Pours a dark black with a small brown head and lots of floaties (would be a 4 in look but the floaties are a turn off). Smells of coffee, roasted malts, and dark chocolate. Tastes strongly of dark coffee, lots of dark chocolate, and roasted malts. Medium in body and carbonation. Overall it's a great local stout that really emphasizes coffee and chocolate.

The appearance was a dark black color. one finger off white foamy head that quickly dies and leaves no lacing. The smell had a mainly dark roasty chocolate, and I don’t know why but I get a rubbery sort of aroma - weird and as far as I knowits not necessarily unpleasant, its just different. The taste was a roasty sweet chocolate, still getting the rubber in the taste as well, leaves the same aftertaste and has a super sweet sticky finish. On the palate, it sat about a medium on the body, tries to show a sessionable aspect but maintains a somewhat heavier effect to make me try to sip it. Overall, I say this is a pretty good stout.

Black, a tiny ruby bulb up to the light. A good finger of tan foamy head, that slowly fades and sticks to the glass. Lots of floaties in this one. The aroma is lots of roasted malt, chocolate, minor coffee, and a little brown sugar; smells sweet overall. In the flavor, nice balance of sweet and bitter, both are there. Quite a bit of smoke in the flavor, along with the chocolate and some java notes. Also a bit of a char flavor. I kind of like that; some, don't. Feel is medium body, and very dry on the finish. Up front, it's slightly sticky and good carbonation. I think this is a stand out in that, it is just a bit different enough from the usual stout of this abv with that smokiness. Better than an 81, for sure, to me.

It is a nice dark brown in color with a golden head. Smells of chocolate and coco powder. Has a very smooth chocolate and licorice flavor with a clean finish. Very nice stout cold and easy to drink on hot day. Loved the coffee and chocolate flavors that arrived on the finish. Excellent beer!

Pours a dark brown with a thin tan head. Aromas of cocoa. Taste begins with some milk chocolate, then some toasted grain, a hint of licorice, and finishing with a nutty, earth flavour. Mouthfeel is decent. Overall a decent stout.

Look (3.75): Dark charcoal with a small head which quickly disappears. A brown reddish hue around the edges. Carbonation doesn't seem to cling to well.

Smell (3): Hardly anything there. Mild bitter chocolate and coffee aroma. I was hoping for more.

Taste (3.5): Roasted chocolate and coffee flavors, which are a bit stronger in the taste, but not big in smell. There's some spicy pepper notes perhaps on the back end.

Mouthfeel (3.75): Light plus to medium bodied. Surprisingly easy to drink. Nothing overwhelming too it, and I would not expect this to have 6.5 ABV.

Overall (3.25): Disappointing.

For a stout from Arizona it's really nice. Plus at the gimmicky 6.66% abv I can't complain. Wish it was more available in the souther part of the state.

Thanks Shelly.
This was poured into a nonic pint glass.
The appearance was a dark brown close to black color with a slim white to off white cap of a head that quickly dissipated without any lacing.
The smell had a ton of coffee beans - big and roasty. Light vanilla.
The taste was mainly roasty through the coffee beans. Vanilla comes back to sweeten slightly with a subtle balance. Sweet aftertaste with some cocoa. Barely any finish.
The mouthfeel was about a light to medium in body with a decent sessionable feel about it. Carbonation runs light. Gets a bit sticky almost cloying.
Overall, well, not one of the best American Stouts on the market as it seems there could be tweakings that could help make it better, still not a bad offering.

Had this at the North Rim of the Grand Canyon, so maybe that skewed my rating, thought this was very solid roasty stout with chocolate components.
