On draft at LSA Burgers in Denton TX 7-3-21.
1/4" white head hangs in at a solid cap. Clear bronze-golden lager. No lacing.
Sweet grain/cereal, simple and clean aroma. Similar flavor, clean and seems well made.
Light body, medium carbonation and a quick, clean finish. Slight sweetness.
Easy to drink, tasted fresh, would go with most anything.
Good.

can poured to a tulip...jk...lol

pours a clear deep gold body with an off-white frothy foam head that billows up to two fingers and hangs there with moderate retention before settling down to a thin halo, and leaving no lacing behind as it does so.

aroma is bready, grainy sweet malt and super ripe citrus and crisp apple with a little grass on the wings

taste follows that up pretty directly.

mouthfeel is mid-level carbonation and lighter body; runs full, grainy and crisp with a semi-dry and clean finish

overall:
it's a simple thing but done well.

Light, grainy and fruity. Decent carbonation and refreshing, with a very good 6% for this style. Not as stern as the true Czech beers are but does the trick. I'd drink again.

A: Pours a slightly hazy medium golden amber in color with moderate amounts of active visible carbonation rising along the edges of the glass and moderate orange + burnt orange + golden yellow colored highlights. The beer has a two finger tall dense sudsy foamy beige head that slowly reduces to a large patch of thin film covering the entire surface of the beer and a thin ring at the edges of the glass. Light amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Just shy of moderate aromas of bready + grainy + slightly toasted malts with a light to moderate amount of light fruit (apple + green apple) sweetness. Hints of grassy hops.

T: Upfront there are moderate flavors of bready + grainy + slightly toasted malts with a light to moderate amount of light fruit (apple + green apple) sweetness. That is followed by very light flavors of grassy hops which impart a light amount of bitterness which fades away fairly quickly.

M: Light to medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Slightly crisp upfront with a relatively clean finish.

O: Easy to drink with well hidden alcohol and a decently refreshing. Enjoyable and slightly fruitier and sweeter than some other AALs. Would pair nicely with spicy foods.

A: The beer is slightly hazy amber yellow in color and has a light amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a half finger high white head that left a collar around the edge of the glass and a thin layer of bubbles covering the surface.
S: Light aromas of apples and pale malts are present in the nose.
T: The taste is a tad sweet and has notes of apple juice and slight hints of pale malts.
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation. There is a bit of cleanness to the mouthfeel.
O: This beer tastes a little fruitier and sweeter compared to other adjunct lagers.

Poured from a can into a pint glass
Appearance- The beer pours a clear orange-amber color with a small head of persistent white foam. The head fades rather fast leaving a little bit of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell –The aroma of the brew is rather malty with a little bit of a fruity sweetness. The malty smell is mainly of a bready and lightly grainy smell with the fruit being a mix of harvest fruits. Along with these smells comes some notes of caramel and corn syrup as well.
Taste – The taste begins as one may have expected from the nose with a moderately strong bready taste mixed with some grain and a little bit of caramel and corn syrup sweetness. As the taste advances flavors of an herbal hop and a little bit of grass and floral hop comes to the tongue. At the very end a slightly metallic taste hits the tongue, giving an almost malt like taste to the brew that lingers to the end of the taste.
Mouthfeel –The body of the brew was average in thickness and creaminess with a carbonation level that was rather average as well. For the malt like characteristics of the brew a little higher carbonation level and a thinner body have been slightly better, but overall the fell was OK.
Overall – I get a more malt liquor like vibe from this brew over that of a Mexican lager (albeit they are somewhat similar in style…) OK, but nothing worth going out of your way for…

Poured a 19.2 oz. can into a regular pint glass. Maybe the only thing I really liked about this beer was the cool artwork on the can. Light copper color to it. Not a bad looking beer when poured. Fizzy-type smell to it. Kind of smells like a Lone Star to me. You kind of taste the Mexican-style to it. Not sure why the say it's a "Czech-Style"? Doesn't taste like any Czech beer I've had. Neato Bandito sort of tastes like a cheap macro-lager. That's the best way I can describe it. Nothing wrong with that but it is what it is. I can drink this beer, and if it's the only thing around I will, but it is probably the last time I purchase it. I've been wanting to give NB the benefit of the doubt.

Pretty fun take on a Mexican lager - it’s certainly darker (a slightly hazy golden amber color), and there’s a malt component on the nose and the taste that I don’t normally find with the style.

There is, though, a corn flavor that actually works. I’d drink this again, especially when it is amped up to 6% ABV.

So I had never tried a beer by Deep Ellum before and picked up a 12 pack variety. This beer was one of them and I was intrigued by the Czech - style lager. Has a very strong taste to it but after about 4 sips it is a nice taste. Has a nice head on it at pour and a light brew color like Coors Light. Not sure I would personally make this my daily drink but might be good with mexican food. Try if on sale otherwise don't waste your money.

Okay, being from Texas I’m always looking to promote Texas craft beer. This is the second selection I’ve tried from these guys and I’m officially done. At least I was able to finish this one. Look was as expected. Smell was nil. First of all it should’ve been a German inspired Mexican lager, wtf. It is syrupy sweet, very little balancing hops, basically a mess. Not as bad as their (blonde), I poured that one out. They should spend a little more time on their recipe instead of the art work on the can. A disgrace to Texas brewing, no more for me. Avoid at all cost.

Pours with a sweet alcohol aroma, which caught me a bit off guard. There is very little head atop the cloudy, dark amber brew. Carbination is low. The flavor is quite unusual. Not really like any Mexican lager I've ever had. It actually reminds me of some strong Belguim ales I've had, but weaker of course. There is the familiar astringent note that most macro lagers have. It's actually better poured in a mug than straight from the can. Overall, there is a strong sweet/alcohol flavor that does not go down too smooth.

It looks gorgeous in this frozen schooner with the thick head and the lacing is so pretty. It’s ice cold on this hot June day. Taste is well hidden in its chilled state. I don’t smell anything. This is no way to enjoy a beer and write a good review. Overall it looks good to the restaurant patrons who came for the Mexican food. I’ll revisit this one when I get a six pack. On draft at the Mexican Inn.

I won't lie, this is one of my favorite beers. It has a great light feel, but fades fast on the tongue. Taste is very level but still intrusive in a good way. Low hoppy, medium malt with a mild tart and mild bite. Good level lacing and head, but falls enough in line with the every day pils to be an easy favorite.

No hay mucho que hacer aquí. Buena cerveza. Fácil de beber. No mucha profundidad. Más malta que nada. Neato bandito es un tramo.

If you like complexity, this is nacho cerveza.

Another Vienna lager, and it is tasty! Poured from a can into a snifter. A clear golden Amber with a thick initial head and decent lacing. The smell is sweet and fruity. The taste is fruity and malty and satisfying. A likable beer! Great with spicy food.

they call this a mexican style lager, and i think i like it better than their more common blonde. for one its much stronger, has some definite lager yeast flavor, and is still super drinkable. sort of a vienna lager hybrid, it has that hint of red color to it, at least compared with the blonde, and it absolutely has a richer malt base flavor. smooth and nutty on the palate, earthy and not as sweet as it looks and smells like it might be. some slight caramelization i think, but this is a light beer through and through. blanched almonds and honey syrup come to mind, but the entire back half of this is the flavor of the lager yeast. fresh but bready, not quite as good as a refresher in hot weather for this reason, it sits a little bigger, but once the sun goes down behind the building there at deep ellum, this is a wonderful all nighter out back in their beer garden. a like the new world twist on the style, having it stronger, fuller, and somewhat hoppier, although this is still no place near being describable as hoppy. well made and just different enough to stand out. all in our group enjoyed this one, surprised to see it rated so poorly here on BA...

Not a beer snob here.

I never drink the beers you disparagingly compare this beer to. And while the list to the right may be accurate for class, it's not for taste.

This is what I would call my everyday beer. Hate that it is seasonal. It's cloudy with a slight Amber floor. Solid aroma. Fantastic with Tex Mex, no lime/salt neeeded. You know you are drinking a beer with this. It is not some clear mass produced carbonated alcoholic water as the other suggest.

Please make this year round.

Pretty low ratings here, thought it was a pretty solid AAL to be honest. Not as good as a pils, but there was definitely a slight pils influence here with an ever so slight bit of hoppy character.

If you're a pils fan it'll get you through, but as there is no shortage of pilsener, just pick one of those up instead. Much better AAL though than most others out there.

Chalk it up to the fact I'm not a fan of "Mexican-style lagers". This seems to be for the crowd that prefers Lone Star or Shiner Blonde, though you can tell they at least care what they're making.

Pours a quick-dissipating white head (one finger) with no lacing. Color is a blonde-gold and has slight haze.

Smell is kind of grassy but not much else. A little bit of that macro whang that smacks of grain, paper, some cabbage too. Checking the website, they do admit to using "flaked maize" (i.e. corn) in the beer so that makes sense. No hops.

Taste has bitterness and slight grass at the front with more grain and some sweet bread. The ghost of a hop gasps out.

Has a nice bite from the higher than average ABV. Finishes crisp and clean but leaves no impression.

An average lager with a slight twist, this is alright for slamming brewskis with the boys and if you gave one to your Bud Bro he wouldn't notice much difference. I can do without it, though I would have it over other adjunct lagers.

To good health and good beer.

Breadiness with a touch of bitter and grass. Crisp and medium bodied.

This pours out a clear bright gold with an airy head about a half a finger's width tall. The nose offers a faint but clean malt flavor. Flavor is quite bland, with just malt--it is at least quality, not grainy malt, but this is basically that dullest of styles, a neutral unhoppy lager. Why Deep Ellum chose to make one, I don't know. I was hoping from the 'czech-inspired' there would be some hop interest here. There's not.
