Trying the Deep Ellum IPA at Mojos Sports Bar and Grill. The beer poured a clear golden with white head that is lacing like a Victoria secret catalog. The scent was bitter citrus with pine tones. The taste was bitter through the drink...definitely had grapefruit peel zeal with some pine resin. The Mouthfeel was medium in body with good carbonation. Overall it's worth a try.

Damn solid IPA.... Very drinkable and pleasant. An incredibly fine, everyday drinker....Especially for lovers of hops. The perfect balance of hoppiness and citrus.

L- Brilliant color. Deep amber, pumpkin in appearance. About a half a fingers worth of head that quickly disappeared which was the only disappointment of this beer.

S- Not much here. Slight aroma of hops and malt. Hints of orange and just a touch of sweetness.

T- Very hoppy in taste. Incredibly smooth. Doesn't leave that bite like a west coast IPA may.

O- absolutely solid IPA.....the fact that it is easily attainable pushes this IPA over the top. Would definitely keep this in the fridge on a full time basis

Appearance: Pours a nice clear amber/copper color. Has some pretty nice head retention and lacing.

Smell: Smells of light caramel malt, then a lot of citrus and tropical fruit. Doesn't smell overly bitter.

Taste: A bit of caramel malt peeks through initially, but following that is citrus, tropical fruit and florals. Very little bitterness on the back end, which is what could really take it to the next level.

Mouthfeel/Overall: Light-medium bodied with fairly low carbonation, but very smooth. Overall, this one surprised me quite a bit. I love tropical and citrus flavor in my IPAs, so I was a pretty big fan of this. I do wish they would have bittered it a bit more just to take it to the next level. But still really nice overall.

CAN:

Orange pulp. Bitter orange. 2-row. Pale malt. Floral hop notes. Marmalade.

Hop profile is nothing special or unique, nor is it particularly effective. It's a balanced beer but it plays it so safe and close to center that there isn't much to balance. More depth of hop flavour would be needed for this to be a memorable IPA.

There are so damn many IPAs out there right now, and many are excellent. You've really got to bring a terrific hop profile in terms of flavour, diversity, and balance in order to stand out...this fails to be anything but forgettable.

03/01/19 CAN:

Hum-ho hop profile. Floral, bits of mango flirtation, caramalt, 2-row. Meh.
