Looks like a nice porter - pours dark brown, like comes through, sits black in the glass with a light beige head. Cinnamon spice, pepper heat as well as a vegital note, cocoa and some sweeter vanilla that's more of a milk chocolate flavor - aroma and flavor on par with one another. Smooth medium bodied, goes down easy with a pepper kick at the finish.

Really nice.

12 oz pour into a snifter glass on tap.

A: Body is black with no breaks in that continuity. Head is small and off white.

S: Peppers right up front, followed by some cinnamon, and chocolate, with maybe a hint of coffee.

T: As it hits your tongue you notice the cinnamon right away and then the peppers you can actually taste the pepper very well then the soight head from the peppers. Once you get to the middle you pick up some of the chocolate and coffee then it finishes with a more developed pepper taste and heat then cinnamon.

M: Medium to a lighter body the cinnamon gives it a little bit more of a lively carbonation feel then I think it has.

O: Excellent mexican porter here. The peppers really shine on this one whch is something I feel other types of these do not flesh out enough. Also enjoy the fact its not huge alcohol. This is something to definately be on the look out for.

Sample from the brewery. Pours a deep, ebony black from the can with a dense, mousse-like head of beige foam. Inviting to behold in a glass. Lots of chocolate and cinnamon (especially) in the nose, with a tickle of smoky, spicy chili pepper just detectable in the background. Overall, the aroma fairly successfully walks the line between sweet and spicy. Medium- to full-bodied, Mexican Standoff hits the palate with dark malt complexity, followed by a bump of chocolate and cinnamon reminiscent of a cookie. The chili pepper's heat shows up with its prickly sensation immediately afterwards and lingers well into the slightly chalky finish. Full of character and flavor, this Imperial Porter has much to offer for fans of the mole beer category.
