green flash doing here what green flash does best, making delicious hoppy beer. this one is cool, more of a base ipa than some of their others, which are all just enormous, i could actually have several of these. tropical hop profile all in the finish, delicate grain base with a sweet tangy finish that reminds me of a sprinkle of dextrose on the tongue, which i wouldnt be surprised if they used it for alcohol to keep the beer light in feel, which it definitely is. smooth and creamy in feel, with a barley bitter hop complexion and so much radiant fruit to it, juicy and super fresh. so frothy looking and feeling that its almost nitro in that way, but its not. on tap at spruce, a real cool new place next to river north brewing. as awesome on the hops as any of the green flash ipas, but this is one i could drink all afternoon. stoked they put this one out, its unique and delicious. more please.

6.5% ABV per the label.

Pours a hazy honey orange with a foamy orange-tan head that settles to a partial film on top of the beer. Small patches of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of citrus fruit, citrus zest, and tropical fruit hop aromas. Taste is much the same with citrus zest, grapefruit juice, and tropical fruit flavors on the finish. There is a medium amount of hop bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp and dry mouthfeel. Overall, this is a good beer with really nice citrus and tropical hop qualities that make this one tasty and easy to drink.

A: The beer is clear amber yellow in color and has a light to moderate amount of carbonation. It poured with a finger and a half high off white head that gradually died down, leaving a thin layer of bubbles on the surface, a collar around the edge, and some lacing down the sides of the glass.
S: Moderate aromas of tropical fruits—mangos seem to stand out in particular—are present in the nose along with notes of grapefruit citrus and hints of pine.
T: The taste has flavors of grapefruit and melons along with a moderate to strong amount of bitterness. The finish is filled with bitter grapefruit and hints of pine.
M: It feels medium-bodied and quite crisp on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer has interesting aromas and flavors of tropical fruits and citrus and also delivers a nice bite in the mouthfeel.

16oz glass at Beer Revolution YEG.

This beer appears a clear, medium golden yellow hue, with one finger of weakly puffy, loosely foamy, and mainly frothy ecru head, which leaves some decent melting paint job lace around the glass as it genially recedes.

It smells of semi-sweet, kind of sugary tropical fruit - pineapple, kiwi, and papaya - grainy, bready pale malt, further domestic citrus notes, and leafy, piney, and slightly floral hops. The taste is sharp pine needle and herbal leaf off the start, with some doughy caramel malt, a blood orange, peach, and Texas red grapefruit fruitiness, and very little else.

The bubbles are adequate in their fizzy playfulness and more general support, the body a solid middleweight, and mostly smooth, with a minor creamy character. It finishes well off-dry, the now thoroughly muddled tropicals and lingering malt continuing to deal with that perky pine forest acridity.

Yeah, this is fruity, in a generally foreign island vein, but on draft, at least, the pine and other sundry green essences rule the day. Maybe that's a tropical thing too, but methinks that wasn't the intent here. At any rate, good overall, just not exactly as promised.

In the quest for more citrus and tropical flavor in IPA, the Green Flash brewers embark on a challenge and then answer with the grassy and sharp Simcoe hop variety and also the bright orange character of Citra and the classic grapefruit flavor from Cascade. As these flavors layer upon each other, a rounded, smooth and captivating flavor is built.

Soul Style's modestly hazed goldenrod appearance shows little indication to the hops within. But its creamy and cottony head pops on the nose and seduces the senses with the promise of branch ripened citrus, fragrant herbal perfume and honey-dipped tropical fruit. Its supple and sweet upstart greets the palate momentarily with a thinness of honey, caramel and a light toasty nuttiness.

And as the malts begin to dissolve on the tongue, the hops slowly take command- starting juicy, racy and vibrant with tangerine, freshly zested orange, red grapefruit, mango, apricot, passionfruit and pineapple. Yet as the ale ventures across the palate, the taste develops into bitter pithiness of white grapefruit, dried orange peel, fresh grass clippings and lemon leaf.

As the ale exits the palate, it does so taking its medium body with it, leaving behind a thin veil of graham cracker and citrus but with bold overtones of resinous, piney hops that linger sturdily in aftertaste. Soul Style is a multi-dimensional IPA that uses the best hops from the past few generations of IPA for a classic, but updated flavor spread -Masterfully done!

Pours a clear gold with a one finger head that dissipates slowly to layer of fine bubbles that lace the glass nicely. Aroma of pine resin and citrus...tastes as smells...very smooth and refreshing mouthfeel. Really excellent.

12 ounce bottle into tulip glass, best before 12/17/2015. Pours fairly crystal clear golden orange color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense off white head with good retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of grapefruit, tangerine, mango, pineapple, peach, lemon zest, orange peel, pine, light caramel, toasted bread, and floral/grassy earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of citrus/tropical/piney hops and light-moderate bready malt notes; with good strength. Taste of big grapefruit, tangerine, mango, pineapple, peach, lemon zest, orange peel, pine, light caramel, toasted bread, and floral/grassy earthiness. Good amount of pine/citrus rind bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, mango, pineapple, peach, lemon/orange peel, pine, light caramel, toasted bread, and floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/tropical/piney hops and light-moderate bready malt flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately resinous/sticky, and slightly creamy/bready mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very nice IPA. All around good robustness, complexity, and balance of citrus/tropical/piney hops and light-moderate bready malt flavors; and very smooth and easy to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

Appearance: Pours clear and golden colored with a one inch cap; decent retention and spots of lacing

Smell: Tropical and floral, with mango, pineapple and orange tones

Taste: Mango and pineapple flavors forward, with orange tones building; quite pithy and increasingly bitter, through the middle, with a grapefruit pith finish; dry, with an emphasis on the citrus

Mouthfeel: Medium body with moderate carbonation

Overall: Really enjoyable IPA here; the bottle was gone before I knew it

It tastes like a session IPA, but doesn't drink like one.

Bitter and earthy. Piney and resiny. West coast style. Ends with an odd aftertaste. Very green.

Alright, but not impressed.
