Smooth, easy drinking IPA reminiscent of a micro brew. Titillating at first with an open bouquet, followed by an innate lager style drinkability with tart Simcoe notes at the end.

[Original rating 2017-11-22] Bottle from the government store. Pours clear gold with a meduim white head. Aroma of citrus, tropical fruit, a little stone fruit. Taste of tropical fruit with a bitter hoppy finish. Tropical fruit in the aftertaste.

Poured rather watery orangish , with average hrad, light in color, a little lacing. Smelled of light orngr, heavy dose of mango, tropical. Basically the same taste, but with the mango being the lead. MF was thin, carbonated, bitter and finished with a lingering bite.
Highly refreshing, yet the backend was a tad too much for me. Not bad overall.

Very nice, tropical IPA. Easy to smell, drink, and enjoy with lots of lush flavor. Easy on the mouth with all of the tropical fruit flavor for those who do not like IPAs. Not the best but certainly a fine IPA.

Golden orange color, semi-transparent despite some haze. Healthy whiffs of tropical fruit and faint trace of pine. Bitterness of the hops comes through first, with mellow pineapple and grapefruit notes. Nice dry finish. Body on the thin side.

Disclaimer: I picked up a six-pack of this half-off because it was printed with a December 13 sell by. I liked the fruity yet crisp taste well enough and I don't think the thin body, which I didn't care for so much, can be ascribed to age. Overall it's a pretty good beer, but not as good as their West-Coast, which I love.

Appearance: Pours clear and golden colored with a one inch cap; decent retention and spots of lacing

Smell: Tropical and floral, with mango, pineapple and orange tones

Taste: Mango and pineapple flavors forward, with orange tones building; quite pithy and increasingly bitter, through the middle, with a grapefruit pith finish; dry, with an emphasis on the citrus

Mouthfeel: Medium body with moderate carbonation

Overall: Really enjoyable IPA here; the bottle was gone before I knew it

12 oz. single bottle from Trader Joe in Salem OR $1.79 Clear light gold coloured ale with a large impressive thick and creamy white head. Aromas of tropical fruits and some pine. Papaya, guava and some tangerine. Taste is like the aroma but even brighter and tastier..very tropical. Nice mouth feel..great carbonation and a good palate. Excellent IPA

L - Transparent orangey gold color with a small bubbly white head

S - Juicy Tropical Citrus Smell makes you wanna dive right in

T - Tropical and citrus fruit flavor with a light crisp bitter finish makes this extremely drinkable all day long

F - Nicely carbonated and light bodied make it easy to crush 3 or 4 of these with ease...Goes down like a session IPA and hits you like a real IPA

O - Awesome IPA on the lighter side that you could keep drinking, awesome west coast style IPA with lots of fruit flavor and not as bitter or piney as most west coast IPAs are.

best by 25 Nov 17. Consumed on 8/20 in shaker pint glass.

L-Slight hazy gold body with suspended particulate, pours a finger of white soapy head with nice lacing.
S-Orange peel. citrusy zest, grapefruit, grapefruit rind, hints of pine.
T-Same as taste plus suggestions of pineapple. Definitely a generously hoppy tropical ipa without any adjuncts. Just enough light biscuity malts to support the bitterness and zesty citrusy wave of flavor.
F- nice medium body, plenty of fizz and carbonation. Finishes medium dry with lingering tropical citrus notes.
O- Very enjoyable. Refreshing and true to west coast ipa style. However, not as tropical as the name would suggest.

L: Hazy golden orange with a small white head. Splotches of lacing.

S: Orange peel, white grapefruit flesh, lemon zest, pine needles, biscuit malt.

T: An abundance of citrus. The essence of orange and grapefruit, like the peel, pith, oils, and flesh all shredded and blended together, bitter and sweet simultaneously with a bright zestiness of pure citrus that never lets up. There's a touch of pine in the background that amplifies it. The malt backbone is biscuity, lightly bready and toasty, but mostly neutral. Finishes with a classic crispness with a touch of lingering citrus bitterness that tastes like actual orange peel, but not immensely bitter. Well rounded and very crisp.

F: Medium-bodied, smooth and well-rounded, moderate carbonation. Lightly sweet at first, but then crisp and lightly dry by the finish.

O: A really good West Coast style IPA. Beautifully citrusy and piney, yet crisp and refreshing.

This one is super drinkable and a perfect brew for porch sitting. Has a tropical sweetness that is not overdone and balances out nicely with the bitter hops finish. I will get this one again for sure!

Pours a hazy straw orange with a quickly dissipating 2 inch white foamy head. Smells of fresh hops(pine, lemon rind, citrus) Taste is refreshing with a really delicious malt back bone. They did not cheap out on ingredients!! Everything comes together really well.Feels refreshing, smooth, semi dry, crisp. This is one of my all time favorites of any style. Great in the winter, better in the summer. Awesome brew!

Orange color with a thin head with short retention.
Delicious tropical aroma with tons of mango, passion fruit, oranges, peaches and pineapple. It fades after a while.
Flavor with notes of pine, grapefruit citrusy, lemon, some resin, flowers and a bit of mango. Dry and bitter aftertaste. It feels lower than its 75 IBUs
Light body with appropriate carbonation of tiny bubbles.
Perfectly executed refreshing American IPA with tropical nose and lemon-pine mouth. Bitterness felt super clean and crisp with a fast finish. Worth trying. It has a profile that is not tiresome to frequently have it in your fridge.

The pour was a clear golden color with lots of visible carbonation. Has a solid yet rocky 3 fingers of a foamy white head that was slow to drop and left nice lacing down the glass.

Smell was not to complex with some tropical fruits, citrus notes and some dankness from the hops.

The taste was a nice hit of pinapple and some pithy orange, much like the skin of the orange. The taste was also acidic combined with the bitterness of a good IPA.

The mouth was light and had a crisp finish that was almost like a nice snap.

A nice IPA that was very good cold but seemed to get a bit heavy as it warmed. Some beers I like warmer than other but this one I would like served appropriately chilled.

I remember that I enjoyed the draft a lot, more than this glass poured out of a bottle. I adjusted my score accordingly. This is on the bitter side of IPA's, but it's not too much. The citrus flavor is heavy, and the feel is ideal. Everything about this beer is strong and bold, so if you like IPA's, this is a fun one to try.

I picked up a 6-pack of Soul Style from Trader Joes recently. Best by 07/26/2017. ABV is 6.5%. 75 IBU. Green Flash brews this IPA with Simcoe, Citra and Cascade hops.

Soul Style pours golden amber with moderate carbonation. 2 fingers of white foam. Some lacing. The smell is tropical fruits and citrus. The taste is a mélange of tropical fruits, citrus, floral and grass against a moderate malt backbone. With each sip, there's a slightly bitter citrus aftertaste that lingers nicely on the palate.

This is very good IPA -- fruity and juicy -- without neglecting the hop bitterness. Hats off to Green Flash Brewing... again. Soul Style IPA is a well-rounded, tropical-fruity IPA.

Tropical fruits, bitter oranges, grassy and melon hops. There's less dank in the taste than I got in the nose. Hop bite is perfectly complimented by the smooth citrus finish.

Nice look to this beer. Tropical fruit, pineapple and slight malt on the nose of this brew. Smells quite inviting. Nice flavor profile. I'm getting melon, sweet and bitter grapefruit and some pine. Maybe some other tropical fruits in there. Similar to other good IPA's yet distinct in its flavor. Coating mouthfeel with ample carbonation. Best I've tried tonight so my ratings may be a bit over exaggerated...

Poured from a freshness dated 12 oz. bottle: bright and clear, golden-orange with a sustained, foamy white head.

Very prominent and floral tropical fruit and citrus aromas.

There is a nice soft entry of bittersweet flavors as well as sweet marmalade flavors that is complimented by some subtle malt aftertaste and faint hop bitters on the palate. Somewhat light-bodied with a pleasant, rounded mouthfeel and refreshing carbonation; a hint of bitterness coats the palate.

Overall very quaffable and the 6.5 % ABV is well hidden. The ale is very fresh considering I am drinking it a couple of days after the "drink by" date on the label.

Reviewed from notes. Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into a Cigar City Brewing goblet.

A: Almost crystal clear, light gold. A good amount of visible carbonation and a one-finger white head fades quickly.

S: Melon, dank, and tropical hops. Some tangelo, papaya, and stone fruits in lesser amounts. Very light to almost absent white bread malts, and a touch of herbal hops under the dank character as well.

T: Tropical fruits, bitter navel oranges, grassy and melon hops. There's less dank than I got in the nose, but that's there too. A light cracker malt sweetness shows up briefly, then a citrus rind juicy bitterness in the hang. It's significantly bitter but not quite overdone.

M: A body that's on the light side of medium. Fairly low carbonation sensation and modest alcohol presence.

O: Good, but nothing overly exciting. I’d be more than happy to have another, but I doubt I’ll be purchasing another six-pack.

Green Flash isn't exactly right around the corner, yet they have an impeccable reputation in this area. I was pretty sure I had this before, but now I'm not sure. I am sure it's another great brew.

This thing is a pretty IPA right from the get go. Just slightly cloudy, yellow, and just a bit of fine fizz persists. The aroma is clean and hoppy and strong enough to not be ignored.

The taste is a mild, balance of AIPA goodness. All nice and hoppy with just a hint of something extra, from a beautiful mix of hops. It does not hit you over the head or underwhelm you. It really works.

This is an example of why this brewer is one you can go to with blind faith.

This IPA pours a pleasant orange color and has a strong scent of citrus. The hoppy bitterness of an IPA is offset by the strong orange and marmalade flavors present. Overall this is an incredibly enjoyable and refreshing beer, and I like it more every time I drink it. If you want fruity flavors in your brew, look no further.

Bottle from the Boise Co-op. Crisp, biting IPA. On the resinous side, slippery body with small soapy head. Hops dominate aroma and taste, sharp , crisp hop finish.
