This is an American style Belgian IPA, with a subtle phenolic flavor in combination with citrusy/piney hops, well balanced at 6.2% and 55 IBUs, with a tart, dry finish.

Pours a clear deep gold producing almost 2 fingers of frothy, white somewhat lasting head that leaves scattered blotches & motes of lace. Aroma is earthy & slightly musty, floral, orange & lemon (more pith or zest than fruit with a greater degree of fruit for the orange) pineapple & pine, a low profile caramel & biscuit maltiness with something vaguely mint-like deeply buried underneath. Taste is divergent from the nose & less complex: Moderate hop bitterness with some citrus & grass, lightly floral with a subdued earthiness. Pale malts evident but almost no wheat flavor or Belgian yeast mustiness. Some soft breadiness. Mouthfeel is light-medium bodied (maybe a little oily & chewy from the oats) with moderate carbonation that combine with the hops to produce a slight prickly spiciness.

Pretty decent White IPA with balanced hop bitterness and a good wheat character. Drank it out the bottle so I didn't get a look at it. It was good but I think I would prefer the Hop Hash or their other IPA's.

Served in an Ohio State shaker pint glass.

Moved onto the MST3K version of "The Brain That Wouldn't die". Good times. This stuff pours a clear brass topped by a finger of dirty white foam. The nose comprises powdered sugar, light lemon rind, coriander, and mild oats. The taste holds notes of dark greens, light black pepper, and orange peel. The body is a light medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a liquid feel. Overall, a very meh w"white IPA", a style whose continued existence continues to perplex me, considering I've yet to have a really good example. Oh well...

First had poured from 12-oz. bottle, stamped best by "03/24/2016," into snifter. According to the bottle, Belgian style ale rear-ended by a truckload of American hops. Yep.

This beer is bottle conditioned. Enjoy by 2/28/16. 12oz bottle poured into a tulip. Pours golden with a fluffy white head that slowly falls leaving great retention and sticky lacing. Looks really good. The aromas have tons of fresh grass. Subtle yeast notes with hints of banana and citrus. The flavors are very earthy. More fresh grass. Nice solid hop bitterness. Hints of lemon and lime zest. Hints of pine. Alcohol goes unnoticed. The mouthfeel is nice. It's light with very active carbonation. It's prickly and smooth. Very easy to drink.

This might not be my personal favorite Beligian/White IPA, but it's well crafted. It's very sharp, crisp, clean and refreshing.

Lush, clear orange color is topped with a frothy white head after a hard pour. Aroma is crackers light pine and peppery hops with a tilt to the Belgian side with the yeast spicyness and esters. Taste is smooth not overly bitter hop profile with light spice, herbal and piney with a good foundation of toasted malt and stoned wheat crackers. Flavored all work good together to make an easy drinker that is good with most American cuisine.

Sweetwater seems to have a bunch of mainstream brews that are pretty simple and conformist. These may have been more "out there" a decade ago, but in today's American brewing landscape, they are mundane.

This one looks great in the glass. Great little bubbles, and great color. The smell is weak, but correct for the style and inoffensive. The taste is slightly sharp, slightly bitter, very slightly yeasty. It has a lot going on.

Although this is a well made brew of decent quality, it did not wow me and it doesn't seem a great representation of the style. You can do a lot better.

Pretty damn good, not much more special compared to their 420 or Hop Hash brews, very comparable to them. Great re-drinkable beer, but nothing spectacular. Reminds me very much of there other 2 brews mentioned. I still love sweetwater though!

copper. only like half a finger head, which was totally fine with me. nice lacing.

it smells kind of malty imo. a bit of peach or mango. not super impressive in this area.

excellent!! lots of citrus, grapefruit, tangerine. a little peach comes in too imo. not too bitter. an excellent "starter" IPA if you're trying to show your friends that not all IPAs are super bitter.
crisp. this beer is somehow mouthwatering and dry at the same time. medium carbonation.

I enjoy this seasonal IPA offering from Sweetwater more than I enjoy their regular IPA. I think more citrus comes through in this beer than their regular IPA. Good "starter" IPA because it's not super bitter, but at the same time, seasoned IPA drinkers will enjoy this.

I enjoyed this bottle chilled ina glass

The color is golden with slight hazed appearance and very thick white head with 3 fingers of foam and lace that sticks. The smell has a sweet orange peel aroma with wheat in the malt adding a sweet odor with slight nutty accent and mild yeast ester with subtle lemony smell. The feel is good with medium body and moderately high bitterness with light sweetness and moderate carbonation with slight yeast texture adding to the body with very dry finish with some spice in the feel.

The taste is a good hybrid of a wit and IPA with tangy and fruity combination of yeast with citrus flavor both of orange rind and hops with a slight yeast phenol and mild dry quality as the herbal flavor of the hops comes in late in the taste wtih a fruity mix of yeast and mild citrus tangy with light spice and toast as it finishes on the dry side with low alcohol in the taste and lingering hop bitterness. Overall a pretty decent take on the style with decent citrus synergy of peel and hops with a good amount of balance from the wheat and wit yeast. i would try this again if I saw it on tap.

12 oz bottle poured into a shaker pint.

Pale blonde with 1 finger of white head. Excellent clarity with light carbonation.

Mango, dank, lemon, and candy sugar.

Smooth wheat malts with notes of banana, honey, and candied lemon. Light mango and papaya with some dankness. Finishes with some resin and residual sugars.

Medium bodied, crisp, silky, and juicy with a medium-light bitterness.

A nice mellow beer with a smooth hop profile.

Sweetwater is a great brewery and yet you don’t see them very often or in enough variety. I was glad to see this 6.2% ABV white IPA so I picked up a six pack and chilled it. Then I poured it into a tulip glass.

Look-It pours a relatively clear golden color with some carbonation trails floating to the top. The head is foamy with big bubbles and is white. The lacing is delicate and drooping.

Smell-It smells pleasantly of citrus hops. I also smell a tinge of floral hops.

Taste-The taste is brilliant. I clean expression of a variety of citrus based hops such as clementine, orange, tangerine, grapefruit rind, lingering acidity, and then a smooth malt backbone. Like a note floating high above the citrus chorus, a tinge of floral essences are expressed nicely.

Mouthfeel-The mouthfeel is smooth and fizzy and is on the lighter side of medium-bodied. There are plenty of hop oils that coat the tongue and linger in between sips.

Overall-This is a refreshing brew that is best served chilled. Another tasty beer by Sweetwater.

Poured into an IPA glass. Dark amber hazy color with a fluffy bright white head that lingered. Tropical and fruity aromas with some Belgian yeast and bread. Taste was complex: primarily citrusy hoppy flavor with some estery Belgian notes and a good malt backbone. Dry finish. I don't like this style in general, but this seems to be a better representation than others I've tried.

A: This poured a clear gold with some white head.
S: It smelled like nice citrus and pine hops, with a little earthy malt.
T: It tasted like pine and unripe apricot, with some citrus zest and earthy malt. It had a clean bitter aftertaste.
M: It was oily with some carbonation. Nice and smooth body.
D: This was a nice IPA, not exactly sure what makes it white. The scent and taste were decent, and the body was nice. The finish was smooth, so it was easy to drink. Nothing special, but still enjoyable.

This is one Heck of a hybrid ale. Wit grain bill, strong ale yeast, American IPA hopping. Sizeable head, good lace, wispy covering. Cloudy orange gold. Nose is lively with wheat twang, light pils breadiness, tropical fruit hops. Taste is an amalgam and it works out beautifully. Light malty body that seems to be overwhelmed by the huge hop content but the yeast and mellower hop artifacts bring a balance to the finish that makes this highly quaffable and refreshing. Feel is smooth with a mild carbonation that brings a gentle dubbing of the mouth. I like this stuff. It's hard to define out pigeonhole bit it's good.

A: Pours a clear medium yellow in color with moderate amounts of active visible carbonation rising from the bottom of the glass and some faint golden yellow + lemon yellow highlights. The beer has a half finger tall foamy white head that slowly reduces to a medium to large patch of thin film and a medium thick ring at the edges of the glass. Light to moderate amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Moderate aromas of citrus/grapefruit pith, floral, and pine hops over the top of very light aromas of grainy + wheat malts.

T: Upfront there is a light flavor of grainy, pale, and wheat malts with a touch of subtle sweetness. That is followed by moderate flavors of citrus/grapefruit pith, floral, and pine hops which impart a light to moderate amount of lingering bitterness.

M: Light bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation.

O: Easy to drink and enjoyable - a nice white IPA with the touches of wheat as well as the moderate hop presence. Definitely worth grabbing and better than I expected.

decent but nothing real special here. i dont get the white part really, at least not as much as others in the style. its only a little cloudy and wheaty, still more of a regular ipa to me in grain composition and flavor, although there is a slight hint of belgian yeast fruitiness to this that may take it there, but its so subtle as to be an accent. the hops are also a little mild for what i like an in ipa, and would call this more in the session family, except its over 6% abv, so it doesnt really fit there either. i need to assess this just as a beer, not how well it fits into a style, especially one as poorly defined as a white ipa. its clean drinking, no yeast or grain weight to this slowing it down, and carbonation is high, all of which i like, but i am looking for more hops in this, and for a sturdiness that matches its alcohol content.

Pours a cloudy orange color with a 1 inch white head that dissipates slowly leaving a good bit of lacing down a goblet glass.

Smell is really good. I get a lot of Christmas tree pine hops with a hint of wheat in the background.

Taste follows the nose with a really good amount of the pine hops up front with wheat malts coming in on the end.

Mouthfeel is light to medium with a good amount of carbonation to give it a kick.

Overall, a good beer. It gives you the taste of an IPA with the look of a witbeir. A nice combo in my opinion.

Sweetwater Whiplash White IPA has a thin, white head, a clear, bubbly, orange appearance, an enormous amount of white sediment spiraling about, and moderate lacing left on the glass. The aroma is of the sweet, pine resin, light grapefruit type thing, and the flavor is of white bread, hop resin, rather low bitterness, sweetness, and grapefruit. The key word, here, is "citrus fruit". Mouthfeel is light to medium and prickly, and Sweetwater Whiplash White IPA finishes semi-dry and easy drinking.
