Pretty weak smell but the taste is much better- bitter grapefruit and a hint of malt. I think it's well balanced and pretty decent overall. Texas, our Texas! All hail the mighty State! Boldest and grandest, Withstanding ev'ry test; O Empire wide and glorious, You stand supremely blest.

Got this one at a liquor store on the north-side of Austin last year. The clerk could not recommend this beer highly enough.

A - Beautiful amber color. Crystal clear with a fluffy white head and great lacing.

S - Strong hop fragrance with great aromas of peach, grapefruit, citrus, and pine. There is so much going on here but not over the top like Pliny.

T - Tremendous flavor with the peach and apricot hops really bringing this one home along with the usual grapefruit, dank, and pine notes in the middle. The hop bitterness is not in contention with the flavor hops but is there and is a nice palate cleanser. There is also a light malt, grain character as well as some fruity yeast in the background.

M - Medium mouth-feel with moderate carbonation. Great IPA feel.

Overall, a great IPA. For being the first craft beer I tried in Texas I could not have chosen a better one. This beer has a lot of fruit flavors that most IPAs don't have which really rocks the taste buds. Another big pro for this beer is it's ability to keep the mouth-feel up without higher ABV and keep all of the flavors both prevalent and memorable. I would strongly recommend this beer just as the cashier had because it is worth it!

L- hazy orange gold color with a large white head that leaves a lace
S-hop and citrus is strong
T-The hops is light at the beginning and has a citrus flavor , then the aftertaste gives you stronger hops taste that fades some at the end, but not all the way
F-Medium body and high carbonation
O-was excited to try this one and it did not let me down. Great beer

My first impression was wow/citrusy! For excitement I like it! Out of a tap but not much head...it may have peaked early. I don't know if it is necessarily my favorite IPA, but it is a safe top 3

Poured from a can into a pint mug at around 52 degrees F. Pours sunset orange with pale yellow around the edges - much like a beautiful Texas sunset. Slight sediment, but I tend to like more... Three finger cavernous beige foam on top that lingers down to about a finger thick layer which stays - very pretty beer to look at... Smell is nice but sort of weak, typical of good single IPAs though. Medium-to-full bodied mouth feel and the alcohol is hidden well. Lots of bubbles but not too much carbonation on the palette... just right, actually. Taste is what really makes this beer - apricots, papaya, ripe mandarin oranges, slight peachy like sweetness with a citrus tartness that coats the tongue and stays there... Malt regiment is such that the fruitiness is slightly more sweet than bitter, like they are sun-ripened fruits. Bitterness comes at the end and stays for a long time, battling the lingering sweet fruits... Awesome complex IPA, I only wish the alcohol percentage was a bit higher.

Appearance- Orange amber in color, hazy, and pours a foamy two finger head.

Aroma- Pine and grapefruit along with some bready malt sweetness.

Taste- Grapefruit and sweet caramel malt are noticeable at first, but in the middle and finish the bitterness and dryness intensifies with bread and pine flavors.

Feel- Medium bodied, easy drinking, medium carbonation, and dry in the finish.

Overall- A crisp easy drinking ipa that has great balance and flavor. Definitely a must try Texas ipa.

Hazy orange with respectable head. Smells citrusy with floral accents and some fruit aroma. Has some citrusy, floral, some peach, other fruity flavors, and pine hoppy flavors, but something just tasted very off. I think I may have gotten a bad can honestly. There was a date on the bottom and I am not sure if it was a made on date or best by date. Overall it was a pretty ok IPA, might try it again to see if it was the can that made it taste off.

Update: ended up trying another one over in Dallas the other day, and it there was a definite difference with regards to flavor. Had all the flavors previously described, but without those off flavors that previously turned me away from this beer. But with this said there seems to be some pretty big inconsistencies
