Pours hazy amber with a 2 finger foamy creamy beige head that lasted a little while and almost looked like cream; left decent lacing that was spotty.

Smells of sweet malt, faint caramel, light hops, lemon and some grains. Pretty mellow nose overall, the sweet malt and hop zest being the dominant odors.

Tastes of sweet malt, caramel, flower, grass, pine, grains or bread, citrus and hops. After a second glass the bread taste seemed toasted, and there were hints of honey, citrus hops, some very mild spices and a slight metallic taste like a penny. The beer is bitter with a zesty pucker in the finish, but it still manages to be quite drinkable. Not the most complex beer, but it was decent overall and leans towards the sweet side.

Mouthfeel is smooth, with medium to light carbonation and a medium to heavy body that borders on chewy, but still manages to have a crisp feel to it.

I found it easy to drink and enjoyable, but the flavor is just a tad too basic for me to keep drinking this all night. It's a good beer and I enjoyed this bomber, but this is not something I would seek out; I'll drink it again, but I like some of the other more flavorful Coney Island beers much better.

Poured from a 1 pint, 6oz bottle.

Orange head dissipates to lace in less than a minute. Deep amber/brown hue - very dark for a lager - it looks more like a glass of iced tea.

Sweet malt with slight hop citrus character - something a little sulfuric on the nose.

The palate was rather bland - which is surprising. Bread notes more apparent as I leave the beer to sit and warm a bit. Sour back end with no real finish.

Very watery consistency. Refreshing, but dull. No bite of effervescence.

Drinkable - not horrible - I would buy again but would not actively seek out this beer.

According to the label - "Schmaltz Brewing Co. invites you to witness the delectable alchemy of 8 malts, 6 hops & Czech pilsner yeast."

Pours a clear orangy amber with a huge fluffy head.

The nose is sweet and fruity with a big green apple presence. I pick up caramel, biscuits, molasses, and a touch of alcohol. A lot going on, but not much of it is cohesive.

On the palate, it opens with floral hops and buttery biscuits. A sour green apple flavor dominates, and there are some hints of rubbing alcohol. It's pleasantly hoppy and dry, but the carbonation is a bit too, tingly.

I finally found this for a reasonable price ($3.49 a bomber), and I'm glad I didn't pay more than that. It's not a horrible beer, but it's too reminiscent of sour apple candy for my taste.

A: Slightly hazy amber color. Minimal head and lacing.

S: Well-balanced malt and hop aroma.

T&M: Medium bodied lager that is nice. Semi-sweet, but the hops are there too.

Very good for a lager. Nothing to scream at, but I'd definitely drink another if the situation arose.

This beer has me laughing my ass off. Friend at the firehouse bar refers to a "Coney Island Beer" as one with all head and nothing else.

Not what i expected. beer form Coney island Stinks. This poured with a dark amber color, very little head and no lacing. odor is unremarkable, similar to and macro Irish Red. taste is somewhat pleasant though. Fuller than most lagers with a nice finish. A great option over Budweiser, Killians or othe macro's.

Poured from a bomber bottle into a pint glass. Cool label with a grinning "joker" as my son said.

A- What a nice reddish brown color that show a 2 finger head for a little while.

S- I'm getting green apple, slight hop and malt.

T- This tastes very much like one of my favorite everyday beers, Saranac Amber. Not to thin, fresh and alot of tingle on the taste buds.

M- Medium bodied with the right amount of carbonation for this type of beer.

D- Having lived in Brooklyn, I can see myself taking the "F" train down to Coney Island for a Nathan's hotdog, a couple Lagers, and a ride on the Cyclone. Very good summer beer. Where's my blanket?

I had this beer at 2 different places during a recent visit to NYC. One time it was in bottles and another time on tap. Both tasted differently. The tap version was way too malty for my liking. But the bottle version was A-OK and a rather decent tasting lager.

650ml bottle poured into pint glass jan6 2010

A clear copper with a few bubbles feeding a thumbs width of off white head that leaves a few specks of lace

S lots of caramel with some guava and biscuit

T what I smell but with plenty of sweet malts, some faint booze and just a little pine

M full for the color, a little syrupy and just enough carbonation to give it some life

D I had no issues taking the bomber down by myself and could drink another if I had one

a nice hopped up lager with a big malt backbone, I like the tropical fruits with sweet malt it works well and I could see myself drinking this again

I had this beer the other night in a bomber. The appearance was very enticing - almost looked like ice tea during the summer. The smell was honey and citrus. The taste was very strong in honey which is odd that I don't see that mentioned in a lot of the reviews. Drinkability for this is very high and I wish I could get a better price for it than $4.99 a bomber. This beer would be fantastic during the summer.
