Appearance - This came out of the tap a light, glowing orange in color with a cheap-looking head.

Smell - The strong grain isn't bad and it's mated to a nice PacNWy hop profile.

Taste - The hops are much thicker at the taste. The snappy grapefruit demands your attention right off the bat and the leafy hop bitterness all but drowns out the modest grain flavors.

Mouthfeel - This is a bit bigger than light-bodied but shy of medium. It really gets your salivary glands working yet isn't overly bitter.

Drinkability - This is a good, refreshing APA made just right for hot California nights.

One of BJ'S better offerings. Not exactly impressed but it's a decent take on a pale ale. If your at the restaurant and want something hoppy, this is a good one.

just lighter than amber color with an ever present layer of foam. carbonation on the light side.

light citrus and malt aroma. some lemon zest (which i am liking more each time i come across it) as well.

nice mellow taste. good level of hop bitterness with some influence from the lemon zest to fill things out.

good mouthfeel and an easy all day drinker. not mind blowing, but would easily keep me interested for long periods.

A: The pour is a light amber color with a fluffy white head and plenty of sheets of lacing.

S: The nose is full of juicy grapefruit along with some sweet citrus notes and sweet caramel malt.

T: The flavor is a bit disappointing after the nose with some bready malts and mild citrus hop flavor. The bitterness on the finish is fairly light.

M: The body is medium with a moderate level of carbonation.

D: Probably the best offering on this particular stop at BJ's. The nose was quite nice, but I was a bit let down by the flavor. That said, still an easy beer to take down.

This was my "appetizer" during my visit 8-23-08. on to the beer:

This is a very sessionable pale ale. It has a kick of hops upfront like most APA's. It's hoppy, yet balanced. It's more of a mellow bitterness with soft sweet citrus. There are bits of bready malts in the clean aftertaste. A simple and tasty pale ale.

Since i live practically across the street from a BJ's, i figured it was time to give them a try. Naturally, out of all their beers i steered towards the pale ale.

Glowing red-ish with a slight head. Lacing all the way down.

Muted nose, mostly hops that hinted towards the flavor to come.

Quite delicious, i love cascade hops and this beer has plenty of them! The taste lingered from sip to sip, calling for me to pick the glass back up. I had a pulled pork sandwich and this beer complimented it beautifully.

Mouthfeel was strong, dry hoppy, almost oily. Full and wonderful.

Could drink about six pints without thinking twice.
