Notes / Commercial Description:
As craft beer pioneers, we embarked on an expedition to brew the benchmark West Coast IPA. We ventured into the unknown and struck gold, discovering a tantalizing menagerie of hops. Simcoe for tropical and grapefruit zest, Columbus for hop pungency, Centennial for pine notes, Citra for citrus zest and Cascade for floral aroma are layered throughout the brewing process. West Coast IPA® exemplifies the Green Flash spirit of adventure and discovery.

Clear amber with a moderate head settling to a heavy film. Some spotty lace as you go.

Very resionous nose, lots of pine, a hint of citrus, biscuity backbone. Very luxurious mouth feel. Lots of pine again to taste, grapefruit peel citrus. Hops very dominant, but still restrained somehow, quite tasty. Even handed and balanced brew, quite tasty. High alcohol content well concealed. Long lingering bitterness.

Well made, manages to distinguish itself from a lot of the other IPAs that are hitting the shelves these days.

Serving glass: Poured from bottle into Imperial Pint.

Appearance: Hazy amber with large, sticky, off-white head and nice lacing.

Smell: Prototypical West Coast IPA aroma - grapefruit, orange, pine and toasted malts.

Taste: Prototypical West Coast IPA taste as well, but they nailed it. The toasted and caramel malts are present but are obliterated by the decadent hops. The hop profile is nothing fancy, with grapefruit, orange and pine, but it is done much better than most IPAs that tread this familiar territory. Needless to say, the finish is bitter.

Feel: Very smooth and almost creamy body. The fact that this is approaching DIPA territory explains this fantastic mouthfeel. However, this has the crisper drier finish of a standard (single) IPA. Near perfect.

Overall: This is how to make a "traditional" West Coast IPA. Fantastic. I can't believe this is not available in Minnesota, as I bought it in Omaha of all places.
