App: Black, semi-opaque, tan head that quickly dissipates to film. No obvious hazy.
Aro: Sweet-cinnamon up front with a touch of doughy maltiness to follow. After hints of cold-drip coffee in between cinnamon waves.
Tas: Light malt with moderate roast notes with spicy waves of cinnamon followed by coffee. Tangy-off in the final wave of flavor before it trails into roast. Could be a doughy tanginess but tastes more off. No noticeable hops/esters/phenolics.
Mou: Medium-light body with moderate carbonation that trails into a full, heaviness that coats the tongue that I associate with cinnamon.
Ove: Medium bodied, moderatately carbonated stout without noticeable hops with coffee notes mid-taste into finish that are constantly chased by cinnamon notes and a bizarre, not all unpleasant tanginess.

Re-review: Had a second bottle and while there was some sweetness it did not manifest into any tartness. Upgrading the rating overall to reflect.

Previous review: Big time off-flavours in here. Contacted Due South to spot check some of their bombers. It tastes like it could be heading into sour land. Rating: 1.92

Neat beer, thanks to rudzud.

Pours a decent creamy fizzy head that hits a finger then fades quickly, light lacing, very dark color.

Nose is decent, lots of fresh coffee grinds, not brewed, some maple icing and candy, creamy lactose sugar and lots of icing, light sweet glaze and smoky note, faint fudgey cocoa.

Taste starts with sweet candy, lots of icing, with light choc icing notes, into coffee grinds, more acid roast, some nutty peanutbutter, lactose sweet candy icing, doughnut glaze, etc. Finish is sweet icing, burnt roasted coffee grinds, little choc icing.

Mouth is med bod, nice carb.

Overall there is a lot to be desired.

Received as an extra. Pretty neat seeing how I missed this at EBF. Shared with JLindros. Bottled on 3/9/15.

A - Poured into a Kate the Great tulip a light black brown hue with a thin head that faded slowly to leave thin wisps.

S - Aromas of chocolate icing and coffee. Coffee with cream and sugar, light chocolate.

T - Taste is similar to the nose lots of chocolate icing, crispy donut, coffee with cream and sugar. Delivers what it promises, coffee and donuts. Not the best quality tastes but still tasty.

M - Mouthfeel is nicely carbonated, creamy yet bright.

O - Overall this beer delivered what it promised, doesn't mean it couldn't have been executed better...could have used cocoa nibs, more fresh coffee, but yeah well played.

EBF sample. Due South is doing the Funky Buddha thing. Calling All Cars is a coffee donut beer. It smells the part! The coffee is clearly there. Roasty. There is a sweet, pastry doughy smell that is reminiscent of a donut. The flavor actually really does taste like a glazed donut. Nailed the donut thing. Sweet, doughy, bakery goods. And the coffee is right there as well. The coffee is turned down just a bit so the donut taste can be more clearly defined. Lighter bodied. I actually really enjoyed this one. Who knows if they're using artificial flavors with this beer because it's almost too spot on to be natural.

Smells fantastic! Glazed donut and a hint of coffee. Tastes of sour coffee grounds on the front with a little spiced sugar on the sides of the tongue and soft pallette. I want to like it more than I do... As the beer warmed, the sourness subsided slightly, but it never went away. It wound up taking too much focus from the really cool elements of the beer.
