Pretty much a tasting room. Stopped in for a visit to pick up a growler of Fudge du Loc and have a look around while in the Soo on a visit. No food is served on premises, but you can bring food in from one of the many places to eat on the main strip (try the Palace across the street for decent Mexican). Folks there were having a good time, the staff and customers were chatting it up and no one seemed like they wanted to be anywhere else. The atmosphere was such that next time I'm in the Soo, I'm grabbing lunch and bringing it there so I can spend an hour or so sipping on brews and enjoying the company.

This is a comfortable place to drink. Big tables with pews and a section with puffy couches to lounge on. There are magazines, books, and games to entertain. They had 8 beers on tap when I visited. I had a point each of the Grand cru and the laker gold. The grand cru was a cloudy golden orange color. It had a light aroma and was an easy drinker. This beer was more like a strong of an American wheat (such as Bell's Oberon) than a Belgian type brew. The laker gold was a light golden ale. This beer had a tiny note of funk in the finish and aroma.

Great place to just hang and drink beer
Relaxed atmosphere, games to play and owner loves to talk with you. I have been there twice and have enjoyed his brown and Dortmunder that stand out. They don't have food but they will let you bring in food and have local menus you can order out from.

My wife and I stopped here as part of a pub crawl in northern Michigan and the UP to visit the newer brewpubs (plus several others) that have opened since our last trip ‘up north’. This brewery opened last year, but whatever the beers tasted like back then when compared to today does not indicate any improvement since then if they were average when the brewery opened. We had a sampler glass of all 7 beers that were available (plus the house-brewed root beer), but we graded all of them in a range of C+ to a C. (The root beer was excellent.) They were all right-on as far as the style, but none of them were exciting.

There is no food available, but a nice touch that they have here is the small bag of unshelled peanuts that is on each table. However, the pub is food friendly, and being in the downtown area (within walking distance of the Soo Locks) there is likely a good choice of places to have carry-in or order-in.

I came here a few times while visiting home over Christmas 2011. They are located on Portage Street, which is the main road for the Soo Locks tourist shops in our small town of Sault Ste. Marie. It is nice looking on the outside, as you can see from the picture i took of it. When you walk in there is a small bar and a whiteboard with the current beer selections. behind the bar you can see all of the brew kettles and fermentor tanks, which gives the place a cool feel. For seating there are some wooden pews and wooden tables. Also, there are some really comfortable couches, as well as an assortment of board games and such for entertainment. All the beers that I have tried here have been quite good, which is something I was surprised by being that this place is in the Soo. There really isn't much for service. One guy at the bar counter getting there beer and money, he is friendly though and thats really all that matters. I noticed over the course of my christmas vacation that the tap lineup changes quite often, especially for such a small town. So don't expect to always see the same stuff on tap when visiting, there will usually be something you might not have tried yet. They don't serve food here, but they do have a special friday deal on a pint and a slice of pizza from a local pizza place which is cool. Also, You can bring in or order your own food, and I think that is totally awesome. The prices here are great too, especially since I'm used to NYC prices. Anyways, I would say this is a must visit place when in SSM. It is the only place you can go to for some decent craft beer. I just wish they would have opened sooner since I moves about a thousand miles away a few months before they were open. I will continue to go there on every trip home and support a great business that the Sault so desperately needs. Anyways, I definitely recommend that you check it out, you won't be disappointed.
