I had to pick this up in Austin as Deep Ellum moved out of the Houston market. Nonetheless, this was a great pumpkin beer. Great malty flavor that didn't overwhelm with pumpkin spices. I chose to drink it on Halloween rather than Thanksgiving as it has a monster on the label haha.

Poured from the bottle into my trusty DFH tulip... don't hate.

A - Pours a murky rust-brown, with a light tan one-finger head that recedes pretty quickly. Carbonation level is about average for a British-style beer.

S - Light hints of pumpkin spice, a bit of vegetal pumpkin, cereal graininess, and a dollop of smoke, and fairydust. Nice to come across a departure from the typical "Spice-bomb" style of pumpkin ale we've become accustomed to. Yippie.

T - Pie spice leads the front, with cinnamon and nutmeg holding most of the weight, as far as the spices go. Barely sweet compared to the norm, for this style. Not pumpkin pie in a glass... thank GOD. The sweet potato adds not only nice smoky flavors, but a bit of vanilla and the yummy sweet potato flavor that I love so much about them.
Hops are an afterthought, as they should be, and the ABV is quite well-hidden, considering that this beer clocks in at 7.5%. A tad creamy, too. Well done, DEBC.

M - Creamy, smooth and easily drinkable. The carbonation isn't intrusive, or overbearing, just light and tingly, reminiscent of a Moscato D'asti wine.
This is a beer that could get you in trouble, as easy to drink as it is.

O - A damn fine first effort from DEBC's new head brewer! No surprise, considering he came from Dogfish Head, and the fact that DFH has churned out some of my favorite beers over the past few years. Possibly one of the best pumpkin beers I have had this year, next to Uinta Oak Jacked. I plan on snagging several more of these to enjoy over the next few weeks, especially with thanksgiving dinner. Drink it as soon as you can. This beer is a pumpkin masterpiece!
