I usually like American Adjuncts for their clear taste and drinkability (way more than Euro Lagers) so I take as many chances as possible to try new ones out.
As it is in South-East Asia, American Adjuncts suit tropical climates very well ice cold. So it is in the Caribbean and Red Stripe is their representative, so I wanted to try another beer from there. This Carib Lager looks a bit more pale than the rest Adjuncts and starts with a lighter taste. The first impression is good but then somehow it turns into a bit bitter, bit awful aftertaste. One feels that something is missing and the bitterness is somehow artificial, as if it was meant to cover up for the lacking taste. Once it warms up a bit, this aftertaste stands out more but you are supposed to drink these lagers ice cold.
It is a bit on the B- side but not THAT bad after all - still better than Coors Light!

In st Maarten. Better than corona no doubt. But not a very good beer. It's difficult to bifurcate the beer from the experience. When you're sitting on a beach in the middle of the Caribbean staring at the green waters and sipping on beer It's impossible to not enjoy the moment. But the if you take the beer just for what it's worth. Meh.

This is the Corona of the West Indies, clear yellow with a grassy herbal taste, sweet malts in the finish, nicely carbonated highly drinkable, it hits the spot if you are in the right setting.

Deep straw (3) pour with thick tight white foam; decent cap retention; spotty lace at best; excellent clarity. Biscuits and sugar aroma. Biscuits and semi sweet malt and not much else. Light plus body, medium carbonation with a little creamyness in the feel. Better than most island lagers as this one is thirst quenching with a little malt body.

Drunk cold straight out of 330ml clear bottle. Glucose syrup is listed on the ingredients. Mmm.

L) Clear, slightly weird lime-yellow colour.

S) The instant I opened it was a wave of skunk. When that dissipated, just typical lagery malt.

T) Slightly raisiny-malt lead flavour. Little hops or bitterness, or any sweetness which is a relief considering the ingredients.

F) Not very fizzy, not very refreshing, there is a bit of a drying effect. No aftertastes.

O) Very middling lager, not horrible, but there are better options in this category, for example Corona. Only bought it to tick off having a beer from Trinidad!
