Pours a pleasant, cloudy gold with smell of pear, mint, lime. Taste is sweet malt forward with a transition to a blend of fruit notes, mint/basil, with some mild sour notes suggestive of brett leading to a pleasantly clean finish. Medium bodied with plenty of effervescence and astringency.

Overall, a really great saison - the rhubarb and basil are a pleasant addition without making it too fruity or cloying. Palate cleansing, goes great with chinese food, ribs.
I got this beer as part of a monthly subscription (craft x) and I was pleasantly surprised by how good it was.

First time I had heard of this one, but Windmill Farms generally gets Latitude 33 beers pretty quickly. A top-20 brewery going in (average 4.012 rating) heading in, so kind of a homer for it. This one was going to be interesting, labeled as a saison ale brewed with rhubarb and basil. Back of the can read, “Assembling an unlikely cast of characters, Syndicate Saison offers a pairing of flavors that work perfectly together to create an almost criminal brew. This limited release has unparalleled notes of basil up-front followed by ripe pear and berry ending with fresh rhubarb—charming the depths of your senses.” Not sure I would be able to pick out basil.

Poured a bright gold hazy color with 2-to-3 fingers of frothy off-white head. Lots of fast-moving bubbles coming up along the sides of the glass. Excellent foamy lacing. World-class retention. (Sight - 4.50)

Smelled lemon, ginger, rhubarb (first time I could ever say that for a beer), lime, pear, red apple, mint, berry, herbal, clove, grass and menthol. Got much of the same from the can. (Smell - 4.25)

Taste was not as good as the nose, but still solid. Got lemon, ginger, lime, bitter rhubarb, pear, red berry, mint, pepper, clove, herbal, grass, green leaf, peach, menthol and honey. (Taste - 4.00)

Light-to-medium body. Creamy texture. Lively carbonation. Long, bitter, spicy finish. (Feel - 4.00)

Was legitimately surprised at how much I liked this. Will be tracking this down again. Latitude 33 does it again. (Overall - 4.00)
