Served on tap in a pint glass
Appearance – The beer is served a clear golden color with a tiny fizzy white head. The head fades very fast, leaving a touch of lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma is a nice mix of a blueberry aroma mixed with some smells of a grainy and bready smell. The blueberry is somewhat artificial in nature, but very enticing none the less. Along with these smells, comes a touch of hay and toast, producing a nice, blueberry muffin mix like aroma overall.
Taste – The taste begins with a mix of a crackery and bready malt taste that is mixed with a blueberry and caramel sweetness. As the taste advances the blueberry gets slightly stronger while the caramel fades a bit. At the same time a light level of hay and herb as well as a touch of grass comes to the tongue, leaving one with a crisp blueberry lager like taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is light and crisp with a carbonation level that is rather high. For the mix of blueberry fruit and crisp lager flavors the feel is great and makes for a nice refreshing brew.
Overall – For a fruit brew, this this blueberry ale does a nice job, keeping it refreshing, flavorful, but not overwhelming. Overall crisp and easy drinking.

Pours a somewhat cloudy dark yellow with a 1/2 inch white head with good retention. Smells of wheat, blueberry, grapes, & citrus. Taste follows the nose, very interesting. Light bodied, crisp, high carbonation.

12 oz can, best by 11/9/20, into Ellipsis Trophy glass.

Pours a foggy gold color with a fingernail of head. It recedes to zero head and effervescent bubbles pooling on top.

Aroma is clean - lots of sweet clean grain, a hint of floral hop, and hints of Blueberry Pop Tart.

Flavor has the unmistakable character of flavored malt liquor. Ethanol-laced, slightly artificial; like Colt 45 with a squirt of Mio. There is also palatable hop spoilage now after the fifth sip. It builds more and more throughout the profile (To be fair it is a couple weeks past its best by date). It leans very malt liquor-ish.

Feel is very crispy, full of carbonation, and leaves a starchy finish.

Overall, Sweetwater to me is one of the better "macro micro" breweries (DFH, Cigar City, Goose Island, Founders, etc) and most of their products I can handle pretty well. This is not one of them. I don't hate it but it isn't something I'm apt to return to. It's essentially a wheat malt liquor with blueberry flavoring.

Price paid : $1.49 / can
Would buy again : no

A quintessential Blueberry wheat beer from one of the best breweries in GA. I may be over-selling it and in some ways, it has a lot to do with the title 'wheat' beer on the can. Though it is labeled as a fruit and field beer because of the use of blueberries, I get a bit of wheat flavor but the filtered nature of this beer which makes me think its more of a lager than truly a wheat forward product.

The original smell is candied Maine blueberries - the kind you'd taste when biting into a blueberry waffle - so you'll get an aroma of sweetness from the initial smell. As I mentioned before the nearly-clear nature of this beer tells me it is overly filtered or that it uses a low balance of wheat, and a lot of 2-row malts, perhaps a caramel blend? There maybe caramel coloring added if not and for that reason, I had to knock the 'look' back for this beer - something seems off to me.

The head is a quickly dissipating 2 finger light white medium size bubble variety that leaves no lacing when dissipated.

As for the most important part - the light mouthfeel sweetness generates an overwhelming amount of sweetness up-front from the blueberries, the mids are wheat but that sweetness is still there, and in the rears, you get a lot more of the wheat finish with nearly no hops.

This goes well with smoked meats. Trust and believe this an excellent brunch beer.

12 oz can with enjoy date, not brewed date 12/17/19 (oh well).
Cloudy, pale, straw yellow body briefly supports a 1/2in head of white mixed bubbles and leaves a clean glass behind.

Aromas of fresh blueberry and citrus are clear and flow nicely into the taste.

Mouthfeel is light, crisp, and lightly drying.

Overall this has to be a pretty good beer when fresh and part of that is my fault for buying after the best by date, but I thought it was a brewed on date. Thank you for including a date, however "BIEB" date is insufficient to clarify. I still think the look is less than ideal, and has little to do with the date. The rest is as I would expect for the style: nothing groundbreaking.

Pours an almost clear golden color with good carbonation and minimal head. Scent is fruity and grassy. Taste is fruity like a berry with some wheaty grass. Light mouthfeel and mostly sweet aftertaste that fades to wheat. I will have to revisit this one, it feels like a poundage good time

12 oz. can , best by 10/17/19, into shaker pint glass
Yellow gold body gets a nice airy head that fades off to light film...
Delicious blueberry pie aroma and light beer...LOVE IT
Taste is , a really good light beer with just enough berry in there for a fun, light, session crusher, or dessert/appetizer.
Having this for the first beer of a great summer afternoon sesh is a great help of course, and recommended.
Overall a good example of not going too far with the fruit. An eye opener for me., but the release of Frenchy's Blues by Terrapin got me interested in trying the Sweetwater Blue. Accept gladly, enjoy many, and repeat as desired.

Poured from a 12 oz can into a Dogfish head tulip

L: Clear light golden pour with 2 fingers of fluffy white head. Reasonable lacing.

S: Light blueberry and wheat/grain.

T.F: Follows the nose. Wheat beer backbone... some grain/malt character. Mild sweetness... lightly blueberried... not fake at least. Pretty 1-dimensional. Light and crisp.

O: An easy drinking blueberry wheat styled brew. Super low ABV makes it great for a session... nothing offensive here and the blueberry is tastefully done. Not a favorite style, but one I'd have it again.

I was hesitant to try this beer out. I'm not much for blueberry but this turned out to be pretty good. The smell of blueberries was much more potent than the flavor. I wouldn't mind having a few more of these.

A really refreshing, nice beer. The taste brings notes of blueberry, finished with wheat and malt. It's got a great smell to it too, and while there's little to no lacing the body is very full. The look isn't as great as expected but this is still highly recommended.

The slightly hazy pale yellow beer is served in a Shaker Pint glass with a 1/4" white head that visibly recedes to leava a small ring around the glass with no lacing. At first sipping creates small spots of lacing that slide backdown to the liquid but by the middle of the glass there's almost nothing.

The aromas include some noticeable blueberry with a bit of the wheat and malt in the background.

The flavors are much as expected from the nose with the blueberry up front, backed up by the grains. There's a just noticeable bit of sweetness from the malt and no sign of hops.

The mouthfeel is light bodied and slightly creamy with the moderate, persistent carbonation. The finish begins as all the flavors fade pretty much together, leaving just a final hint of blueberry to close the show.

A nicely drinkable beer that seems well designed for summer drinking. It's light, slightly fruity and goes down easily. Seems well suited for a party on the porch on a pleasant summer evening.

The appearance was a slightly clear golden colored body with a half finger white foamy head that quickly dissipates and leaves a slight lacing around the sides of the glass. The smell has strong notes of blueberry up front, slight wheaty/bready background. The taste is pretty much the same, a combined blueberrywheat aftertaste, sticky sweet finish. The palate is light, sessionable, carbonation is good for a blueberry beer and is good for me. Overall, this is a good session blueberry beer.

Good refreshing beer.

Looks like a clear brown ale

Smells like blueberry pancakes or muffins

Tastes nothing like blueberry especially for having such a strong smell. Semi sweet bread taste so they go together well.

Feel is really carbonated. Very overpowering.

Overall a good beer but only something to enjoy sparatically.

Wheat beer infused with blueberries. Aroma reminds me of blueberry pancakes. Don’t get any flavor of it, though, which is weird. You think if you smell it you’d taste it as well. Structured like normal wheat beer.

This was an OK wheat beer. The blueberries did come through, but were not particularly magical for me.

A golden color. Lots of suspended particles. Little to no head.
Nice blueberry smell followed by wheat funk reminiscent of a a fresh hair perm.
Not as much blueberry in the taste, but some pleasant wheat funk and maltiness.
Fairly light body with some residual sweetness.

Nice light gold color with white cap.

Pleasant aroma of light grain and a noticeable blueberry scent. Very clean fruit scent that doesn't smell artificial.

Taste is of a moderately rich wheat brew that has surprisingly little blueberry flavor. I say surprising because that featured more strongly in the scent. Mild sweet grain on entry quickly followed by some, and I mean little, blueberry flavor that along with some hops build toward the finish. Blueberry is the most prominent flavor in the aftertaste while hops vacate the premises. One would expect sweetness considering the motif but this one is actually dry.

Light medium texture with balancing carbonation.

A very acceptable Summer style brew that offers little resistance to palates challenged by hops.

The beer comes in a pale gold color.

The aroma offers sweet blueberry, grains, sugary sweetness, a biscuity malt.

The flavor hits of blueberry candy up front, but flies away quite quickly. Hints of honey, biscuity malt, onto a light hop bitterness. The beer is generally quite watery with light blueberry flavors up front.

Gold in color with a light haze from tiny suspended sediment. There's a fingernail of dull white around part of the top and half of the middle. The aroma is faint blueberries and nothing else. The flavor is actually fairly restrained in terms of blueberry intensity. I can actually pick out pale wheat in the mix and I find that appealing. The mouth is moderately carbonated and dry.

I had this beer once in the summer and can't remember if it was any good, so I'm trying it again.

SweetWater Blue Wheat Ale

This beer has a great appearance to it. Slightly hazy with a golden tint. Noticeable carbonation. Great head, reduces while drinking. Very little lacing left behind.

The smell is a great quality this beer has. Smells like tart blueberries. Almost too much because the taste isn't very apparent.

Almost not able to classify as a fruit beer as the taste of blueberries is very subtle in this brew. Very drinkable wheat beer with a touch of the smell you get.

I really enjoy the feel of this beer. Very drinkable, perfect amount of carbonation.

Overall, the taste could be improved to be a great beer. For me, it's good. Definitely something I'll buy next summer instead of macrobrews I had this year.
