22oz poured into a pint glass.

Thanks to gford217 for this Secret Santa gift.

A - Clear copper with an inch and a half of foamy off-white head that lingers for a long time. Lots of lacing.

S - Piney hops with a little bit of slightly sour orange zest. Some toasted malt and caramel as well. Hint of something almost soapy though that brings it down from a 4.

T - Nice juicy piney hops with a hint of sweetness. Reasonably malty backbone with some biscuits and a hint of toffee. Pretty good, but not amazing.

M - Full-bodied with moderate carbonation, but with a little slick oiliness to it that's not entirely pleasant.

D - Started out high, but after I got through most of a pint, I wasn't ready to chug the rest of the bottle.

Had a lot of potential going for it but there was just enough of something slightly off to it that kept me from giving it much above average.

Appearance: Pours a clear amber color with a massive head that sheets the pint glass

Smell: Caramel malt with a vague piney aspect

Taste: Opens with a lot of bready/caramel flavor but by mid-palate, the herbal/piney hops balance out some of the sweetness; after the swallow, the bready malt returns and lingers in the finish

Mouthfeel: Medium body with moderate carbonation

Drinkability: Found this one in the back of the fridge and didn't realize how old it was; I marked up the score a little higher as the hops have faded somewhat but it is still a decent beer, though the name is rather juvenile (but that is Sweetwater for you)

22 oz. bottle. Pours a hazy copper color with a fizzy off-white head. Aroma is sweet, caramel malts, big amount of earthiness, and a touch of citrus. Flavor is caramel malts, grass, wood, toffee, grapefruit, and bread. Mouthfeel is medium, dry, and bitter. Good beer.

I had not had a chance to get a hold of some of the older one offs from Sweetwater but thanks to the generosity of a very nice and fine trader I was able to track these all down. Served cold and poured into a pint glass, this one was enjoyed on 04/17/2010.

Dark amber pours with lots of reddish highlights along the sides and the bottom of the glass. Nice head of around two fingers in height then rose up from the bottom of the glass to cap it off quite well. Dripping down the sides the lacing really thickened up the further down you went. Aroma is piney hops, rich with loads of caramel malts thrown in as well. Not as pungent as I would have hoped but it still had a lot of depth and character to it for sure. Nice balance here as it warms some notes of orange mix in. Creamy, very, very full body for the style and this really grabbed my attention. The flavors were able to really just lay across the tongue and really soak up through the palate. Again very well done and I have to admit I am really liking what I am seeing here. Smooth, lightly dry finish is capped by piney hops and a nice touch of caramel flavor.

Overall very solid. Obviously the hops have faded a touch but I really think as a red ale it is working even better now. I would love to see this in six packs, could really work on a fall night.

Thanks to TimmyP for a nice winter-time trade that included this bottle. The look of it freaked my wife out a bit, so it's sat for longer than I intended in the fridge until I snuck it out tonight. Even without the, ah, artwork, she's not digging it much.

Ach, vell. Nice looking amber color, nothing wild, just a touch of haze from the dregs of the bottle. Smells very good, sweet, bready malts tangled in citrus.

Wet Dream isn't quite what it's cracked up to be. There's a seamy, metallic flow in this that distracts & detracts from the other qualities. Very malty, bready, with a cascade of sweetness. The hops show themselves only at the end & with a quick, unfocused slash of bitterness. I suspect the wet-hopping would have been more pronounced three months ago. If it weren't making my fillings sing, I could drink this while someone painted my picture.

Pretty good beer, but as noted, the metallic quality knocks this down a notch or two. Remove that & you'd have a nice amber. As is, just pretty good.

Thanks to gford217 for keeping my sweetwater needs fulfilled.

Poured from a 22oz bomber into a pint glass. A semi soft pour produced a solid 1 inch off white head. Receding to leave a very generous collar of retention and thick sticky lace coverage.
Color is a hazey reddish amber, not exactly red, but not exactly not red.

Aroma is super malty and sweet, bready buttered biscuits, a touch of cotton candy, distant hops in a grassy minty aroma with mild bittering.

Mouthfeel is terrific, full thickness feel with modest carbonation, quite laid back too and very smooth with a sticky finish.

Taste is a bready blasting of malt and grain busting at the seams. Sweet flavors build, but do not overwhelm in a awkward annoying way. Desirable delicious sweet malt.
Hops do not bite here, they have that whole cone, low alpha flavor, providing a freshness that cannot be denied as well as a mild mint and herbal tea flavor.
Finishing with sweet malt and hops that pucker only slightly in a light bittering fashion.

This is a hugely drinkable brew that can be enjoyed by all types of beer drinkers. Very clean and easy going down. Loved that part of it. The color though does not seem completely intact with the style.
