Say Aloha to Treasure Chest 2015, an exotic pink IPA brewed with grapefruit, prickly pear juice and hibiscus flowers. Erupting with fruit-forward complexity, 100% Mosaic hops present aromas of heady citrus and refined stone fruit. The pleasantly bitter flavors of the hops are enhanced by the addition of fresh grapefruit juice. Offering balance to offset the bold citrus notes, prickly pear juice imparts a peppery-sweet kick in the finish. Tropical Hibiscus flowers give this beer a naturally pink hue, a nod to the official color of the Treasure Chest mission. 5.7% ABV | 65 IBU

Poured from a bomber into a Dogfish Head tulip
L: Nearly clear dull golden pour. 2 fingers of white head. Solid lacing.
S: Grapefruit... floral and hoppy.
T/F: Medium malt presence followed by a whole lot of grapefruit/citrus. Very fruit forward... some floral notes and tartness from the hibiscus as well. Mild spice... can't say I noticed the prickly pear. Fairly well rounded/balanced. Good carbonation. Finish is more grapefruit.
O: Fairly 1-dimensional but not bad at all if you like citrus-forward IPA's/grapefruit. Easy to drink... Green Flash never puts out a bad beer.

22oz bottle with an imperial nonic style glass
Had this on 11/11/15
Pours a cloudy golden body with a dense white creamy head that settles to a craggy lid on top of the beer. Not really the pink as advertised but with a soft orangish hue to it. Lots of sticky rings of lace line my glass on the drink down. The aroma is very floral and perfumey with some candied citrus accents like tangerine grapefruit and a touch of herbal pine. There are some sugary malts wafting albeit fairly indiscernible and a bit of that stone fruit-pear juice presence. Taste provides much of that sweet nectary prickly pear juice and lots of flowery notes. The mosaics offer a nice touch of grapefruit and piney herbal dank flavors on the finish but I just wish it was a bit more pronounced. There is a lower amount of actual hop bitter bite to this with some well masked alcohol. Again malt is just some minimal residual honey like sweetness here. Nice and spritzy with a slightly crisp mouthfeel and some light drying in the finish. I like that the prickly pear and floral qualities are well presented here and overall is balanced with the base beer.
Really great cause – kinda meh beer. Cool concept but just didn’t come together as nicely as I would have preferred.

Bottle from Brewers Haven. Mildly haxy golden pour with big frothy head. Not big on the grapefruit in aroma, but adds a lot of dryness to the feel. Aroma is mild citrus and some cooked grains. Taste had a sharp bite from both the hops and citrus, but tails off quickly. Juicy and dry.

On tap at Rattle n Hum West.
4/4/3.75/3.5/3.5
Huge head, clear amber gold beer.
Smells heavily of sweet grapefruit.
Huh. I would not have guessed that was Mosaic until maybe the very end, where it gets tropical+earthy. Forefront is sorta C-hop-ish with fruity top notes. If there is prickly pear or hibiscus, I don't taste it, save mayhap as a lingering sweetness.
Good but not great. Would have again, wouldn't buy.
