citrus rind bitter. This is a DIPA that hides its alcohol very well--it's smooth, well-balanced, and flavorful.

F: On the lighter side of medium-bodied with just a bit of a watery quality. Smooth, a bit creamy, and bitter in turns. Again, this is a very drinkable brew for the kind of ABV it's packing.

O: I enjoyed this one from Lucid quite a bit. It doesn't have huge, eye-opening hop flavors, but it's very smooth and balanced and dangerously easy to drink. I definitely recommend seeking this out, and I'll be snatching up some more whenever I get the chance.

Lucid Duo Double IPA. 9% ABV. Lucid Brewing, Minnetonka, MN.

"DUO is a double hopped sledgehammer. Sky high IBUs hammer your palate and break down your beer boundaries with each face-slapping sip. Great beer from the North that is far from Minnesota Nice!"

Clear, amber-hued, big, lasting, creamy white head, leaving lace.

Aroma: bitter and slightly sweet, resin-y, pine and citrus. Honey and grapefruit.

Taste: Astringent and bitter at first, the way all good double IPAs should be. Slightly abrasive, good amount of grit on the palate, just short of aspirin-y. Bitterness subsides just a touch, and the fruit rises and shines. Lot of hoppitude happening. Gets more mellow in the mouth, smoother and tastier. I like this one.
