Bottle from the coop. Lots of grapefruit in the aroma, orange gold body with slight wispy head. Citrus hops also dominate the taste, not much of a finish, but all around great session ale.

Has a good golden appearance with plenty of clarity and a 1/2" white head on the top, small bubbles. Mosaics aren't super pungent, they're existent for sure. Citrus funk, oranges left in a trunk.

Light pale malts, more hops, on the strong end of session stuff, the malt seems heavier than a session malt bill. But not overly, just on the strong side of average. Fractional amount of caramel, the hops do impart bitterness but not too much. Like I said, its a stronger than you'd think beer for the words session from the color, hopping and malt alone.

Hazy straw gold color with a medium size white head. Good retention and plenty of lacing on the glass. Moderate aroma of citrus hops. Aroma and flavor pick up as the beer warms. Flavor is pretty robust for a 4.5 abv beer. Nice amount of bitterness and a bit of piney flavor as well as citrus hops. Mouthfeel is light and crisp with a good amount of bitterness. A very tasty session beer.

L: Golden and opaque with some great looking head. Fairly bubbly.

S: Light smelling with delightful hops. Doesn't smell overly bitter or hoppy. A bit floral and citric too.

T: Smooth up front with some floral tones. The tail end is where the hops jump out at you, but its not crazy bitter. They're very citric hops, but its very good. The aftertaste is something special too, again the floral taste. Kind of unusual for an IPA, but I'm not familiar with session IPAs.

F: Very light body and smooth for an IPA. Great drinkability. Not often you find an IPA you can swig, but if you want one this is it.

O: Not too shabby. Working on my IPA game and this one was very good. Stands out for its low ABV and good drinkability.

The Mosaic Session is decEnt....not nearly as good as revolution mosaic hero. The beer poured a clear copper with thin white head that is leaving a lace. The scent is floral. The taste is clean with potpourri. The Mouthfeel is lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall it's ok.

Appearance: Bubble show and all, the beer makes a pretty nice entrance, pouring clear and amber beneath a buoyant head of foam; excellent stickage with clumps of lacing clinging

Smell: Juicy Mosaic hops bring tropical fruit and berry tones

Taste: All about the hops, with the malt providing a blank canvas; juicy, at first, with mango, pineapple, tangerine, strawberry and cantaloupe flavors; the bitterness builds through the finish and is a bit too assertive in the aftertaste relative to the fruit flavors

Mouthfeel: Light to medium body with moderate carbonation

Overall: Just outside of the "Best By" date, the hops on this beer still bring bright and juicy flavors; pretty darn tasty

Poured from a bottle. Clear gold with a white head. Aromas are not huge, pear and some more subtle tropical notes. Pretty light body with noticeable carbonation. Taste starts a little malty with apple and grapefruit flavors and finishes very bitter. The bitterness accompanies the flavors and is a little too overpowering. The bitterness also hangs around for quite a while.

another solid low abv session ale from green flash. along with citra session, they are showing a lot of promise in this subsection of the American ipa. this has almost a fruit punch quality to the hop profile. very tasty.

Just not feeling this one. I love mosaic hops but I do not get any of the mosaic fruitiness in this beer. No tropical smell. I would say a bit of onion smell instead. There is a decent bitterness and bite especially for a session.

Had on tap at Walrus + Carpenter in Black Rock, CT. Really awesome beer here and a great display of the Mosaic hop varietal. Not overly hopped and getting more balanced, but the malt backbone lends its sweetness to the beer, which brings out the juicy mosaic flavors even more. Finishes nice and has a medium body. Tasty overall and worth trying when fresh to get an idea of how these hops can work.

Bomber > SA Sensory Pint

A - Crystal clear gold with one finger of foamy white head, little lacing
S - Some bread, a little hint of spice, grape, some pear, pineapple.
T - Bready malt base with a little citrus, grape, pineapple, pine, and finishes with a bitter peppery bite
M - Overly bitter for a session
O - Too much bite for me to enjoy more than a bomber of this. Speaking of which, why is a session ale in a bomber to begin with?

22oz bottle, nice to see the big Yankee craft producers grasping at this current beer trend.

This beer pours a clear, bright medium golden yellow hue, with two fingers of puffy, loosely foamy, and somewhat bubbly chalky white head, which leaves some bleeding paint swath lace around the glass as it slowly fades away.

It smells of dank pine resin, bitter white grapefruit and orange rind, grainy pale and caramel malt, a flinty edginess, and further earthy, herbal, and grassy hops. The taste is more bitter and musty (ok, dank) pine needles, muddled citrus peel, hard water metal and mineral essences, a gritty pale graininess, some ethereal caramel sweetness, and a growing herbal and leafy bitterness, one not at all surprising in its lack of associated tincture heat.

The bubbles are rather pleasant in their duly supportive and kind of playfully frothy manner, the body a solid middleweight for this particular sub-style, and generally smooth, with a tiny airy creaminess poking out its nose after a spell. It finishes off-dry, the malt doing well to keep its ducks in a row, while that heady (it is Green Flash, so take your own meaning from that) hoppiness stays true and fair.

One of the better, nay, probably the best ISA that I've yet come across. The thing is, if you weren't familiar with Green Flash's 'standard' IPAs, then this would seem like a pretty decent regular IPA. That's just it - relativity is a bitch, man, but it's my bitch right now, as I enjoy the rest of this slope-shouldered bomber.

A: This poured a clear light gold with a little white head.
S: It smelled like strong grapefruit and dank herbal hops, with some green papaya and apricot.
T: It tasted like lemon zest and grapefruit, with some dank herbal hops and some resin. It had a clean, lasting bitter aftertaste.
M: It was watery with some carbonation. Fairly light body.
D: This was one of the most flavorful session IPAs I've had. The scent was awesome, but the taste was just straight bitter. The body was fitting, with a smooth finish, so it was easy to drink. Great take on this style.

Pours a clear gold, fluffy white head; settles to a quarter inch, trails rings of wispy lace down the glass. Smell: lightly spicy and grassy with a note of dried mango. Taste: grassy, grapefruit, notes of berry skin and melon. It's OK.

22 ounce bottle into pint glass; no bottle dating, but is a recent release. Pours crystal clear deep golden yellow color with a 2 finger dense and fluffy off white head with good retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big pineapple, tangerine, peach, mango, melon, passion fruit, berry, orange peel, pine, light honey, bread, and floral/grassy earthiness. Damn nice aromas with good balance and complexity of bright citrus/tropical hops and light-moderate pale malt notes; with good strength. Taste of big pineapple, tangerine, peach, mango, melon, passion fruit, berry, orange peel, pine, light honey, bread, and floral/grassy earthiness. Good amount of pine/citrus rind bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of pineapple, tangerine, peach, mango, melon, passion fruit, orange peel, pine, light honey, bread, and floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Damn nice complexity and robustness of bright citrus/tropical/piney hops and light-moderate pale malt flavors; with a crisp malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and light-medium bodied; with a very smooth, crisp, and resinous/sticky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with zero warming present after the finish as expected of 4.5%. Overall this is a damn nice session IPA. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of bright citrus/tropical/piney hops and light-moderate pale malt flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

Draft. Pours a light yellow orange like urine after a hard night of drinking resulting in some dehydration. Nice full finger of head. Little to no lacing throughout drink. Smell wet hops and malts with fruit. Taste is wet hops but not overly bitter. Definite fruit like grapefruit, watermelon and other melon. Fruit upfront hops on the back end. Clean and easy to drink. 4.5% all day ipa. Tasty.

Poured from 12oz bottle into a dimpled mug.

Appearance: light orange hue with a little bit of haze and a thin finger of ivory foam. Not bad.

Smell: bright hop aroma; the character is grassy, green and just a little bit fruity. It really appeals to me.

Taste: earthy, grassy hops atop a mildly sweet malt base. Not quite as enticing as the aroma, but still very nice.

Mouthfeel: medium body with a good level of carbonation and creaminess, especially for the style.

Overall: not a bad session IPA at all. It is a little bit raspy in the bitterness department to be super-quaffable, but still it's a good example of the style.

5/23/15 Home

Pours copper yellowish with ok head but decent retention.

Smell of the mosaic is present but not over powering. Some pine and maybe a little tropical fruit but all very subtle.

The taste is just ok. Mild mosaic hops and a little citrus but nothing really impresses or stands out.

The feel is harsh. The bitter builds and builds to the point it really loses any quality that was decent from the start.

Overall, rather disappointed. Love the mosaic hop taste and green flash is pretty good but this one is a bit of a dog. The score is probably generous.

Drank from a growler....

Nice session brew... The Mosaic hops are very subtle in this... Bitter on the finish but that's really about it. I pounded this growler pretty fast with some chicken wings coated in a homemade Sriracha sauce and it fit the bill.. Not sure I would sit and just drink this for the sheer pleasure of it though...

From growler w/ a couple of taster glasses
Noted on 12/23/2014

A: Brightly burnished goldenrod hue with some finely conditioned clarity through the body. Smallish paper white frothy head forms over top with a few moments of stay to it. Light dotting and tiny streaks of lace noted.

S: Bready malt up front with a very subdued hop presence. I get some faint spice and orange/grapefruit citrus with just a touch of herbal greens there. Seems very light on the Mosaics which has me kind of disappointed.

T: Flavor doesn’t do much to make up for the nose unfortunately. The hops are certainly understated here. Lots of bready pale malts coming through with a dry cracker likeness. There is a light bitter tingle to it and the flavors while faint are mostly comprised of citrus fruits and spiced herbs. Perhaps a dash of tropical fruit and melon there. Yes this is still tasty and quite sessionable but way too shy with the Mosaics. A bit of a letdown for me after having the Citra Sessions.

M: Very light to lightly moderate. Crisp and lively on the palate with some spritzy carbonation. Light bitterness moving into a very dry and crisp finish. Pretty clean here with no much residual linger.

D: A nice session with no real flaws and good drinkability but that is by design right. Just way too conservative with the hops for me. Really lacking that pizzazz Mosaics can deliver and nowhere near the strength of the Citra Sessions which seems like an odd move to me. I can recommend several other sessions that one can go-to over this.

22 Oz Brown Bottle
"Best By" Date of August 19th, 2015
Reviewed on May 7th, 2015
Served in an IPA Glass

Poured a golden body capped off by a bubbly white head, roughly half of an inch deep. The head quickly collapsed and left a nice amount of soapy lacing.

Citric hops, mainly grapefruit, dominated the nose. Sweet notes of mango and melon lived under the sharper layer of hops. Very slight presence of bread.

Citric notes hit the tongue first. Much like the nose, grapefruit was showcased in the hops. Sweeter notes of orange and tropical fruit attempted to cut through the dense layer of citrus. Finished dry with earthy hops. Moderate, nearing the full side of the carbonation spectrum. I was initially turned off by the high carbonation but it reduced as the beer settled. Medium/light bodied.

Big hop flavor for a session beer. Great pick up for a summer afternoon.

A: Brilliant gold, ½” white foam cap, very fine bubbles, reduces to a thick, lacy film.
S: Medium high hop aromas with herbal, fruity, spice, melon, tropical fruit.
T: A big fruit bomb palate with rich melon flavors followed up by a balancing, grainy astringency on the finish. Stuffed with hop flavor and just the right amount of balancing hop bitterness. Malt character and hop bitterness are moderate.
F: Big creamy body, medium body, medium carbonation.
O: This is a beer with moderate alcohol that really features hop flavors.
