Notes / Commercial Description:
After 4 months of tilling and hoeing, Farmer MacDanknugs was cockeyed with anticipation, ready to reap his reward of fresh sticky nugs. Firing up his supercharged John Beere, ol’ MacDank blazed straight down to plow some primo Amarillo, Citra, and Simcoe, harvesting the funkiest hop buds to cap off this succulent unfiltered 8% Double IPA. Our farmer drifted into a happy haze from the aromas of grapefruit, passion fruit, and orange, daydreaming of the juicy brew to come.

really excited to find one of these at the local store. pint can into a pint glass, this thing is a murky orange with a huge pile of off white reddi whip that creeps its way down and makes a mess. nose is quite subdued, lots of berry and citrus but quite mellow on the skunk factor. drinking this changes all of that. starts off a bomb of citrus and berries with a sweet malt background and just transforms into a resin-y sticky beer, both after each sip and as it warms. at first i was missing the 'dank' notes but in the end it held true. drinks smooth and almost creamy, leaves a prominent bitterness in the throat and the booze shows itself from time to time. i'll be back for more

Pours a deep, deep amber with a thin lacing of foamy head. It smells of intense, spicy, earthy, faint piney hops. You can just barely smell notes of toast and caramel malts underneath the intense hop aroma. The taste is also very hoppy. I get the hops immediately; spicy, earthy, mildly citrusy, floral, and piney - full spectrum. The malt comes through a little in the finish. It's toasty with faint notes of caramel. This is a medium bodied beer with great carbonation and is very smooth.

I happen to really enjoy this one, but I'm a hop head. If you prefer a more malty, less hoppy amber ale, then this won't be for you. A little more balance would probably make this more friendly to the masses, but for me though this was the coming together of an amber and an IPA, and it was an awesome marriage.

A 22oz bomber picked up at Green's on Buford Highway right after work. Oh yeah...

A - A darker, burnt red color. 1 finger of head, and a little bit of sticky lace down the side of the glass. No sediment floating around.

S - Holy hoppiness! Citrus hops jump out of the glass and into your nostrils.

T - Very sweet up front, and then the citrus hops kick in. Finishes dry and bitter. Excellent!

M - Medium carbonation, with an oily aftertaste

O - Another great concoction from Sweetwater's Dank Tank! I am impressed with the speed they are now churning them out. I think Ghoulash just came out about 2 months ago! This is one of the best of them. Grab it while you can, or 2

Received a 1 PINT 6 FL OZ bottle of this in a trade w/ CurtisMcArthur. Poured from the Bright Red/Green/Yellow labeled bottle w/ "el Danko" holding up a bar while he has Hops stuck to him & Red First ants climbing up his legs into a 12oz Schlafly Tulip Glass. Has BEST WHEN REFRIGERATED but no Freshness Date.

Aroma- Tons of fruit, sweetness, and malt hit the nose first. Has a medium caramel background. Hits the nose hard with character!

Appearance- Pours a .5 finger head but dies shorty after. Has the darkest brown/amber colored body possible. Leaves light lacing but very thick across the whole glass.

Flavor- Has tons of carmel and sweet hops in the beginning. Hops and malts are very well balanced and still have nice attributes that make them up! Sweet hops and a medium bitterness level then finishes the beer.

Mouthfeel- Medium Bodied, Medium-High Carbonation, Smooth, and has tons of caramel and sweet malts that finish on the palate.

Overall Impression- I would buy this brew again just for the branding! A very impressive Amber/Red Ale. This could also be one of my top 10 Reds. Pursuit of Hoppiness still holds to be #1 for me but pick this up if you have a chance! Fantastic.

750 ml bottle poured into a tulip glass.

Beer pours a very dark red color with a finger or so worth of tan head.

Beer smells faintly of hops and fruity.

Beer tastes very earhy of hops, followed by citrusy hops and finishes with a bitter aftertaste, but not too bitter.

Mouthfeel is a bit on the syrupy side.

Very nicely dry hopped.

[Best served in a Snifter]

The pour was a murky chestnut brown with an average sized (1-2 finger) light beige rocky head that reduced after a short while to a few puddles and a medium collar of residue, letting forth some excellent sticky streaks of lace.

The aroma was of a dark bread malt, a moderate pine hop and an earthy yeast with notes of caramel, dark fruit and a bit of citrus (grapefruit).

The taste was a little sweet and yeasty with a note of caramel early on, but got extremely hoppy very quickly with a big dose of citrus and a mild touch of dark fruit towards the end. The flavor lasted average duration after the swallow with a nice lightly sweet citrus hoppiness left to linger.

Mouthfeel was just under medium in body with as dry texture and a soft carbonation.

Overall a good and hoppy Strong Ale with a nice mild sweetness to it...

A: Pours a dark reddish-brown; fat 3 finger-width head, sticky lacing, lots of retention

S: Fresh wet hops covered in sticky sweet tropical rock candy. Notes of pineapple, mango, and grapefruit

T: Starts off with some sweet hops up front, opens up into a nice bitterness along the middle, finishes with more sweet hops and a nice malt backbone

M: Thick and creamy, low carbonation, no hint of booze at all

O: This was a delicious hoppy double red ale, one that I would definitely pick up again
