Beer lovers who enjoyed summer’s Goin’ Coastal IPA with pineapple will be delighted by Squeeze Box’s similarities in style and drinkability, but with the seasonally appropriate update of grapefruit.

Poured from a bottle into a pint glass. Pours orange red with a fluffy white head. Smells of citrus hops. Tastes of citrus hops with very slight grain backbone, with just a bit of tang. Beer is light bodied and slightly overcarbonated, but still easy drinking. Overall, a very good beer.

I am really starting to see progress in the eradication of The Bottle Backlog here at Chez Woody, plus as an unexpected bonus, I am able to do a number of brewery horizontals, some more extensive than others. This beer marks the continuation of one such occasion with this being the last for the time being.

From the bottle: "Catch & Release Seasonal"; "Bottle Conditioned for Fresher Taste"; "Slice open citrus heaven with this grapefruit laced IPA. Bright and crisp with five tropical hop additions and dosed with a shot of grapefruit, it's a refreshing new squeeze."; "Slice One Open!".

I am slowly coming to the realization that most, if not all, of their beers are bottle-conditioned. It is both fine by me & not a problem, since I have embraced the idea of a slow, gentle pour following the Pop! of the cap. I did just that on this occasion, followed by an in-glass swirl which created two-plus fingers of dense, foamy, rocky, eggshell-white head that slowly fell, leaving sticky lacing in its wake. Color was an oh-so-slightly-hazy Golden-Amber (SRM = > 5, < 7). Nose was like grapefruit-squared. That is, citrusy grapefruit hops with grapefruit juice on top. Phew! You had best dig grapefruit going into this one. I know that I do. Mouthfeel was medium-to-full, not quite creamy, but certainly noticeably bigger than the two previous beers. Taste followed the nose with a grapefruit citrusiness that simply would not quit. As I said, I like grapefruit AIPAs, but this is not going to be everyone's bag. Finish was dry, tart, citrusy, very much of grapefruit and with a lingering taste just to remind me. Phew! More like this one, please!

A: Burnt orange color, thick off white head, great lacing

S: Grapefruit, pine floral hops

T: I get that grapefruit right upfront, the malty caramely sweet malts come in next, then the piney floral hops

M: Medium

O: A really good IPA with nice hoppy presence. The grapefruit gives it a nice flavor that mixes well with the carmely malts.

Good grapefruit-added IPA. Pours a very slightly hazy dark gold color. Big foamy white head with better than average retention. Thick bands of lacing on the glass. A good looking beer. Aroma and flavor feature grapefruit but it is not overdone. The overall bitterness is good and there is enough malt for balance. Mouthfeel is rich enough for thestyle, good level of bitterness and some balance. Grapefruit-added IPAs are a bit one-dimensional but this one is well done and tasty!!!

First had poured from 12-oz. bottle, stamped best if enjoyed by "02/23/2017," into tulip. Surprisingly subtle, malty and balanced. Probably the best of these added grapefruit juice beers I've had.

-spiegelau ipa glass. slice one open. 1.29.17 consumed 1.29.17.

A: Hazy, dull orange in the vessel, has a big display of effervesce. One inch standing spongey textured head is seashell white in color and well standing thereafter.

S: Fresh pink grapefruit first on the nose, wet and juicy, some sugary notes, with a decent level of execution. Soft fresh lemon peel is slighly dry and soft, bittering adding balance along with some citrus and a light flowery hop leave. Some lightly dried and sweet toasted grains finish things off here.

T: Flavor was toasted grain and grapefruit, flowery citrus hops with some light lemon peel. Increasing flowery citrus hops move in upon the swallow, soft and dry adding some balance to initial malt and sugary grapefruit sweetness with a light toasted malt touch.

M: Light to medium mouthful by weight, average carbonation factor, more of a light summer time feel.

O: A nice splash of grapefruit, against a soft, toasty backing good for poolside refreshment when you want something tart, light, and thirst quenching without being weighed down. Not as much a hopbomb, as a grapefruit complimented alcohol beverage, light and refreshing when the time calls for.
