Pot at Young & Jackson's.

Pours a true, clear, golden colour, with a centimetre of white foam that disintegrates fast. Decent lacing.

Smell is dull and dated sweet citrus. Pungent and not good. Oh dear!

Taste has more if the same, except you can't just withdraw the glass from your nose whenever you want. Sweet, jaded and murky citrus flavour that twangs.

The body is ok for the beer, but the sweetness hits and builds.

Not enjoyable. Won't be ordering another. Just twangy, sweet and unenjoyable.

330 ML poured into a tulip

A-- Poured a clear, honey orange color. Two finger white head that slowly drops off to a good, thick collar. Good head retention on swirling and nice, compacted head. Leaves a nice, soapy film on the sides of the glass.

S-- Honey, orange zest, Carmel, and sweet bread. Not a huge nose, but good for the ABV.

T-- Sweet, yet slightly stale bread. Kind of a dull, faded orange, with light bits of lemon taste as well.

M-- Light bodied, prickly carbonation and creamy. Orange sickle and tart lemon finish, that finishes quite dry and clean. A little metallic in the mid palate that is not real suitable.

O-- Nothing really wrong with this, yet nothing really great about it either. Finding this in a lot of Sydney restaurants of late. Pairs well with a lot of food and it is easy drinking enough. Just not enough to make me want to go get another one. Good for style but really pretty average.

330ml bottle poured into a pint glass

A- Pours a clear light gold with about an inch of bubbly head that fades away to a whisper. not too shabby.

S- upfront a bit of sweet malts, followed closely by some citrusy, peppery hops. cant get a whole lot more than that, its pleasant though.

T- sweet upfront, a little bit of grassy hop, but nowhere near what was on the nose, a touch watery near the end. a little bit disappointing, really not much going on.

M- on the lighter side, some spritzy carbonation that seems to tingle all through the mouth. a bit light bodied.

O- i had high hopes for this one, but was ultimately a little disappointed. Seemed restrained, and a too light.

Two birds golden

From Beer Cartel. No BB

Pours a lovely fluffy white head over a clear golden body. Lovely clumpy lace throughout.

Aromas of Floral hops, grapefruit, pineapple.

Taste is a little more stale or dull. Still citrus in the mix but muddled. Moderate hop bitterness, a little like James Squire hop thief.

Mouthfeel on the money for style light and well carbonated.

Better APAs out there and that is a fact, not helped by lingering bitter note as an aftertaste.

I had a 330ml bottle.
Appearance: light golden colour, lighter than expected. Clean and fresh looking. Light head that dissipates quickly.
Aroma: honey, lolly fig aromas present but only mild. Some light background unpleasant sulphur aroma as well.
Flavour: underwhelming I'm afraid. Given all the hype about this brewery I expected a much more flavoursome craft beer. Very little hops bitterness and mild palate with no distinct character. It is easy drinking and would be sessionable and popular with the masses as an accompaniment to good food / pub food. Overall: Looking for positive notes to add but this one falls short. Average at best. Let's hope I just got a bad batch this time and the general product is better. Whoever set the beer up got the category wrong. This is not an APA.

Bottle: standard 330mL brown bottle with a stylish micro label.

Appearance: a deep golden amber with a light haze. A thin, one-finger white head with minimal lacing. Decent looking beer, but nothing spectacular.

Aroma: quite a mild aroma - not much other than some sweet malts (possibly biscuit) and floral / grass hops. Quite pleasant, but not strong enough.

Taste: follows from the nose - floral and grass hops and those sweet malts come through more strongly. More a refreshing pilsner-style than a slow sipping ale.

Aftertaste: the hops come through more strongly in the aftertaste.

Mouth feel: fine yet steady carbonation with a light-to-medium body.

Overall: a light yet refreshing pale ale that could be a good sessional apart from the pricing at AU$74 a case is a little optimistic.

Pours amber with a small head.
Nose shows caramel and faint nutty notes alongside soft floral hints.
Flavours perfectly mirror the aromas, with more caramel dominating. Rather sweet.
Could use a lighter body, or more carbonation.
Nice but too sweet.

A nice, easy drinking ale with stone fruit and subtle tropical flavours coming through. However, not an APA (and not reviewing as an APA) - can't remember them advertising it as being this style though?...

aroma and taste: stone fruit with some bready malt and spice, pepper, some light grassy flavours and aromas with a touch of tropical fruit and peach.

refreshing, summer beer - when you feel like something light with good flavour.

Had on tap at Harts Pub.

Pours a shiny clear gold with light bead. Modest white head, small bubbles, minimal lace. Looks like beer; pretty par.

Smells fairly grainy and malty at first. Touch of earthy, toasty character and gently tangy hops giving a touch of fruit - lemon and apple mostly. More fruity, slightly resinous as it warms up. Refreshing aroma; quite like it now.

Taste is a bit of a letdown. Starts kind of tangy with some acetyldehyde and other ale by-products. Sweetish grain midway with barley and a touch of popcorn, then quite a bready late-mid and finish, some piney hops on the back but not very assertive. Hey, it's drinkable, pretty plain but I shouldn't complain; it is what it is.

Bit sharp on the back, kind of sizzles itself dry. Bit meh.

Plain, drinkable. Good starter beer and could continue drinking it.

On-tap at Harts Pub in Sydney during Sydney Craft Beer week.

Pours a clear golden colour, quite a deep hue. Head is hazy and a little inconsistent, but it's fine and white at least. Lacing forms in majestic sheets but disintegrates patchily. Very light body, which is nothing less than what you want for the style. A little simple, perhaps, but perfectly suitable.

Nose is light and crisp, but quite mild. Some faint fruity hops giving a bit of fragrant uplift, and a hint of salty chlorine. Touch of fizz from the carbonation is noticeable. It's not bad.

Taste, again, is very light, but it's pleasantly refreshing. Slight woody hop character on the back, with the palate is rounded out with some slight fragrant citrus flavours and a light greenness. Finish is quite dry and light, and the feel is sparkling but very light bodied.

Very drinkable and refreshing. Does it really do enough to stand out in a crowded marketplace, though?

A: Super clear golden orange in colour. Pours with a dense head that falls quickly. Nice lacing.
S: Rich bready malt.
T: Really nice bready/biscuit with honey. Fresh 2 row malt. Some mild fruitiness. Just a little bitterness on the finish.
M: Nice crisp finish.
O: Don't really think this falls into the APA category but it's still a very nice beer. Flavor reminds me of Anchor Steam. This beer has really grown on me.

Poured a light golden colour and slightly cloudy. Head is white light and fluffy but disappears quickly. Nice amount of lacing.

Smell is fairly light. Some light citrus notes and refreshing melon. Some sweet caramel aromas as well.

Taste is as you would expect from the nose. Initial melon and citrus if rounded off with a more malty caramel.

A light body and medium carbonation mean that this is well suited to a session.

An easy drinking beer and a good example of the golden ale style.
