Notes / Commercial Description:
As craft beer pioneers, we embarked on an expedition to brew the benchmark West Coast IPA. We ventured into the unknown and struck gold, discovering a tantalizing menagerie of hops. Simcoe for tropical and grapefruit zest, Columbus for hop pungency, Centennial for pine notes, Citra for citrus zest and Cascade for floral aroma are layered throughout the brewing process. West Coast IPA® exemplifies the Green Flash spirit of adventure and discovery.

Pours a slightly cloudy golden orange with a beautiful bone white 2 finger head that leaves a gorgeous frosty lacing.

Intense hop explosion. Big notes of grapefruit and tangerine, followed by pine and floral aromas. Slight toasted cracker... but this one is all about the hops.

Drinks as it smells. Small toasty cracker/caramel with a bombardment of hops. Big and juicy grapefruit and tangerine up front. Sharp piney in the finish. As the oils build, there is a great spicy resinous piney floral taste that lingers on the palette. Big and bitter, this one is loaded with hops. Great combination of Simcoe, Colombus, Cascade, and Centennial.

Towards the end of the glass, mouth is coated with a film of luscious bitter hop oils. mmmm... Sticky, sharp and dry. Medium bodied. Nicely carbonated.

Awesomely hoppy West Coast IPA. For hopheads only. Big bitter, sticky, oily, juicy, pungent, resinous brew. Love it!

Thanks to Weibull for sending this extra in trade!

Pours a hazy copper, foggy with tiny sediment. Rapid streams of carbonation, feeding a dense, creamy head of foam. Arcs of lacing form too, adding to it's visual appeal.

Aroma takes awhile to surface, even at a cool temperature, there's just the barest hint of earthy hops. edit: subsequent bottles have delivered a cannabis hop blast!

Deep earthy herbal hop notes, leafy. Very vivid flavor, hop vegetation set against a blanket of malty toffee, striking a nice balance. A resiny bitterness lingers long into the finish. Body is more substantial than your average IPA. Fairly low carbonation with a creamy feel.

Mmm, great stuff! I could see this as a fridge staple in the summer.

Aroma:  Aggressive citrus and pine aroma.  Grapefruit predominates.

Appearance:  Amber orange color.  Two finger head with nice lacing.

Flavor:  Aggressive in your face grapefruit and pine bitterness that lingers.  There is some malt sweetness, but each sip finishes very dry and very bitter.

Mouthfeel:   Medium body with good carbonation.

Overall:  This beer gets in your face from the first sip.  One of the more aggressive West Coast IPAs on the market.  Major hop heads will not be disappointed.  For everyone else, palette fatigue is a serious concern.  Recommended.
