Notes / Commercial Description:
Boris pours black and opaque like a moonless sky over Siberia. Eight different malts bring a complex aroma and flavor of chocolate, coffee and roasty sweetness. Just in case the winter gets too cold, we brewed this giant spider to 10% abv. So grab your snifter and ushanka and enjoy.

Bought a growler at A&R beverage
Pours black as black can be with a thin brown head. Smell is a little liquorice and roasted malt. Taste is all malt at first with a bit of hops and a subtle hint of alcohol at the end. Mouthfeel is excellent, oily, viscous, super smooth. An excellent representation of the style

Overall, this is a nice example of a RIS. I used to think that cans were better suited for New England IPA'S BUT being my first experience with a Imperial Stout in a can, I'm a believer. Anyone who rated this less than a 3.9 didn't let it warm up to room temperature. That's where the Chocolate and Coffee flavors really shine. Happy with this purchase and would definitely buy again. 10% ABV makes it wonderful for a night of football. Thanks Spider Bite. Going to look into their IPA next

Picked up a small growler fill of this earlier today with the Oaked Boris the Spider for a side-by-side introduction to this beer. both brews poured into oversized SH snifters.

a - poured as black as the soulless lump of coal that i get every year for christmas. thin tan head that was gone quick. for those into the brevity thing, the beer is black.

s - surprising fruity roasted malts. there is a strong licorice sweetness that is very pronounced giving it a dark fruit vibe. some burnt freshness and nutiness. quite nice.

t - really big and bold roasted chocolate. decadent. aftertaste is bready and a bit bitter. very impressive and tasty. bold and fresh. ROASTY.

m - mouth is cooling. body is medium to full. nice carbonation.

o - overall...paint me impressed. a very drinkable and solid RIS from the locals! i'm very excited to see more from this brewery and am psyched to have discovered the oaked version as well. homer factor aside, this is an excellent beer and possibly one of, if not the best beer i've tried from the various new breweries popping up locally on LI. kudos and nice job.

*** ** * ** *** edit 3/12/2013 Bottle - every word rings true on the bottle...it is as good if not better than on draft. fantastic beer!
