Cloudy, orange hued pour; thick, persistent, creamy white head; sticky globs of foam clinging to the glass. Immediate rush of citrus and pine aroma when popping the can; orange and pineapple. Juicy flavor quality; orange juice; orange rind; tart; subtle bread-like grains; strong hop bitterness. Medium-heavy in body; dry finish.

I'm a-liking this TX IPA. It's bold and citrusy with excellent depth and balance throughout. I mean, hell, it just brings a satisfying grin to my face.

Canned Nov 09. A clear light amber with a dense, off white head with good retention and lacing, this looks great. The nose is dominated by juicy hops, fruity, pine like with grapefruit, orange juice, cooked fruit with candied orange peel, mulled citrus and a doughy malt character. The palate opens mildly sweet with a moderate hop bitterness, one that even has a surprising aspirin like astringency. Along with this is a moderate about of fruity hop flavor. Citrus with orange and grapefruit with candied peel are present. A definite doughy, biscuit like malt character is present, and as it segues into the finish, it only amplifies the medicinal hop profile. Medium light in body, this beer is pleasantly carbonated. A solid effort.

I only had this out of the can when I was on vacation in Dallas a few months ago. It pours bright orange with a nice head. Great citrus notes and not overly hoppy. I would prefer a little more bite (my preference) but it is a great beer. The grapefruit is the star in terms of taste and the 7.0 ABV is very deceiving. It drinks more like a session IPA.

Appearance: Hazy golden orange body presents an utterly staggering coarse, sticky, and remarkably persistent off-white head, perhaps three inches in depth. The lacing resembles the streaks that run through fine marble. The carbonation is profuse, minute, and fast-rising.

Aroma: Grassy and mild grapefruit hops vie with lightly toasted malt. The moderately high ABV of 7.0% is not in evidence.

Taste: The taste opens with mildly sweet toasted and caramel malt, as well as the expected wave of grassy, citric, and pine hops. As the taste progresses, the malt and hops blend harmoniously, neither overshadowing the other. The relatively high ABV of 7.0% is more felt as a warming sensation, than it is tasted. Late in the taste, the hops rise, and the mildly sweet malt becomes an undercurrent to fairly strong grapefruit and pine tar hops. Finishes with a lingering, mild pine tar note.

Mouth feel: Smooth, soft, extraordinarily full, very pleasant.

Drinkability/notes: Very well-done, quite enjoyable, this from one who is no particular fan of the American IPA style. Nonetheless, this one is an exemplar. I will certainly be having it again.

Presentation: Packaged in a standard twelve-ounce aluminum can, served in a New Belgium Brewing chalice.

This is an exceptional IPA. Tons of tropical fruit juiciness. Grapefruit, apricot, and mango flavors. Nice lingering bitterness and finish. A top notch West Coast style IPA from Deep Ellum. Get it if you can.
