Jee whiz... what a swell drink. After inundating my precious buds with that garbage water known as Great Divide's Titan IPA, does this really make a guy appreciate not drinking Great Divide Titan IPA. With a kickin' bod like Scarlett Johan, and a dark tone like a sunburnt Michelle Obam, this is one helluva coffee stout. Don't listen to the swine and scum who would erroneously lead you to believe that this has been misspiced or otherwise shanghaied the coffee flavors. They are great dishonor. My buddy brought this one out to me for my birthday and I cherish the light that it has brought into my family. If you are within the regional distribution radii of this here brewdog, you should get on it like you were randy for Scarlett Johan.

Surprised to see this beer only rated an 81.

I'm a couple beers deep, but this beer is damn good. It's a coffee stout style. The look is a nice opaque dark brown. The smell is like my black coffee in the morning with a slight presence of roasty-ness and minor vanilla notes. The taste is a rich, deep flavor of roasted malts with mild hop flavor to even things out. The feel is perfect for a breakfast...Easy to drink (with wood). Overall, very good coffee stout. One of my favorites from the midwest region so far. Prost!

Produced a 1 finger, tan head when I poured it. The beer color is a deep brown, (non-translucent).

The aroma was of biscuit, coffee, roasted malts.

The taste was similar, but with, possibly, a little dark chocolate. Had a slight hop bitterness, but the beer is well balanced. This is a lighter bodied, and easier drinking coffee stout than most I've had. Still plenty of flavor, but you can easily down more of it. I'd call it a low carbonated, medium bodied brew.

Definitely will buy again.

Big tan to light brown head slowly dies down above a clear super thick super dark brown to black colored beer.

Decent amount of aroma coming from this beer consisting of dark roasted malts, light coffee grounds, a bit of dark bakers chocolate, with a grain like aspect to it.

Dark bakers chocolate, dark roasted malts, along with a bit of light coffee coming through in the taste of this Morning Wood.

Dryish aftertaste with a bit of the dark malts tastes sticking around with this full bodied beer.

Also seems that as this beer sits and warms a bit that the dark chocolate and the black coffee aspects in the aroma and taste seem to come to the forefront a bit more, adding to this beer.

I'm glad it's sort of cold outside, seems to make this beer even better.

On tap at Republic-Uptown

A-Served in a pint glass this beer is dark brown/black with a think layer of dark tan head.

S-Beautiful aroma of dark roasted coffee beans, mocha-ish with nice roasted malts.

T-Very similar to the aroma, the coffee and barley malt meld together nicely. This beer finishes quickly yet robustly. Very nice.

M-Nice medium yet creamy body that is extremely easy to drink.

O-This is a smooth, delicious coffee stout that is on par with its peer in this category. Very well done-looking forward to other beers from this new brewery. Rumor has it they will be out in retail come January.

The first thing that you noticed with this beer is its dark coloration, you can hardly see through it even when holding it up to the light. It pours nicely and has a chocolaty scent to it. When you take your first sip it has a definite coffee taste which isn't surprising since the box says they actually use Dunn Brothers coffee beans in the brewing process. This is a very smooth drinking beer, It is also very rich.. I can't help but thinking this beer would go well with some Bacon, Eggs, and Hashbrowns after a rough night

Morning Wood pours a black color with a small tan lacing head. There is a a creamy aroma with lots of coffee and chocolate notes. The taste has a nice roasted malty backbone, with a lots of strong coffee notes, and an almost bitter aftertaste. A bit watery, but nice flavors. Overall its a nice coffee beer, no frills nothing fancy.

Breakfast aromas of fresh baked bread and fresh brewed black coffee dominate the nose with some grain smells in the background reminiscent of sprouted barley as it is just starting to kiln.
Pours bright coffee black with a dense 3" light tan foam cap that leaves thick lace.
The palate shows a good balance between the dark roast elements, hops and malt. It starts creamy with hints of caramel, cola to introduce coffee that especially dominates the after taste.
It has the creamy oatmeal texture with a hint of slickness in a big body with slightly below average carbonation.

Big Wood is basically my hometown brewery. They have great beer- leading with this Morning Wood (I don't care to comment on their not so great beer). I love that it features Dunn Bros. Nice, dark, coffee stout with above average finish. Can only enjoy one pint/can at a time because of its robust taste. But, I truly enjoy that one pint.
