I have said it a million times Iam sucker for a big hopped up red and this fits the bill to a tee.Poured into an impy nonic a dee rich amber with a large blooming off white head atop that took a long time to settle.Fresh resiny and grapefruit hop aromas really jump out at ya,a lighter brown sugar-like malty sweetness comes into play as well.A medium to full almost creamy-like feel wich is odd for the style in the mouth,it glides down very easy.Resiny sticky hops and a hefty caramel malt base fight for supremacy until a bitter hop shot in the finish.a very good beer, nearly great, for me the best of the Dank Tank series.

picked up this bomber in the atl at green's!
the appearance is super dark and danky just the way a double ipa should be
smells of a superb balance of malts and hops...maybe a touch of chocolate and a hint of coffee
the taste is very malty, but not over malted a nice balance with the hops...but the hops are almost don't make their presence known
the feel is the best ever!...super creamy and just coats your entire mouth
overall this might be one of the best double ipa's ive ever tried!

Pours a deep, deep amber with a thin lacing of foamy head. It smells of intense, spicy, earthy, faint piney hops. You can just barely smell notes of toast and caramel malts underneath the intense hop aroma. The taste is also very hoppy. I get the hops immediately; spicy, earthy, mildly citrusy, floral, and piney - full spectrum. The malt comes through a little in the finish. It's toasty with faint notes of caramel. This is a medium bodied beer with great carbonation and is very smooth.
I happen to really enjoy this one, but I'm a hop head. If you prefer a more malty, less hoppy amber ale, then this won't be for you. A little more balance would probably make this more friendly to the masses, but for me though this was the coming together of an amber and an IPA, and it was an awesome marriage.

Deep mahogany color with decent cream colored head. Nice aroma of fresh hops with some bready caramel malt. Taste is excellent -- piney, fruity hops, resin, bread, caramel. Just a really top-notch blend of the hops and malt...excellent complements. Mouthfeel is good, with appropriate carbonation. Dry.
Really a pleasant surprise. It's been a while since either Terrapin or Sweetwater hit a home run with one of their one-offs, but this one is easily over the fence. Reminds me a lot of one of Bear Republic's beers -- either Hop Rod Rye or Red Rocket Ale...can't quite remember which one it was. Either way, that's great company to be in. Hoppy, tasty and easy-drinking.

Poured into a seidel. A deep red/copper color with a dirty-white finger of head. The color is perfect.
Smells like hops. Lots of fresh grapefruit and a little lemon.
Tastes more like an IPA. Moderate malt flavors: sorta sweet. Big bitter profile piled on right afterwards though. And it doesn't stop even after the drink is done. The biting bitterness of grapefruit is most prevalent.
Creamy and chewy texture. Surprising but really nice. Moderate carbonation.
Great and surprisingly unique red ale. The flavor was good but the look and texture were amazing.

Growler poured into a Pint Glass.
A - Pours a surprisingly dark reddish-brown with a big, soapy khaki-colored cap that settles to a thin cap, leaving tons of sticky lacing.
S - Pungent hop aromas of grapefruit, pineapple, mango, and peach with a solid caramel malt backbone.
T - Lots of dank, resinous hop flavors of grapefruit and tropical fruit with a moderately sweet caramel/candi sugar malt profile that nicely stands up to all that stank!
M - Smooth and fairly creamy, with a touch-over-medium body and good, crisp carbonation.
O - Really excellent Amber Ale, SweetWater has truly hit their stride lately!

Appearance: mahogany red. Not opaque but not much light geting through this amber.Nice off white head.
Smell: fruit and malt, but the hops are the star here. Nice malt, sweet, bitter, fruit mix.
Mouthfeel: pretty full.
Overall: so much great beer out there these days. Nice addition from my home state.
