Bought a 6 pack in Aldersons supermarket in Ft. Worth Texas. Pours a hazy dull gold color with a small white head. Average head retention and some lacing. Aroma and taste, malty up front (dry biscuity malt) followed by citrus hops. Some grapefruit and orange/tangerine. Medium bitterness. Mouthfeel is light, ok bitterness, fairly run of the mill. Nothing wrong with this beer, it is just not a standout IPA.

Served on tap in a pint glass
Appearance – The beer is served a lightly hazed orange yellow color with a one finger head of fluffy white foam. The head fades rather fast leaving a little bit of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma of the brew is big of grapefruit citrus hops and some sweeter citrus of tangerine and ruby red grapefruit. Along with these smells comes a bit of lemon and a touch of grass.
Taste – The taste begins with a crisp malt flavor that is backed by a rather decent showing of grapefruit citrus hop. The taste follows the nose rather well as some flavors of lemongrass and lemon zest join the tongue. Along with a little bit of a herbal hop comes more toward the end of the taste and leaves one with a moderately to lightly hopped, but rather easy drinking taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is average to slightly thinner in thickness and creaminess with a carbonation level that is average as well. Overall a slightly higher carbonation may have been better for the lemon and citrus hop tastes, but overall the feel is pretty nice.
Overall – A decent brew overall, but nothing super exceptional overall. Good but not outstanding..

Poured from a can. 1 finger head that does not linger very long. Dark, amber color with some cloudiness. The look of the veer is very appealing, it there is no bouquet. The lack of bouquet matches the lack of flavor. If Budweiser had an IPA bud... this is what it would taste like .

I had just drank this company's neato bandito beer and instantly lost hope in their product as that beer tastes like a malt liquor like steel reserve but already had their mixed pack. This beer is a very light all day work IPA that just goes down easy and washes that bandito right away. Well I have had better beers I could see adding this one to my rotation of fancier beer. I do love the art on the cans and their little joke type things like their "brewed and bottled by..." that has bottled scratched out and canned scratched above it. If they had put as much time into their Bandito beer as this one they would be a lot higher on my list of good beer. But as for this beer would definitely recommend

Appearance:
Light amber, slight haze. Medium rising bubbles. Mousse like head. Moderate head retention.

Aroma:
Citrus, tangerine, bright hops, semi-sweet bread.

Taste/Finish/Body:
Moderate hop bitterness, mostly citrus. There some tangerine flavor, it blends with the hop character. Low malt profile, semi-sweet bread. Finish is in the dry side, lingers fairly long. Light-medium bodied, wet, good drinkability, moderate carbonation.

Overall:
It's not bad, but it's boring.

Canned Sept 2018. Pours a hazy golden color with a finger width foamy head. Head retention is good. Lacing is very good. Nice lemon aroma with some piney resin. A lot of lemon in the taste, maybe a little much, with a bitter piney punch at the end. Light bodied with moderate to heavy carbonation. There is a ton of sediment in the beer, so I am not sure if that is normal for it or not. Was actually impressed given the age of the beer.

Golden in color. Head is not there. Nose hinted at a lime or lemon. The taste was bready, with not expected. Wasn’t quite the taste I wanted in an ipa. Decent beer, but Deep Ellum does a lot better.

Coudy bright orange with a very large foamy white head.

A slight herb nose with some Sprite, Sweet Tart, a but of rusty iron, and cucumber melon.

Taste is bready lemon lime with a metallic tang and faint pine.

Light body but well carbonated. All elements of this are light overall.

Smell: a good amount of squeezed lemon tangerine orange peel a hint of salt.
Taste: not much going on with this beer it smells a lot more foward then it tastes. Hints of citrus fruit peel with a dry crackery malt back bone. No real hop presence in this beer.
Feel: light bodied waterd down very dry in the finish.
Overall: just a pretty boring beer the nose is nice on it but the taste isn't great. Not a very good beer.

Turbid darker orange hue, plenty of floaties which bother me none. Frothy white head that settles quickly for an IPA, into a ring with great lacing. Aroma has plenty of citrus such as squeezed orange, slight pine and a sweet bready malt. Following the aroma well, with hints of citrus but more of a noticeable sweet malt flavor. Mouthfeel is suprisingly oily, yet an easy drinker. Overall malt pretty much dominates, nice amount of citrus undertones and very little hop bitterness.

12 oz can was poured into a Mason jar.

Appearance: A one fingerhead was poured that reduced to a thin layer. It is a slightly hazy orange color with some clarity and vision of tiny bubbles coming up through the glass.

Smell: Herbal, citrus, slight pine, lemon, pale, toasted, and bready malts.

Taste: Nice and light herbal and hop flavor. Complimentary malt bill, light bitterness, and slight chewy notes.

Mouthfeel: Light bodied, medium carbonation, crisp, refreshing, light bitterness, and sessionable.

Overall: A nice sessionable IPA. Easy drinking, but more grapefruit and lemon flavor would have been nice.

On tap at Star Pizza #1. Fairly turbid dark yellow. Pleasant citrusy aroma. Balance is good...at least it's not loaded with caramel malt sweetness. If I tasted this without knowing the style, I would guess "APA" but I suppose an IPA that is brewed to be "crushable" (do you love that expression as much as me? (((rolls eyes)))) ) is pretty much a pale ale. This is pretty good, if a little one-dimensional. The hops seem to be citrusy with none of that piney dankness that my favorite IPAs give me. I probably won't re-visit but I enjoyed our time together well enough.

this could be a lot better than it is, rather, the flavor is great, but it has some areas that could really be improved. for one, its super cloudy, like hefeweizen hazy, way too cloudy, even by the east coast standard, and it doesnt have much of a head, looks flat in the glass after the initial pour, and doesnt pack in a whole lot of carbonation, which i think is important if not absolutely critical in this style. the aroma is great, cool mix of citrus forward hops and actual citrus, lemon and tangerine have a nice back and forth with bitter and then sweet essential oils, really heady and pungent. the flavor is even better than the nose, this tastes great, refreshing and not too fruity, the peel is dosed perfectly. lighter malt base, still with a nice crackery flavor to it, and definitely on the dry side, especially for a fruited brew. the mouthfeel drags again though, its a little gritty in texture, not refined quite enough, and the lack of carbonation hurts it for me. a few clean ups here and this is next level. if you dig the citrus ipa craze right now, this is one of the better ones even with its shortcomings. on tap at the brewery.

L - light orange with 2 fingers of white head that quickly dissipated.

S - floral notes with some hoppy bite.

T - more florals with some sweet citrus fruit.

F - thin with med high carbonation.

O - won’t turn it down but won’t seek it out.

By the taste of the hops, something tells me that I got an old batch. Not many citrus undertones, I get much more out of any hefe. Will review again given the chance. Alright lacing, it's not too bad or strong, but all I'm really getting is an underlying old bitterness.

Good drinkable beer. I had it straight out the can unfortunately. But damn do the name do it justice. It's warm and I still love it. Will drink if I see it in the future. Cool to have in a create your own sixer.

L: Orange copper color with a hint of pink. Nice head that stuck around. No lacing. S: First sniff had a nice fresh lemon scent. After that more bread and cracker malt. Not a lot of hop. T: Wow, lots more lemon than I expected. Citrusy bite, almost grapefruit like. Lots of flavor for a session. F: Well carbonated, which goes well with the citrus bite. Almost puckering from the lemon. O: Overall a lot of flavor for a session, which is nice, but I'd actually pick to see it toned down a bit if I was going to drink more than one or two on a hot day.

A great experience, but they left me searching for just something a little bit more robust. However, I actually liked it better after first drinking a Tangier IPA. It seemed to bring out more of the flavor.

This beer was loaded with white chunks of something floating around in it,
not very pleasant appearance. This beer still had a very solid and nice citrus and pine aroma that I just enjoy.
I leave the rest for later, maybe at some other time I will be able to enjoy one of these that tastes as good as the aroma smells.

A wonderful citrusy smell meets the nose as this beer is poured from a can into a pint glass. Decent head and lacing. The taste is very fruity with a strong grapefruit taste a a bit of a bitter finish. Over all very good, and tastes great with guacamole.

appearance-Cloudy, tons of sediment, and an orange amber color. Pours a dense pillowy two inch tall head.

aroma- As expected their is tons of citrus in the aroma and a little bit of grapefruit/pine in the background too.

taste- Definitely getting the fruits at first which a light refreshing aspect to the beer. Lots of citrus and tangerine dominating the flavor, the fruit more so than the actual hops. Dry bready malt shows up in the finish helps provide a clean finish.

feel- The fruits kinda thins things out at first, but the malts in the back end fill things out. Very clean, refreshing, and easy to drink.

overall- Really nice ipa that would be perfect for the summer. Usually not the biggest fan of fruit being directly added to a beer, but it works pretty well here as it isn't overly juicy and thin. Overall, this is a solid ipa that drinks really easily.

As if Deep Ellum's standard IPA wasn't good enough, they've added lemon peel to create an extremely dank flavor. This is one of the better IPAs that I have had in a very long time, I highly recommend this one to fans of west coast style IPAs who enjoy the extra dank flavor in their brew.

Appearance: hazy honey/orange, 1-2 fingers of off-white head, no floaties observed

Aroma: first impression is fresh citrus; orange, lemon and some grapefruit, then a slight hint of malt

Flavor: again, first impression is the citrus followed by mild malt and bright, but not dominating, hop highlights

Mouth feel: light and clean

Overall: quite a pleasing, easy drinking, session IPA

Final Opinion: It is what it is, a session IPA. The only slight negative is a touch too much citrus peel that can add that unwanted acidic bitterness; not the pleasant hop bitterness. Available in cans is a big plus being that it is a summer brew when one might be involved in outdoor activities where bottles would not be an option; boating, poolside, etc... Easy Peasy, Lemon Squeezy!

** After drinking a few cans from a few more recent productions, the "acidic bitterness" was completely absent. It may be that the slight "off taste" from last purchase may be due to a more dated offering or a production issue; not sure. I therefore have improved the rating for Taste and Overall. All is well...

Hard for me to rate a Deep Ellum product so low, but the sedimentation in this beer was unbearable. The smell was decent, and what I did drink was rather pedestrian; a typical session IPA.

I'll stick to their standard issue IPA (7% ABV), which is very good.
