A: Pours a medium golden apricot in color with moderate amounts of active visible carbonation rising quickly from the bottom of the glass and faint to moderate burnt orange + golden yellow colored highlights. The beer has a three finger tall dense sudsy foamy off-white head that slowly reduces to a large patch of medium thick film covering the entire surface of the beer and a medium thick ring at the edges of the glass. Slightly heavier than moderate amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Light to moderate aromas of cucumber, spicy/peppery saison yeast, floral hops, and pale malts.

T: Upfront there are moderate flavors of pale + wheat malts with just a hint of grainy sweetness. That is followed by slightly stronger than moderate flavors of spicy/peppery saison yeast and light to moderate flavors of cucumber. Finally there is a light flavor of floral hops which impart a light amount of bitterness which fades pretty quickly leaving a lingering spicy/peppery yeastiness.

M: Light to medium bodied with slightly heavier than moderate amounts of carbonation. Light amounts of dryness in the finish.

O: Pretty enjoyable for a cucumber beer (they can be real hit and miss in my opinion so I never know if I will enjoy one or they will be too intensely cucumber for me). Easy to drink and overall light in flavor with a little more presence of cucumber in the nose.

Pours an effevescent gold with a pinky of pearl white head. Above average head retention & lacing

S: Pear & cucumbers

T: Follows the nose, plus dryness up front. A litttle grassyness, more cucumber & dryness as this warms. Finishes with plenty of cucumber, a little grainyness & dryness

MF: Medium body, crisp carbonation

Drinks easy, I've had better cucumber beers though. I could take or leave it, refreshing enough

A method to my madness emerges with this beer. I finished up my Howling Henry's horizontal with their BOPA (Basil Onion Pale Ale) & followed that up with Wicked Weed's Coolcumber, which also incorporated basil. This beer, while not involving basil, continues the cucumber trend. After this, I will be moving on to the next horizontal as a part of The Bottle Backlog Eradication here at Chez Woody.

From the bottle: "Bottle Conditioned for Fresher Taste"; "Catch & Release Seasonal"; "A fresh and refreshing way to find that chill spot this summer. This cucumber flavored Belgian-style saison is light in body and laid back in spirit. Notes of fresh cucumber and lime flavors come through in this hazy golden summer crusher."

Being that it was both bottle-conditioned & a Saison, I agitated the beer in the bottle before Pop!ping the cap + I gave it a fairly heavy-handed pour. Something worked, since I at least got just under three fingers of dense, foamy, rocky, bone-white head with good retention. There really did not seem to be any particulate, flocculate or lees coming into suspension, though. As a result, color was solid Gold (SRM = 5), enticing The Gelt Gang of Mammon, Midas & Croesus to pay me a visit. There was gold in that thar glass! But it should have been at least hazy, if not downright cloudy. Nose was redolent of the scent of freshly-sliced cucumbers, underlain by the musky, outdoorsy smell imparted by Saison yeast. This promised to be quite interesting. Mouthfeel was medium. The taste was not as strong in terms of the cucumber as the nose had led me to expect, which was kind of disappointing since cucumber got top billing. Still, I could definitely taste cucumber along with the outdoorsy taste of a Saison. Finish was dry & I would expect no less, nor have it any other way. Not bad, but it could be tweaked upwards in terms of the cucumber, IMHO.

Poured from a brown 12 oz. bottle. Has a golden color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is of yeast, spices, hints of cucumber. Taste is cucumber, much stronger than in the aroma, spices, dry at the finish. Feels medium/light bodied in the mouth and overall is a unique beer, and not bad.

Poured from a 12 OZ bottle into a pint glass. The appearance is a pale yellow color with a small white head. The aroma is cucumbers, did i mention that I am not a cucumber fan? Oh well, onto the flavor. Awesome, it tastes like cucumbers. Not my favorite flavor choice. Maybe Brussel Sprouts will be next.

Appearance: Clean golden amber, with a nice frothy white head.

Aroma: Smooth, with spicy yeasts detectable pretty quickly.

Taste: Peppery, with a touch of bitterness. The cucumber seems really subtle in the mix here, but this is a solid and very drinkable saison that’s refreshing and inventive. No problems here.

Light yellow color with white cap and lace.

Aroma has a definite cucumber scent that's present without being intrusive. Other than that I get little more than a pleasant sense of floralness. This was so light I let the brew warm a bit a the cucumber becomes sharper and more focused. Remains pleasant.

Taste is of a mild brew that features the cucumber. Very dry and something like a cucumber flavored chamomile tea, if there is such a thing. A focused tartness yet remains dry through out and the aftertaste carries a mild malt flavor and slight bitterness which I presume is due to hops.

Light texture with balancing carbonation.

Overall it's sorta interesting. It's not a muddle or a mess, just a pleasant light brew with a refreshing clean taste.
