LifeSource is probably my favorite store in Salem. There's an excellent selection of natural foods, organic fruits & veggies and an outstanding natural suppliment selection. The staff is friendly, knowledgable and extremely helpful.

As for the beer, well, for the size of the beer section, it's one of the better-curated selections I've seen. It packs a lot of punch for such a small space. The selection leans toward local Northwest stuff, but you'll see other national & international items available. Liam, the beer guy, has been doing a nice job of rotating in seasonals as they are released. Prices are very reasonable, and it's nice to be able to pick up singles as well as multi-packs.

Captial Market beats it in sheer volume (and therefore selection), but pound-for-pound, LifeSource is definitely the best-curated beer selection in Salem.

Kudos to Reidrover - he beat me to it.

LifeSource is where my family does most of its grocery shopping. In recent months, I do more of my beer buying there too. With recent remodel improvements, the store now has one of the better beer selections in Salem. The store boasts 135 different brews (probably includes about a half-dozen ciders) which are available as singles - this is the only store in Salem I know of that displays and prices 12 oz. bottles as singles. Lots of bombers too, and they still had some 2011 The Abyss yesterday. Many beers are available in six packs at a slightly reduced price compared to singles, and they run month long sales on selected items. As previously noted, the store's selection has expanded and improved greatly with the new beer steward (Liam) much to my chagrin - no fault of the store that I may be gluten intolerant. But they do have the best gluten free beer selection in Salem. Some of the more recent additions include: Duvel, some Brasserie Dieu Du Ciel and Unibroue selections, Dogfish Head, and many Northwest brews. Recommended.

Largish "Natural food" store in S.Salem. Good selection of beer in 3 or 4 large coolers at back of store. Always had a nice selection but now its getting great. They have a new beer selector ( Liam) and he is geting in a wide variety of beers especially Oregon ones. Recently seeing beers from "Upright" for the first time in Salem and with Venti's just across the road this is a place to stop for the beer geek. In this store you cn also purchase deli type natural/vegan food and eat it at a few tables ( no beer). Staff are friendly and prices reasonable for beer. Recommended.
