A nice attempt but it doesn't really stack up to a good hefe. Has a nice cloudy appearance and could easily be picked out of a lineup as a hefe by the aromas but it pretty much stops there. The mouthful is rather watered down and the taste is more similar to a Belgian wit than a German Hefeweizen. Either way . . . Just ok.

A: The pour is a cloudy golden color with a fluffy white head on top.

S: The nose is quite spicy for a hefeweizen with lots of coriander and clove with a decent amount of banana and perhaps a bit of orange.

T: The flavor is similar to the nose but a bit heavier on the spices and a little less of the banana flavor. In addition, there is some sweet malt and wheat along with a yeasty character.

M: The body is medium with a moderate carbonation, but perhaps a touch low for the style.

D: It's always nice to see an attempt at an actual hefeweizen rather than the crappy sour wheat ales. As usual for a BJ's beer, not my favorite, but passable.
