Very nice craft option in what is kind of a beer desert in Rogers Park.

Friendly staff and about 8-10 solid craft drafts. They also seem to hold onto rare bottles for a while, so if there's something you missed in stores, you may still be able to try it here.

Atmosphere is a bit plain, but you're here for the beer, not the decor, so no big deal. Prices are also reasonable for what you're getting.

really nice spot that is worth a visit for sure.

Located around Devon and Clark where there aren't too many other good craft beer bars around - Norse Bar definitely fills that need.

They have about 12 beers on tap that they rotate through just about every week. So, odds are that they have something that will perk your interest - even for the beer advocate who's had just about everything. They also have a pretty extensive bottle list too, but the tap selections are a much better value.

The prices are decent too. The more limited, higher alcohol beers usually run around $8 for a snifter, but you can pretty much always get a legit 16oz pint of Little Sumpin' Sumpin' for $5. So you don't have to spend a ton of money. Also, they don't serve food (they do serve free pretzel rods) but you are welcome to bring your own food or order it in. Dogs are allowed as well, which I think is cool. The service has always been great here too.

The Norse Bar has been my go to craft beer bar since it opened. Ben, Ian and Freddie are great and I always have an awesome time here. They always let us bring our bottles in to open, so long as we share, which I'm happy to do, it is beer advocacy after all!

They don't have a kitchen or food, but they welcome people bringing their own food in as well.

Also, they introduced me to Cards Against Humanity which is great in itself.

From the outside it's fairly nondescript, a narrow storefront on Clark with tall windows and a trio of neons: Lagunitas, Duvel, and Founders. Inside it's dim and fairly open, sparse layout with some booths on the left and a bar with 12-15 seats on the right. About 12 taps behind the bar. In the back there's an arcade game with multiple retro games and some tables. They are dog friendly, and you can bring in food.

Service was the highlight, Freddy the bartender chatted beer and local topics the whole time, and was helpful navigating the beer selection.

Selection was good, especially for the area, not much around besides Uncommon Ground near here. Finally seeing Lagunitas Sucks again was the highlight for me, there was also a Vander Mill cider aged in a Backwoods Bastard barrel (Founders Keepers) but it wasn't too different from their other ciders. Tap selection: Victory Braumeister, Rev Bottom Up, Vicaris, Sumpin Sumpin, Union Jack, MKE Louie's, Tyranena Rocky's, Bear Republic Hop Rod, Founders Porter, and Brooklyn BCS. Bottles had a couple gems from Boulevard and Founders. No traditional lambics or sour ales besides Monk's... few IPAs, in line with the staff's preferences. A couple new beers from new startup Spiteful, GFY and Jingle Balls.

Overall it's a good place to hit if you're on the far north side, near Evanston/Skokie/Loyola. City-wide there are better bars, though the Norse is a great local spot.

Norse is on the far northside of chicago, just south of Devon on Clark (a quick trip on the 22 bus for you Lincoln Park-to-Andersonville types).

My first time in there, I ended up having a great conversation about craft beer with the bartender and somehow managed to NOT try the tap of 3 Floyd's Stygian Darkness. I had just enjoyed some rare-ish DFH - Don't ask. They gave me some Worcestershire sauce to go after I got a request on my cell and they let my Westie roam around.

Second time in there same type of conversation, different bartender. A neighbor who I chat up about beer happened to be there. Drank a bottle of Double Crooked Tree IPA and a pint of Revolution's Eugene Porter from their tap.

It's official - they're my local bar.

A great addition to the neighborhood. I love the chill vibe of this place. No attitude at all, just a nice comfortable place to enjoy a brew and talk or watch tv or play Nintendo. The draft beer selection is well-chosen, although not huge. I always find something I like, and there's often something that I haven't tried before. The bartenders are nice guys and are just as interested in good beer as I am. If you live in Edgewater/Rogers Park, or are on your way to Evanston up Clark Street, stop by. Try the pretzels!

This is our new neighborhood bar, literally right around the corner from us, so we would be super-stoked about it no matter what.

That caveat aside, it's a really chill place. Lots of TVs for watching the game, you can play board games, there's darts, there are friendly waitstaff who are happy to bring samples.

My boyfriend ordered a draught beer but there was only half-a-pint left, so they brought him that half-pint for free along with a taste of a different tap they thought he might like. So 5 for service--that's genuinely wonderful! It would be nice if there were food, but they do let you order in pizza/tacos/whatever you like, and they bring you pretzels! We have a lot of good bars in Chicago, but this is the best one in our neighborhood--you'd have to get down to Hopleaf before coming to anything comparable in terms of selection. We plan to be back often.

This new bar in the Edgewater / Rogers Park area is one that the neighborhood needed. The staff is really nice and you can tell they're into craft beer not by just what they carry, but they love to talk about it as well as make great suggestions based on what you already like.

Wanna watch the game? Big screens throughout the bar placed so that no matter where you are standing or sitting all you need to do is look up and the tv is in clear view.

There's also darts, an arcade game and what's really cool is the two Nintendo Wii stations available for free. Just ask the bartender for the joysticks.

For beer, the selection is pretty good. They have on tap New Belgium Lips of Faith "Clutch" as well as some Founder's, Tripel Kareliet, some Avery Brewing and very good bottle selection as well. I had Kasteel Rouge the other night and will be back for the Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout.
