On tap in Allen, Texas. (I couldn't find another listing for this beer so I posted the review here).

The beer pours a yellow color with a white head. I get a lot of sweet grain for an aroma, with not too much else going on. The flavor is similar. The grain and malt notes are very sweet. I also get some grass and a bit of a metallic quality. Thin mouthfeel and medium carbonation. This one missed the mark.

BJ's Octoberfest | BJ's Restaurant & Brewhouse. Served on tap at the North Canton, OH location, this beer's head is 2 fingers thick, with lateral lacing, and a medium amber body.

I smell honey biscuit and toasted malts.

Tastes very similar to the smell, with a mild hop zing arriving mid-palate.

The mouthfeel is medium with mild carbonation.

Overall, I'll rate BJ's Octoberfest | BJ's Restaurant & Brewhouse with a 4.5. Like the others have said, this is lacking depth with the malts. Otherwise, this would be a top-notch Märzen.

'Tis the season... for ghosts & goblins, for fall beer festivals, for harvesting the summer's bounty... and for drinking Octoberfest beer! BJ's self-titled beer catches the essence of those German varieties with a sweeter and rounded tone.

Light copper, amber and nearly orange, the bright lager glows while a toasty, sweet grain scent garners steam. A hint of herbal hop, a floral pass and a hint of honey greets the nose. Flavors of light bread crust, honey, cashew and granola carry a sweeter and grainy balance to start.

With little development across the middle an sense of simple syrup, off-caramel, honey and soft elegant nuttiness washes the tongue with malt, only with a mild minty-hop balance that takes the shape of mild grassiness, peppery bitterness and a light lemongrass linger.

Finishing semi-dry, medium-bodied and refreshing for fall, the malt-centric taste settles in with bratwurst, potato dumplings and German chocolate.

A - Thin white head on top of a golden brown body. Nice retention and lacing

S - Light sweet caramel malt simple aroma.

T - Bready malt up front with some spicy hops and burnt toast that is balanced by moderate bitterness. Myself and nickfl both enjoyed this one at the same time and came to this same conclusion.

M - Medium body and moderate carbonation.

Overall: Drinkable and relatively standard taste and aroma for the style.
