Wow. This may be the best beer that ever made it out of Indiana. I always thought somebody must be making good beer there, and now I found someone. In the six years my son went to school there.

It could also be that I really never encountered anything of this style, have I, but I am usually a fan of styles Americanne. This may not be over the top like the hoppy things, but it is a special brew. American means a bit more....of everything. This one does that with a very nice balance.

I would definitely take a Titan Four Barrel any time.

Pours a deep ruby in color, with a pleasant head of off-white foam and loopy 2-finger lace.

Nose - sweet & malty, with touches of toffee, maple and roasted nuttiness. Very in tune with Fall.

Flavor is caramel-nutty malts, with a slight hint of citrus hops to round off the finish. This brown ale is nicely balanced and quite enjoyable. Would pick up again, easily.

Big thanks goes out to BeerBuddy2122 for this one as a part of a recent trade! Served from bottle into a Duck-Rabbit nonic. Poured a brownish red-orange with a one finger off-white head that subsided to a minimal amount slowly. Maintained phenomenal lacing throughout the glass. The aroma was comprised of sweet malt, caramel, wood, nutty, earth, and subtle roasted malt. The flavor was of sweet malt, nutty, subtle tart, caramel, and earth. It had a light feel on the palate with high carbonation. Overall this was a decent brew. Something about this one seemed a little bit off to me. The tart note that I got was screaming potential infection. Really kind of sad considering what I was hoping for on this one. Worth your time trying at least once if you get the opportunity.

On tap at Mudsocks. Served in a pint glass.

A - Dark brown, nice creamy head.

S - Some nuttiness with dark malts. Nothing crazy or potent, just above average.

T - Hops are certainly present, more so than others of the style. Bitter finish that almost provides a brett-like at first, dry on the finish. Some mild nutty flavors come through, some malts, but the hops drive the flavor.

M - Lighter and easy drinking. Appropriate for a brown.

O - Not a fan. I like the idea, but I think it could have been executed better. Just kinda average.

On draft at Scotty's in Bloomington.

Pours dark brown with a pretty good white creamy head.

A little bit of bready malt, perhaps a little nut aroma. Nothing really stands out much.

Some bready malt again on the flavor. A little hopper than a normal brown provides a nice spicy dry finish.

Light on mouthfeel. Not horrible, but at times it was watery.

Decent beer although I'd still take Railsplitter any day. Worth a shot for trying something new.

I got this on draft at Scottys Brewhouse on 96th St. It arrived with a creamy two finger cream colored head. The nose is soft, malty, has an ever so slight roast element, and a moderate amount of grain. The flavors essentially mimic the aromas. It's a little more bitter than the nose would lead you to believe. It is very light and smooth and ultimately easy to drink on draft. It's a solid brown, just nothing spectacular.
