Every year, millions of tons of single-use plastic finds its way into streams, rivers and oceans — and the problem is only getting worse.
We’re teaming up with our fellow nature-lovers at Costa Sunglasses to mobilize a movement and help protect our watery world. Together we can #KickPlastic.
This Czech-style pils pops with herbal notes and tropical fruit aroma, balanced by malty, oceanic characters on the palate.

Poured from a 12 oz. can Has a rich golden color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is of malts, light sweetness, some herbal notes. Taste is malty, grassy, hops are present, highly refreshing. Feels medium/full bodied in the mouth and overall is an enjoyable beer.

Mild lager aroma with a touch of sweet malt, pours a clear golden with a thin white head. Light bodied, nice earthy hop bite in the finish. There's some mild sweetness to start it off, overall a nice drinking pils.

Poured into a narrow pilsner glass: color is gold, slight haze, head is off white with fine bubbles, head lingers well with some good lacing on the glass sides. Color is a bit dark and haze is just a bit much for style.
Smell is malt forward, pilsner like notes, then some grassy and fruity hop notes.
Taste is similar with pilsner malt flavor, then dominant hops notes of citrus rind with some floral and grassy notes.
Mouthfeel is crisp with moderate carbonation upfront, moderate sweetness and then some drying bitterness.
Overall this is a very drinkable lager though misses some of the style requirements to categorize as Czech pilsner.

SweetWater Brewing Co. "Costa Kick Plastic Pilsner"
12 fl. oz. can, coded "09/22/19 B1336"
$2 @ Wegmans, King of Prussia, PA
Notes via stream of consciousness: I'm all for the cause here, plastic is killing our oceans, and apparently it's building up in our own bodies as well. However I'm a little cautious about this other line from the label "This Czech-style pils pops with herbal notes and tropical fruit aroma, balanced by malty oceanic characters on the palate." Malty oceanic characters? What the hell is that? And what are tropical fruit aromas doing in a Czech-style Pilsener? OK, enough of that nonsense, let me pour it and see... a rough pour has brought up a massive almost 3" head which is good because it'll settle and I'll top it off and it should be densely creamy and hold really well. The body, unfortunately, is very hazy. Czech Pilseners are never hazy. It's golden in color with a little bit of orange in the center towards the top of the glass where it's widest. Well I didn't get a densely creamy head but it's pretty nice, and rocky looking on the top. The aroma isn't that strong but I do get orange out of it. I'm almost relieved, because you'd never find that in a Czech Pilsener either, and yet it's there. It is a little floral though, so at least there's that. On to the flavor... well I actually laughed out loud because this doesn't even taste like a Pilsener. There's Pilsner malt in it, sure, but the fruity hops come through clearly and it's nothing like what it's labeled as. It's a good beer, but it's not a "Czech-style pils". The malt is pleasant with that grainy and grassy Pils note, and it's nicely threaded through with fruity, floral, and mildly grassy hop notes. A firm bitterness balances it, and it finishes dry and just a touch earthy and spicy. The head has dropped by now and it's still got about a 75% solid surface covering, and the lacing is made up of several large, craggy rings. It could score at least a 4, and maybe a 4.25 on appearance except that it's hazy. In the mouth it's medium bodied and gently crisp. I hate to score this poorly because of the style designation, but what can I do? It would have been great simply labeled as a "lager" but that's not the route they took. I've gone easy on it and scored it a 3.72 but if I'd rated hedonistically it would definitely have got a 3.85, and maybe a 3.9 or better.

Have to give some credit here as just about every Czech style pilsener I've had made in the states is way off. This one at least gets into the parking lot of the ballpark, not bad at all, still.....not quiet there.

Nice non offensive pilsner, not much on the nose, doughy bread. Taste is a tad sweet, slight grassiness soft finish, would like less sweetness and a crisper finish. Otherwise not a bad drinker, this is like the 3rd mix pack I have gotten with this beer and usually the first ones gone

It's hard to review a beer like this, cuz it is not my style. It's clean and crisp and, as Pilsners go, tastes good. This brewer is a slightly above average producer in my experience, and this falls right into that description.
