Trader Joe's 50th anniversary beer.
Brewed with California sweet orange peel and tangy rose hips inspired by the Crown City of Roses. It's malty character is balanced by fruity El Dorado hops.

bought at TJs in Dadeland. 22 oz bottle
Look: Straw to pale gold with a thin-ish white head with very low retention. clarity is about 85%. no lacing observed. Smell: yeast derived fruity esters and peppery spices. soft wheaty, bready, light malts and some floral hops.
Taste: all complexity here is coming from the yeast esters and derived spices. good balance between malt sweetness and moderate bitterness. I do not detect separate flavors from the orange peel or rose hips.
Feel: medium to medium full body with oily texture. moderate carbonation is present and the astringency is pronounced. Finishes dry and short with only some astringency lingering on the palate.
Overall: a decent enough Saison although the expected white head, retention and lacing typical to this style are lacking. Also the experimental side (rose hips and sweet orange peel) is too subtle.

Review from April Fool's Day, 2017.
Pours a brass like color. Good clarity, especially for a saison. Ample 3/5" white head. Hits a standard yeasty saison push in the aroma upside some orange peel notes. Truly smells as the label reads.
Taste veers a little from the smell. Doesn't have the taste of a saison yeast as much. There is a weird bitter astringency to it that can't be just the saison yeast. All this rose hip talk doesn't pan out in the taste. Thought it would have had a drier finish on the back end. Really not all that memorable, one of those beers that was quite middling, no off flavors, but also doesn't do anything so good that you talk up any particular aspect of the beer. At best, it looks well made and is relatively affordable. The orange is probably the most prominent thing, but its a mixed bag, I don't want fruit to be the most forward thing in a saison, but it did tamp down some of those clove type notes that I'm not big on, so its a shell game at the end of the day.

To be fair, it does say that it was best before June 2017. Pours a very hazy golden color with a small foamy head. Head retention is mild. Lacing is good. Floral aroma with some farmhouse yeasts and slight citrus on the back end. Very carbonated up front with some bitterness, followed by the orange peel then the farmhouse yeasts. The farmhouse flavor persists on the aftertaste. Not a bad beer. Somewhat silky at the end. Light to medium bodied.

Bottled in honor of Trader Joe’s 50th anniversary, as an exclusive for the natural foods chain.
Appearance: Clean golden with a huge white head.
Aroma: Fruit all the way, with a sweet and sour citrus and red fruit nose. Nice.
Taste: Sour fruit up front, with a little hint of bitterness from, presumably, the El Dorado hops. Peppery spice notes come in, too, as this one warms a bit. Solid and quite tasty.

Pours light amber, mostly transparent, lots of head.
Smell is fruity citrus with a slight floral note. Taste is similar. Cracker malt, with slight hint of pepper. No real funk and not quite what I was hoping for out of something labeled "saison". No bitterness on finish.
Light and crisp, highly drinkable.
Overall good and a nice light beer for spring but not what I was looking for.
