Notes / Commercial Description:
As craft beer pioneers, we embarked on an expedition to brew the benchmark West Coast IPA. We ventured into the unknown and struck gold, discovering a tantalizing menagerie of hops. Simcoe for tropical and grapefruit zest, Columbus for hop pungency, Centennial for pine notes, Citra for citrus zest and Cascade for floral aroma are layered throughout the brewing process. West Coast IPA® exemplifies the Green Flash spirit of adventure and discovery.

A: golden straw. the color is quite beautiful. decent lacing.

S: summer peach and dank grapefruit resinous and hoppiness. smells like it tastes.

T: when i first sampled this brew i was head over heels. not too bitter but a piney, floral confluence. it finishes quite well and has you begging for more.

M: strong carbobation and not oily at all. def taste/feel the alcohol but not in a bad way.

O: a def go to. im glad they,ve expanded their offerings at a reasonable price! love this brew!

Poured from a bottle with a "Bottle On" date of 9/13; into a tulip.
Appearance - slightly darker than most IPA's, orange tinted brew, with a thick foamy head. A curtain of lacing!
Smell - this one is on point, ranking right along with other top notch IPA's! Nice blend of citrus and floral hops!
Taste - leaves a bit to be desired, after an impressive nose. This is easy drinking though, at 7.3 ABV, I like it!
Feel - hop grenade! My mouth is awake now!
Overall - really like this beer, it's a touch pricey though.

12oz bottle poured into a globe. This bottle is about a month from going out of code.

A: Deep red-orange color. Chill hazed. Creamy off-white head retains well at a half inch. Lacing coats the glass in small dots.

S: Sugary ruby red grapefruit, pine, blood orange. Hop spiciness. Smells like bitterness will be ample. Underlying malt scents of caramel ans toffee.

T: Clamping bitterness from the beginning. Hops are very spicy and peppery. Ruby red grapefruit and pine abound. Lighter tropical notes of blood orange and star fruit beneath. Strong malt backbone of caramel, toffee, and even a touch of crust comes through, though the bitterness is firmly dominant. Spicy alcohol on the back end. Hops start to go earthy at the end with tastes of wet leaves and peppery spice. Finishes with a long, clamping grapefruit bitterness.

M: Medium bodied. Strong malt backbone gives it a firm, slightly weighted, and creamy texture. Ample prickling carbonation.

O: Extremely bitter, so its reputation is certainly deserved in that regard. Like many, this beer still benefits from extreme freshness, and even though it was still in code, it felt as though it lost an edge. When within three months of bottling, this is one of the best readily available west coast style IPAs in my market.
