Pours a pale orange Amber with a cream colored head.

Tropical fruit, floral bouquet, herb, slight bread malt, and citrus in the nose.

Bitter herb an$ citrus followed by an array of tropical fruit- mango, star fruit, peach, pineapple giving way to quick hit of bread malt.

Poured into a grip shaped goblet: color is straw, light haze, head is brighter white, some lacing and lingering thin top.

Smell starts with light juicy, fruity hops, subtle tropical notes, minimal malt notes. Its pleasant but not that enticing.

Taste is a bit thin, the tropical notes subdue with warmth and through the taste; malt is limited, bitterness creeps in after drinking.

Mouthfeel is more bitter than apas of this strength and stronger than some ipas about 1% abv above this, getting better with warmth.

Overall a subdued tropical style ipa with moderate bitterness.

Overall, I would have to say that this Brew is Bland. It is not bad, just Bland it looks beautiful in a glass, a nice light yellow color with a 1/2 inch of nice white head that stayed on the glass until I was done with the beer. But it had an aroma that left me thinking "bland". It has a little hoppy pine and a little fruity smell to it but I was expecting more. Sweetwater beers are usually full of great aromas. The taste was okay, with the same flavors but bolder....with a touch of hearty biscuit. It finished extremely well, coating my palate and providing a nice, moderately-swampy feel (in a good way) that was well-balanced. Overall, a good beer but Sweetwater has better.

Appearance: Pours a clear, light yellow-hued body with a fairly tall, near white head. A meager spray of lacing.

Smell: Decently fruity with a tropical tone to it atop a light, lightly bready base maltiness and a thin strand of resiny pine.

Taste: Lightly bready, crackery malts with some flashes of upfront, initial sweetness. Tropical, resiny and citrusy with tastes of berries, tangerine, pineapple and papaya with a tiny hint of garlic. Medium bitterness. It's initial bright fruitiness quickly recedes, leaving things just a wee bit washed out for the crispish finish.

Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation.

Overall: An ample IPA with some session leanings.

SweetWater definitely puts out some interesting IPAs, like this one...

I've had many a juicy IPA, but this one might very well take the cake. From the fruity smell to the juicy taste of pineapple and oranges, this really was one of those IPAs I would have liked to have tried during the dog-days of the Florida summer. Alas, I picked up this variety pack just recently - in December - and it's now that I'm getting to this latest IPA on my long list of tries. Not the best of IPAs I've had to date but definitely one of the better ones I am certainly going to be fond of (and will enjoy as I still have several few to go through.)

L - 3-finger frothy white head atop a near-transparent yellow body.

S - tropical fruits, biscuit.

T - follows the nose. Orange, mango, passionfruit, pineapple. Smooth middle. Low bitteeness. Moderate-low sweetness. No booziness.

F - medium-light body with high carb.

O - tastes and smells quite good, but lacking in character. Everything is rather muted.

Pours a hazy gold color. 2/3 inch head of a white color. Good retention and great lacing. Smells of sweet malt, tea, citrus hops, hint of vanilla, and a hint of piney hops. Fits the style of an American IPA. Mouth feel is smooth and clean, with an average carbonation level. There is also a noticeable hop bitterness. Tastes of sweet malt, tea, citrus hops, hint of vanilla, and a hint of piney hops. Overall, good appearance, feel, and blend, with a simple but tasty body.

From the bottle, it pours a lightly hazy golden color with a lustrous thick head that leaves lacing as you enjoy it - even on an out of date bottle like the one I am enjoying! Pleasant scent of citrus in the nose. The mouth gets a solid malt with light taste of citrus. Nice!

pours a misty, amber gold with a medium head that poofs. nose; dinner roll & citrus hops - orange, pineapple, & mango. taste; cracker malt, citrus pith (orange/bravo hops), strong mosaic hops, pineapple, & mango. pineapple & underipe mango hang out on the aftertaste along with some very slight oxidation. medium carbonation & light mouthfeel. one of the better sweetwater drinks i've had - this should be a staple for them.

12oz can with a best by date of 12-16-18
1" sudsy white head with good retention. Sticks at 1/2" for a long while. Golden, pale yellow with some chill haze. Nice foamy lacing.
Oranges, orange peel, orange blossoms. Guava on the tropical side...ripe guava.
Sweet malt base with a good dose of tropical fruit on top. Citrus as well, orange peel rind.
Medium to just south of being full body, medium carbonation. Flash of hop bitterness and then falls off. Quick, and fairly dry finish.
Very good not great... purchased as part of a variety 12pk with 5 types of SweetWater.

This is about as close to perfect as beers get (for me at least). If you like SUPER HOPPY/CITRUS-Y beers, this is the one for you! Smells amazing, tastes amazing. I tell all my friends about it. Great beer!

A good but not exciting beer.

Poured from a can into a tulip glass. Cloudy yellow color with a nice foamy initial head and decent lacing. Pleasant tropical fruit smell and taste. Pineapple stands out. Good beer.

Without further ado & without any concern for my own safety & well-being, I bring you the final entry in New After Dark At Water, My Sweet (Week 705)! I spent the morning with Atwater B.C., but as the Summer of 2018 winds down, I am reluctant to get out of the water, however, I must as I have a teaching gig beginning tomorrow morning.

From the Bottle: "Bottle Conditioned for Fresher Taste"; "Catch & Release Seasonal"; "A tropical approach to the IPA style – TripleTail weaves juicy bodacious hops with notes of papaya, pineapple, and passionfruit into this lush hop-forward IPA, creating a mouthwatering vacation for your senses. At 5.5% ABV, you can lean back assured it will refresh from sun up to sun down."; "Chase one down!"

I'm not usually against chasing sweet tail, but it has been a long day & I actually have work tomorrow! Because of all of this, I Pop!ped the cap & gave it a slow, gentle pour into the awaiting glass. I did not need or want a mess at this point. I was elated when things turned out as hoped, so I gave it a vigorous in-glass swirl to raise two-plus fingers of dense, foamy, rocky, French Vanilla-colored head with good retention, leaving nice lacing in its wake. Color was Yellow-Gold (SRM = 4 - 5) with NE-quality clarity, summoning forth The Gelt Gang of Mammon, Midas & Croesus, all clamoring for a taste. Nose smelled like tropical fruit salad - mango, papaya, guava, passion fruit, but where were the hops?!? Where was the bitterness?!? Mouthfeel was big & full, once again creating an argument in favor of bottle conditioning. The taste, on the other hand, was an argument in favor of the return of bittering hops. Jeez-O, man, this was liquefied tropical fruit salad! It was enough to set off my hops jones right before bedtime! 8=( Hey, if you like this sort of thing, great, but it does not fit the style guidelines of an AIPA. Finish was in that nebulous zone between semi-sweet & semi-dry. I leave it to your discretion to decide.

Smells great, looks great. Easily sweetwaters best IMO. Starts spicy turns to tropical fruit ( as it smells ), finishes with a nice hop bite. Great summer ipa taste exactly as advertised.

Gotta love easy-going fruit forward, flavor rich IPAs. Bodacious! indeed.
a) Light golden hazed body supports 1 finger dense, dotting, lasting head.
s) Creamy fruit, marmalade, fruit salad on white saltines.
t) Follows creamy fruit salad on cracker base, leans from sweet fruit to balanced bittering finish. Fruitier than most.
f) Mid- weight, prickly carb.
o) In cans, this is a great go-to if you like session IPAs fruity.

This IPA looks great. Oddly, though, it has zero smell. The taste is solid, though. And it's a tasty IPA.

This IPA reminds of a heavy Stone IPA, whatever that may mean to you.

That said, I think this TripleTail ( a great name ) Tropical ( not required ) IPA will do well in the southeast.

Pale, slightly haze gold color, tall fine-grained khaki head
Pine resin and grassy hops, light grapefruit and peach underneath
Apricot, peach, grass, bread, orange peel, pineapple
Light carbonation, somewhat slick feeling
Decent beer, the flavor isn't as bold as the smell, but a good summer drink

Strong hoppy and flowery smell. Thin head that quickly dissipates. Light lacing. Hazy gold color. Spicy as it hits the tongue with immediate sweetness and fruity flavors followed by a pleasant hoppy finish. Light bodied with light creaminess. A great summer IPA!

Very slightly hazed yellow with a creamy head providing some lacing.

Citrus, grapefruit pungent aromas. No distinct other fruits, but full and fruity.

Yellow grapefruit, and again not distinct, but fruity and abundantly hoppy.

Fully, creamy, and balanced mouthfeel.

Sweetwater almost seems like the Sierra Nevada of the South. This mixed 12 with all but one IPA is solid.

Poured from a 12 oz can into a Dogfish Head tulip

L: Hazed golden pour with 2 fingers of foamy white head. Great retention and lacing.

S: Tropical juicy hops... light grains and floral notes.

T/F: Light malts/grains. Tropical hops and juice. Citrus, papaya, and pineapple. Moderate bitterness... light bodied with good carbonation. The finish is more sticky fruit.

O: A solid/above average citrusy IPA. Good flavor, easy drinking, and low enough ABV that you can have a few of them. Overall well crafted beer.

Triple Tail has a thick, slightly off-white head, a hazy, yellow appearance, with some bubbles, a few floating about yeast chunks, and minimal glass lacing. Aroma is of white bread and hop resins. The flavor is of the same, with moderate and mellow bitterness. Mouthfeel is light to low medium, and Triple Tail finishes on the dry side. I did not really pick up on any fruit flavor.

Hazy golden color with a creamy cap of 3 fingers, leaving lots of lace on the glass as it recedes.

Lots of bright tropical fruity notes - passion fruit, mango, guava, grapefruit, oranges. Slight pale and caramel malt behind that.

Besides some noticeable caramel malt, the profile is pretty clean with hints of stringy orange, pineapple, mango, stiff bread, and slight pine.

Feel is crisp and clean. Light lingering resins on the finish.

Overall a decent IPA! Pretty good, I can tell this will go south FAST though. It's a month old, and in two weeks it could be done for.

On tap in a nonic pint glass.

Hazy yellow color with a 1-plus F white cap. Nice lacing.

Mostly tropical fruits with some noticeable citrus, too.

The hop flavors blend; tropical fruits, a touch of pineapple, some citrus, lemon. Light biscuit-like malt.

Light and refreshing. Nice hop bite. Not sweet despite all the tropical. Dry hop finish.

Yet another tropical fruit IPA. This one tames the sugar and the pineapple so that no single fruit overpowers. I'd go again.
