Notes / Commercial Description:
As craft beer pioneers, we embarked on an expedition to brew the benchmark West Coast IPA. We ventured into the unknown and struck gold, discovering a tantalizing menagerie of hops. Simcoe for tropical and grapefruit zest, Columbus for hop pungency, Centennial for pine notes, Citra for citrus zest and Cascade for floral aroma are layered throughout the brewing process. West Coast IPA® exemplifies the Green Flash spirit of adventure and discovery.

Pours a deep orangy amber which is slightly cloudy. The head is slightly off white looking pretty chunky and sticking well so far as it slowly comes down.

The smell is fruity hops, dripping wet with grapfruit citrus, pineapple and floral hop aromas dominate. I can't wait to taste this thing.

Sweet grapefruit flavors are followed by some pine and bitterness. The first sip is quite bitter in the aftertaste. Sip number two is the same grapefruit pith flavors dominate th finish. Hophead delight. Hop oils pretty much coat the tongue. As it warms either my taste buds are acclamated to the bitterness or the sweetness balances it a bit more. Well, balance isn't really what happens, it just maybe brings it down a notch. The hops never give way.

Appearance note: solid rings of lace down the glas.

Mouthfeel was medium. For 7% it was a bit lighter than expected. Carbonation was fine.

Drinkability. Yes. Bitterness could wear on me after a while. One was enough hops for me.

A great IPA. For a single IPA, I believe this had more bitterness than any I am used to. The pineapple grapfruit flavors were still amaing through. Overall a great IPA.

I would love this with anything spicy.

Crystal clear light amber body. Large frothy head trails the beer all the way down.

Resin, pine, grassy hopiness bursts out of this beer. A little lighter on the citrus than I had expected, but its there.

Lemon hits right away resin and pine follow. Toasty biscuity malt presence keeps the bitterness at bay.

Nice amount of carbonation to lift the bitterness. A nice IPA, but I have been more impressed by some of their other offerings.

S - Full of delicious hops, pine and citrus

T - Big bold flavor full of hops and grapefruit notes, with a piney aftertaste that is quite nice

M - Really creamy, coats the mouth, medium in body

One of my favorites from the bottle, let's see how it compares on tap.

A: Beaming golden orange, sheep's wool head, nice lacing coating half the glass.

S: Zesty, spicy, citrus hops, grapefruit, pine cones, mainly hop forward with a spike of alcohol.

T: It's like squeezing a lemon on top of a christmas tree, but with the awesomeness of Festivus, and taking a shot of honey a minute after, the hops stick around that long. As it warms up, the booze comes out a bit, and it drinks like grapefruit nectar.

M: Medium body, for sure; nice crispness, smooth.

O/D: It's an enamel scrapper. Great in a bottle, fantastic on tap. I was lucky to experience it.
