Notes: Say Aloha to Treasure Chest 2015, an exotic pink IPA brewed with grapefruit, prickly pear juice and hibiscus flowers. Erupting with fruit-forward complexity, 100% Mosaic hops present aromas of heady citrus and refined stone fruit. The pleasantly bitter flavors of the hops are enhanced by the addition of fresh grapefruit juice. Offering balance to offset the bold citrus notes, prickly pear juice imparts a peppery-sweet kick in the finish. Tropical Hibiscus flowers give this beer a naturally pink hue, a nod to the official color of the Treasure Chest mission. 5.7% ABV | 65 IBU

Poured from a bomber into a Dogfish Head tulip

L: Nearly clear dull golden pour. 2 fingers of white head. Solid lacing.

S: Grapefruit... floral and hoppy.

T/F: Medium malt presence followed by a whole lot of grapefruit/citrus. Very fruit forward... some floral notes and tartness from the hibiscus as well. Mild spice... can't say I noticed the prickly pear. Fairly well rounded/balanced. Good carbonation. Finish is more grapefruit.

O: Fairly 1-dimensional but not bad at all if you like citrus-forward IPA's/grapefruit. Easy to drink... Green Flash never puts out a bad beer.

22oz bottle with an imperial nonic style glass
Had this on 11/11/15

Pours a cloudy golden body with a dense white creamy head that settles to a craggy lid on top of the beer. Not really the pink as advertised but with a soft orangish hue to it. Lots of sticky rings of lace line my glass on the drink down. The aroma is very floral and perfumey with some candied citrus accents like tangerine grapefruit and a touch of herbal pine. There are some sugary malts wafting albeit fairly indiscernible and a bit of that stone fruit-pear juice presence. Taste provides much of that sweet nectary prickly pear juice and lots of flowery notes. The mosaics offer a nice touch of grapefruit and piney herbal dank flavors on the finish but I just wish it was a bit more pronounced. There is a lower amount of actual hop bitter bite to this with some well masked alcohol. Again malt is just some minimal residual honey like sweetness here. Nice and spritzy with a slightly crisp mouthfeel and some light drying in the finish. I like that the prickly pear and floral qualities are well presented here and overall is balanced with the base beer.

Really great cause – kinda meh beer. Cool concept but just didn’t come together as nicely as I would have preferred.

Bottle from Brewers Haven. Mildly haxy golden pour with big frothy head. Not big on the grapefruit in aroma, but adds a lot of dryness to the feel. Aroma is mild citrus and some cooked grains. Taste had a sharp bite from both the hops and citrus, but tails off quickly. Juicy and dry.

On tap at Rattle n Hum West.
Huge head, clear amber gold beer.
Smells heavily of sweet grapefruit.
Huh. I would not have guessed that was Mosaic until maybe the very end, where it gets tropical+earthy. Forefront is sorta C-hop-ish with fruity top notes. If there is prickly pear or hibiscus, I don't taste it, save mayhap as a lingering sweetness.
Good but not great. Would have again, wouldn't buy.

Paid about 7 bucks for this on closeout. Pours rather hazy amber brown whatever pink people must see must be from the label. Smell is quite good smooth grapefruit juice, some pear and bittering hops. Taste is by far one of the best grapefruit IPA's I ever drank with so much raw juice and the cactus juice "prickly pear" rounds out the bitterness making it exceptional. If this was added to the regular lineup with benefits for charity (slight markup for 12oz bottles) I would buy it all the time!

I wouldn't say this beer pours pink but it does have that kind pinkish colored hue to it,a thinner but well retained white head atop.Big sharp grapefruit aromas along with a bit of floral notes, big time grapefruit though.Starts out with a big sharp splash of the grapefruit followed by some orange and tangerine flavors,a big sugary finish gets bigger as I drink more.a little thinner in the back end but a good quaffer on a real warm day here in NC.

Great IPA if your in the mood for something Different.
Great color unusual with the slight pink hue, must be the prickleberry. The nose of the beer is great, just to me it didn't show up so much with the taste. The malt sweetness is there pick up slight hop bitterness. The mouthful is great and they did an excellent job with the smoothness of this beer, hides the alcohol content. Good beer definitely worth a try, it's like taking a little tropical vacation!!!

Good AIPA. The addition of grapefruit juice to the citrusy hops gives the beer plenty of bitterness. Pours a hazy orange color with a small, fast-fading head and some lacing. Good strong aroma of citrus (the grapefruit is noticeable). Flavor is very good citrus, bitterness..a winning combination, Mouthfeel is crisp and bitter, alcohol presence is not a factor. Good West Coast style AIPA from a West Coast brewery that will soon have a Virginia Beach addition!!! Fresh hoppy Green Flash Awesome. beers in Hampton Roads!!!!!

Clear straw colored pour with a small white head. Big tropical and citrus aroma. Taste is an interesting mix of prickly pear and hibuscus upfront backed by a strong grapefruit bitterness. Prickly pear taste becomes more pronounced as the beer warms. Finishes with a nicely balanced but slightly bitter taste that has flavors of both prickly pear and grapefruit.

Murky orange with a slight pink hue, small amount of lace and good carbonation. Smells fruity, and floral; guava, papaya, pine and prickly pear tea. Sweet and malty up front; a bit tangy and juicy. Getting lots of fruity goodness here on the tongue; pineapple, papaya, pear, grapefruit, guava, along with a slight earthiness, grassiness and finished with light notes of the hibiscus. A little bit of citrus and of course a big wave of pine juiciness from the mosaic hop base.

Slick but smooth, semi dry and bitter but not bad at all. Out of the ordinary and definitely worth trying.

Smell is tropical fruit - hints of guava and passionfruit, some tartness (almost like a gose), and light citrus.

Taste is heavy on the grapefruit with other citrus notes and a little bit of a tropical fruit medley, although it's fairly subdued compared to other fruit-forward/juicy IPAs.

Overall, a nice take on tropical fruit IPAs that's a little more subdued.

Tasted in a Spiegelau IPA glass from a 1 pt 6 oz bottle on December 25, 2015. Best by 02 Apr 16. Look is hazy orange pink blend with a medium head and moderate lacing. Smell is citrus, stone fruit, hibiscus and light caramel malt aromas. Taste is grapefruit, stone fruit, pear, pepper and lightly roasted malt flavors. Feel is medium to light in body with a crisp finish.

Poured from a 22oz bottle, with a best by April's fresh. Purchased this in support of the cause, but do enjoy the Green Flash IPA's.

A) pours a cloudy amber hue, with about a one finger head.

S) nice, subtle citrus and pine. Picking up a bit of the hibiscus scent.

T) grapefruit comes through, fruity, mosaic hop flavors.

M) smooth, with fairly heavy carbonation. Maybe a bit too much for my liking.

Overall, an easy drinking IPA. I like the citrus flavor, but wish it leaned a bit more towards the Grapefruit Sculpin in its strength.

The Treasure Chest was a decent beer. I was a little hesitant to try it as it says grape juice was added.....The beer poured a hazy orange with white head that left a spotty lace. The scent carried grapefruit. The taste was more balanced than the scent suggested. Yes Grapefruit was present but it was easy drinking. The mouthfeel was lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall....certainly worth a try.

Hazy apricot orange with a one finger white head that left a curtain of lacing.
Honey grapefruit on the nose.
Lovely floral flavor. Hint of pine.
Well carbonated. Medium mouthfeel. A slight peppery finish.
An interesting combination of aroma and flavor. A lovely treasure.

Bomber > Tulip glass

A - Hazy orange with a two finger soapy head, medium lacing.
S - Pine, grapefruit, orange, pear, papaya, fruit salad kinda mix, some floral notes, cracker malt
T - A little sweeter, but not in the way of malt, fruit juice kinda sweet, pear and grape, slightly sweet caramel, a touch of pine, and good floral notes.
M - A bit chewy but goes down easy.
O - Eh, nothing special, a little too much with the fruits I think

Bomber. Pours hazy amber, thick white head, fades to glob leaving coating lace. Mild dark fruit aroma, pear and plum. Citrusy grapefruit taste with caramel backbone. Semi dry finish with lingering floral notes, lots of flavors in this one. Overall another solid brew by Green Flash, worth a try.

L: Poured from a bottle to a pint glass. Had a copper color and a hazy texture. There was an inch of foamy head that lasted a good amount of time. Excellent lacing.

S: An OK aroma of citrus, hops, malt, and other fruits.

T: Tasted of light citrus notes, pear, malt, bitter hops in the finish, and a grassy quality. A pretty good, but unbalanced flavor. The grassiness is a little off-putting and the hops overly harsh, but the fruit is well done.

F: A well carbonated beer with a somewhat bitter finish. Medium-bodied.

O: This beer has some very good qualities, but is uneven. Worth a look, though.

pours a hazy orange-amber with a medium head. nose; bright citrus hops, fresh orange pulp & flower scents. taste; big floral mosaic hops, citrus-sweet fruit (grapefruit & lime), citrus rind, pear, pineapple and a perfectly balanced bready malt core. aftertaste is the same with some slight soapy herbal notes (hibiscus?) and semi-dry. medium carbonation and mouthfeel. a tooty-fruity floral ipa from green flash that hits all the right notes for me!

Green flash is a hit and miss brewery for me, but after having this beer, I'm leaning more toward the hit side. Pours a beautiful pink, golden hue with a one finger head that dissipates quickly. I get a lot of sweetness blended with flowery hops on the nose. They did an excellent job of blending the grapefruit with the hops and pear juice. Doesn't lean to far to the tart or sweet side. A very pleasant and different IPA. I recommend.

Pours a clear golden orange color with a tight, white head that leaves chunks of lacing.

Smells of bright citrus and some flowery notes.

Tastes of the bright fruity notes layered over a solid malt base and the floral notes. Bright fruits lead off with notes of grapefruit, pear, and some apricot as well. This gives way to a caramel, syrupy sweetness along with some toasted bread. Floral notes and hop bitterness come next. Finishes with a slight lingering sweetness.

Mouthfeel is medium with a smooth amount of carbonation.

Overall, this is a tasty IPA and definitely worth a try.

22 ounce bottle into pint glass, best before 3/14/2016. Pours slightly hazy golden orange color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense and fluffy off white head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a good amount of streaming carbonation retaining the head. Aromas of big grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, pear, mango, melon, passion fruit, berry, lemon zest, orange peel, pine, light honey, bread, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great complexity and balance of bright citrus/tropical/piney hops, fruit juice/hibiscus, and light-moderate pale malt notes; with great strength. Taste of huge grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, peach, pear, mango, melon, passion fruit, berry, lemon zest, orange peel, pine, light honey, bread, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Good amount of pine/grassy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, peach, pineapple, mango, melon, lemon/orange peel, pine, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Fantastic complexity, robustness, and balance of bright citrus/tropical/piney hops, fruit juice/hibiscus, and light-moderate pale malt flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth and moderately crisp/sticky mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is an awesome IPA. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of bright citrus/tropical/piney hops, fruit juice/hibiscus, and light-moderate pale malt flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A highly enjoyable offering.

Yet another beer that does not look or taste like what the bottle claims. It is not pink. Not even close, being instead an normal IPA amber brown. That being said, it's not a bad session IPA.
